  1. just read the current issue of Mopar Action magazine, on one of the pages near the front, there was a tiny picture of this car that caught my eye. Apparently, Shafi Keisler, from Keisler Engineering (THE Keisler Engineering) owns what he believes to be the REAL Preproduction '69 Hemi Charger SE that was shown in that calendar, and is the subject of your build! He is currently restoring it, and SPEED TV's show "Chop Cut Rebuild" filmed at Keisler's company back in May to do a cover on the "KEISLER XP HEMI CHARGER", well at least that's what they call it. I sent a message to Shafi himself on Facebook to see if he can shed a little more light on the car for you!
  2. you could get some nice LED lighting in there by using those light strips or even cut a hole in the roof, and glue in one of these: here are the LED strips (available at Autozone or Advance Auto usually)
  3. ok, I see what they are supposed to be. Imagine the plastic rods a little bit closer together, and the flat face of them can be detailed as aftermarket gauges. If you cut the rods lengthwise into a "wedge" shape, this could also be made into a sort of under dash compartment for sunglasses, change, a road map, etc. Think of the finished product as an upside down Mopar "Air Grabber" hood scoop door.....
  4. Brandon relax, there's no reason to take it so personal hun. I sort of see what you're trying to explain, but maybe this will help. In your tutorial, try to write it exactly step by step, like you're trying to teach someone who has absolutely no idea when it comes to models. Pretend that they have never touched a model car, and take it slow. Sometimes that helps, so that you are detailed and cover all the bases?
  5. thats right, the F430. Maybe they didn't use the 458 Italia because they keep burning to the ground, lmao:
  6. some billionaire teamed up with the guy who designed the Bertone Mantide and Lancia to get this one off built for him. Supposedly if demand is high enough (no brainer there lol) then they will consider making as many as 25 limited edition copies. It's based on the Ferrari 458 Italia, and is drop dead sexy!
  7. ah ok cool, there is a Ryder's Hobby Shop in Toledo (half hr or so from me). I will have to go there and get some of those LEDS! What do you use as a power source to light them? Is it a battery pack?
  8. how cool is this!?! its neat to see other people doing the same things I've thought of doing so I can see how it turns out, I think we think alike I have a magazine that has several of these (only they are shelves) in it. I want to get the '70 Super Bee and '69 Charger R/T that they offer for about $75 each. They also have Camaros, Chevelle, GTOs, Corvettes, Firebird/Trans Ams, etc. These are really cool, great job w/ it! Where did your wife get the LEDs from?
  9. I love Harbor Freight, all of the tools I have are ones that I've bought there. None have broken and they've worked just as well if not better than higher priced or name brand tools. Just my 2 cents...
  10. what game is this? You have gotten my attention, lol
  11. lol hey it's been done for real, people using parts from similar year cars as replacements or if they look better it'll add some character!
  12. sounds like a good plan! If you're making it into a '69, make sure to use the seats from one too, the '68 seats have a different pattern on them : ) Also I agree that the Revell Chargers are good kits, I have several and want more just to make different colors lol!
  13. I remember mine was a Dodge Viper R/T 10 kit that I failed miserably at, so I burned it. I don't count it as my first since it never even got the chance to look like a car, instead it had the body sitting on the chassis with wheels what were horribly crooked, and I just couldn't stand the glue fumes lol. The one I do count as my first came about a year or so later, when I was 9 or 10. It was the AMT 1965 Ford Galaxie 500, with the burgundy car on the box. I remember that I asked my dad for that specific car since he had won a 1965 Chevy Malibu SS from a radio station here in Michigan way back in the early 90s, and a '65 Chevelle kit wasn't reissued yet (that came a few years later), the Galaxie looked similar & was the same color basically. My dad's Malibu SS was Madeira Maroon, God I miss that car. Long story short, after he passed away in '96 my mom ended up having to sell it to pay bills, and it got hauled off to some guy in either California or New York to add to his collection
  14. I've been told by a few members here that it's perfectly fine to apply the decals to your painted model, and clearcoat it as a whole as well. I used to think it would make the decals craze or yellow, lol. Make sure if you print your own decals that you do spray them with a couple light mist coats of clear before applying so the ink doesn't run off : )
  15. nice build, I wonder if this body could be modified and cut a little bit to make a stock '00-'02 Cavalier, that would be sweet lol.
  16. that is gorgeous! If you decide not to use the Phantom Vickie wheels & tires let me know, I've been looking for a set for a WIP lol. What color are you planning to paint it?
  17. Mailman brought me some goodies! The Revell of Germany Audi R8 is from a trade with Joe Chernauskas, (love the kit thanks Joe! I'll be getting yours out ASAP ) the pair of Tamiya Alfa Romeo GTV kits are scores from eBay (got both for less than $25 shipped, not too shabby!) and the 1/43 Pontiac Fiero is a pullback car in great shape that I got at a yard sale over the weekend, I might let go of it since it was an impulse buy lol. Lastly is my '69 Charger R/T Hemi clock that I got last weekend at a flea market, I love it!
  18. I got a few sheets of foam from Hobby Lobby to make a garage diorama that will be made to look like brick. I simulated 1/25 scale bricks by scribing the foam gently with a rounded pencil tip that was drawn down a metal ruler. First I made each line horizontally for the bricks, then flipped it 90 degrees and carefully scribed every other line to make a brick pattern. They are about 1 centimeter or so apart. It took a day to do four sheets, but they look pretty good. To make the surface look a little more realistic, I made a ball out of some aluminum foil and rolled it over the surface with a little pressure. I'll be spraying it with some flat red and or grey primer, and doing some washes with The Detailer. In the end it will look more realistic than paper, but it is your choice. The sheets were only I think $4 or so, for a pack of 4 (I think, it comes in different sizes).
  19. very nice! Also I have a work in progress that will come out similar to this, please don't think I copied you when it's done lol. It's not a Skyline, so it probably won't matter, just saying lol. I like the satin black too
  20. Here are some of my 1/18 Collection, I have more in boxes somewhere in storage lol. Can't wait to get my hands on more of the Ertl Authentics/Supercar Collectibles '68-'71 Dodge Chargers, I only have the Hemi Orange '71 Charger R/T for now. Back Row: '58 Plymouth Fury, '71 Plymouth GTX, '71 Charger R/T, and '63 Dodge 330. Front Row: '69 Charger R/T, '70 Coronet R/T, and another pair of '69 Charger R/Ts. '04 Chevy Impala SS, '00 Ford Mustang Cobra R, '51 VW Beetle Cabriolet (have 2, one's getting stripped and repainted), and a '69 GTO Judge. Not shown is another older VW Beetle that is awaiting primer and paint. My favorite '69 Charger R/T model, with custom wheels from another diecast. I may be trading a few of these soon, need to cross off a few more model kits off my Wanted list, lol
  21. lol I know it was only a few weeks ago if that, I've got a ways to go before I hit Ohana status As for the lack of leghumpers, I find that a positive thing
  22. I will have the gold steel wheels w/ chrome poverty caps as well as a set of Minilite wheels (as soon as I get them) for the Charger. Remember this car is being built as a 99% correct replica of a real car. The only thing I chose not to do was add a vinyl top to it, lol. I like the picture above of the lighter gold '69 Charger with the American Racing Torque Thrust wheels. I have a set of those, but I'm saving them for another build The picture where it's sitting on the black steelies & redlines is when I had to use the chassis from my '69 Charger Daytona (which is the black one w/ red interior, red stripe & spoiler). That one is currently apart getting polished and waxed, and I'll have pics of it soon. Here is a pic of it sitting on those Chrysler 300C wheels too, lol. I seem to like the look of it a bit more (yes I know, the hood has yet to be polished in this pic):
  23. I would think so... lol.
  24. Finally I got a digital camera to borrow, so here are some current pictures of the Charger as it is right now. I will add a few more later Mocked up on some Chrysler 300C wheels w/ Tamiya rubber tires: Had to use the chassis from my '69 Charger Daytona for a few pics since the '68s chassis is getting some work done More soon
  25. your link is wrong, lol. Here is the link to the Missing Link Resin Cast Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/people/Missing-Link-Resin-Cast/100001041643049#!/profile.php?id=100001041643049 had to Google it because none of the Facebook searches I tried worked (Missing Link Resin, www.facebook.com/missinglink, etc).
