  1. just got the "SQL" error message for the 1st time. Would it be help the site at all if older, currently inactive accounts were deleted if they take up space? Say for members that haven't logged in for a year or more? Or would it help if active members deleted their own topics that haven't been updated for a year or so, or maybe ones in the Swap/Trade/Free or Wanted Sections that are no longer needed? It's just a suggestion and I'm not sure if that might help how the site runs, but if it's over capacity then wouldn't that help? That way the mods & Gregg wouldn't have to do all the work, it's easy to delete our own unneeded threads/posts by clicking on "Topic Moderation" at the bottom of the page and selecting "Delete", then confirm and you're done. ** Just deleted 25 or 30 old topics of mine, only took about 10 minutes. If everyone cleaned up their old stuff hopefully it will help
  2. same here, I keep getting Board Messages telling me I can't use the PM feature or Search feature to look at New Content. Earlier I would click on a link and the page would take forever to load, and even then it went to a white page with some black script on the top (page wasn't loading correctly). I'm using Firefox and every other site I go to loads immediately at 100 Mbps average. Can't reply to any PM's either :/ Hope it gets fixed soon.
  3. only one I know of is the AutoArt 1/18 diecast, which actually sells for pretty cheap compared to other AutoArt cars (like $20-$30 shipped), comes in black or yellow:
  4. I get the same message screen as Harry and I'm on Firefox as well. Was working perfectly fine for me until this morning, can't access PM's either.
  5. wow they did a great job restoring the Charger, I love it! That is one ultra rare Mopar and it's great that it was saved and not crushed years ago!
  6. Goo Gone, 91% Isopropyl Alcohol, Easy Off Oven Cleaner or Dawn Power Dissolver all work great for sticky stuff without harming the plastic BUT make sure the parts you're using the last 3 on aren't painted, as those products will also remove paint if left on for an extended period of time Don't breathe in the Easy Off (lots of fumes) and both the Easy Off & the Dawn Power Dissolver are harsh on hands, so if you can pick up some dollar store dishwashing gloves to wear. Apply one of the products above (the 91% isopropyl alcohol is probably the cheapest next to dollar store brand "Easy Off" imitation oven cleaner (works just as good). Also you could possibly try "Invisible Glass" window cleaner by Stoner Products, it is THE BEST product I've found to safely remove anything sticky from painted surfaces without harming the paint or plastic underneath & it works quicker than Goo Gone without leaving an oily/greasy film like Goo Gone will (if you use Goo Gone make sure you clean the part(s) with mild dish soap & warm water to get all residue off. Invisible Glass will also wipe clean and doesn't leave any residue.
  7. the picture of the white Camaro in this thread is gorgeous! It makes me regret that I traded my Jada Camaro kit to somebody on here last year, now I wish I could get it back :/ I am almost positive that I saw a few of these kits at Kmart around Christmas last year, but a trip there today only resulted in various Revell kits for the most part. I'd love to get the Jada Camaro & Shelby GT500 kits now LOL.
  8. I found them both at my local Lowes, not sure about any other places. My local WalMart didn't have them unfortunately.
  9. same advice as above, but you can also VERY lightly wetsand with 800 to 1000 grit sandpaper and it will knock down a lot of the roughness. Then a couple coats of wet look clear and polish afterward.
  10. LOL never used the chat room here. Also, always happy to help I do have a good chassis that I can send you, will you need the rear axle as well? I have the chassis, k member, front steering components, etc. Do you possibly have anything to trade? I'm always looking for modern wheels & tires from/for Tamiya, Fujimi, and Aoshima kits LOL.
  11. yup, should fit like a glove with little to no modification. If I recall correctly due to variations in kit molds through the years, you might need to add a little bit of plastic styrene on the chassis sides if it's a little bit too narrow (it might not be). I think I actually have a chassis from the '70 Super Bee kit, let me check and get back to ya on that LOL. I'm not in the UK, but maybe shipping won't be super expensive for 1 part.
  12. here they are (box designs may differ through the years - they all share the same nicely detailed chassis w/ poseable front wheels) Also I used some wide Tamiya tires from one of my other kits
  13. wonder where you got THAT idea? LOL just kidding Nice Charger 500, looking forward to seeing more!
  14. both of my parents worked at Ford, they both owned Fords when I was growing up (Ranger and T-Bird). They've also owned Dodges, Pontiacs, and even Chevrolets (I am including daily drivers as well as some classic iron, a '71 GTO, '65 Malibu SS, '80 Corvette, '77 Firebird, etc). I've had 4 Dodges, an Oldsmobile, a Pontiac, a Chrysler, a Chevy, a Honda, and a Toyota. Best car I've ever owned? My '95 Toyota Celica GT hatchback, hands down. It was the most reliable, the most comfortable, convenient, best on gas, handled like a go cart, and the quality (compared to all of the American cars I've owned) was far superior. Sure, there are cars made today that I wouldn't mind owning that are American, but there are Imports that are on my list too. I'm straight down the middle. American cars in general still haven't equaled the quality of Imports yet, but Ford is coming close, with Chrysler not too far behind. The funny thing is that most people don't even realize that 90% of the time their "American" car is either made outside of the US, or it consists of (gasp!) a percentage of Foreign made parts. Also that there are many "Import" cars that are made here in the US, such as some from Subaru, Toyota, and Honda for starters (parts might be made elsewhere but the cars are constructed and sold here). Want a truly American made car? Buy a Toyota Camry .
  15. '71 Hemi 'Cuda built with the rare orange factory option interior. Got the idea to build it like this after seeing a white billboard delete '71 'Cuda convertible with this option featured in a couple Mopar magazines years ago. This was one of my first builds from over 10 years ago LOL...
  16. I love this paint, have used almost every color except for the pink (using it soon) and even though some can be a little heavy on the metallic side, they are easy to spray and I don't normally use a primer with them unless I need the color to be slightly darker than normal. Of course, sand and prep the body for paint first. The only color I'm personally not happy with in the Testors One Coat line is the "Root Beer". It came out more burgundy/dark red than actual root beer brown for me. I might get a 2nd can and try it again though. The Wet Look clear is great as well IMO.
  17. they look like American Racing Torque Thrusts, but the center cap is a bit different: I could be wrong, but that's what immediately came to mind when looking at your wheel.
  18. this might not help much, but I've found that many Tamiya and Aoshima tires fit well since they are very flexible rubber. Plus they are far more realistic than the "rubber band-thin" tires in the Revell Tuner kits. Only other tires I can think of might be the 19" Pegasus tires, but those usually come with rims as well, leaving you with more extra rims LOL. Also I am not positive that the Pegasus tires will fit, but many of the Tamiya sports car tires do (Nissan Skyline, 300zx, Toyota Celica, Supra, Mazda RX7, etc). I wish somebody made accurate tires for the Revell tuner kit rims too, the sidewalls on the kit supplied tires are hardly realistic, plus they look almost too narrow to be performance tires as well
  19. luckily the old Deuce is just a car and can be replaced, yeah it sucks that it was crushed (especially if it was an original, but it's possible it was a common DIY street rod kit), but the real kicker is that Sebring landed **3 Feet** from the house owner while he was inside, THAT is a miracle that he wasn't hurt or killed. Hitting the Deuce first maybe even slowed down the Chrysler, maybe that man owes his life to the little Deuce coupe .
  20. Generally a "tuner" is an affordable import or domestic 4 cyl or 6 cyl economy car (as a starting point) that has been modified mechanically and cosmetically for increased power, handling, and "sporty" appearance. They can be Front Wheel Drive, Rear Wheel Drive, or All Wheel Drive. Common cars include the Honda Civic, Acura Integra and RSX, Toyota Celica & MR2, Mitsubishi Lancer (Evo), Subaru WRX (and WRX STi), Chevy Cavalier Z24, Ford Escort ZX2, Mazda 3, Dodge Neon, Hyundai Tiburon, Nissan Sentra and 240sx, VW Jetta, VW Golf & GTi, etc. There are also 6 cyl sports cars like the Toyota Supra, Nissan 300ZX, Nissan 350Z, Nissan Skyline GTR, Mitsubishi 3000GT, etc that fall into the tuner category as a better starting point for performance with no "grocery getter" origin. A more high end European tuner car can include the BMW M3, Audi S4 or RS4, etc. A tastefully modified tuner is always built with the motto "Less Is More" (clean build style, proper modifications, paint that has no graphics and is not a loud color, etc). A V8 Muscle car (or anything with a bigger engine LOL) is not generally a tuner, but of course can be modified in the same way. The biggest difference is that most tuners start out as 4 cylinder grocery getters that are affordable for younger drivers to modify. It's like a modern day "hot rod" scene, I guess you could say Tuner (that has been tastefully done and is not "riced out": Not a Tuner: Ricer (any import/domestic car overdone in a loud & gaudy fashion that makes it look like a toy - most ricers haven't been modified for better performance or handling):
  21. thanks, I see it's been covered a few times on here too. Sounds like a great idea for dipping clear parts & sealing paint, gonna get myself a bottle today!
  22. WOW that paint looks a mile deep! So what does Future do exactly? Is it like a sealer that won't wash off? This is the same stuff used for floors, correct? I would love to try this stuff out!
  23. well, not all owners of the cars can afford to do a top notch OE Gold Concours Restoration would be my guess. Also maybe they didn't have access to a survivor car, or didn't do good enough research maybe? The Mopar Nationals Survivor tent is a treasure trove of information, you can actually talk to the owners as well as restoration experts (Galen Govier for example). It might have been an option, it would be interesting to get ahold of order and build documents from a survivor car but it's not an easy thing to do LOL. A lot of them do have chrome grilles but those are (as far as I know) supposed to be on the "family cars", like the base model Coronet and Coronet Deluxe, and Coronet 500. I almost bought a '70 Coronet Deluxe 4dr Sedan, it was completely original and had a rusty chrome grille piece as well. But I'm not an expert, I just take into consideration what the experts have to say
