  1. very weird, when I see some concepts from foreign countries, there are always those that strike me as odd. This one definitely deserves to be on the "Ugly cars we will thankfully never get" list...
  2. Just my $0.02, but a working 1/25 engine is pretty far fetched for reasons stated above, but they also create a lot of heat. Even if it wasn't made of plastic, the heat would cause havoc on anything internal. Regardless, these miniature working engine sites are pretty neat: http://weberprecision.com/ http://www.minimodelengines.com/index2.htm http://jalopnik.com/251109/worlds-smallest-supercharged-v8-engine--now-with-details and the smallest engine I know of is this 1/12 scale Cirrus V8:
  3. LOL very well put, I too seem to do most modeling at night, all throughout the night while listening to the tv in the background. With a lot of time to do whatever I want with (waiting to get called back into one job while the next one can be done right from home in the morning) I dabble with my WIP somewhat during the day only if I need to use a rotary tool, since I live in an apartment complex. I think its more productive at night, usually nobody there to bother you (for me the boyfriend's in bed, and the cats are sleeping on the couch lol). Guess you can call us the midnight modelers lol
  4. I will keep you both in my prayers, all the best!
  5. wow, always liked a lot of your illustrations Jairus, do you happen to have one of a white '58 Impala? Not sure if that one was yours or not, but it was sweet! Do you happen to have any '68-'74 Chargers? Keep up the great work!
  6. Lately I still see a lot of stuff I wouldn't mind buying on emodelcars.com, but what makes some people think that a kit from the '90s, that was VERY common, and is still pretty common, is worth $30 to $50, not even including shipping? Even newer kits that the MSRP was between $16.99 to $24.99 (when they were new releases) are almost double in price, and they aren't even 5 years old yet. The same kits keep getting relisted over and over again. Maybe it's because the items are priced a little bit too high? Just some food for thought, the same goes for eBay. Just because a kit is priced at $40 or $50 (or even higher), it doesn't mean it's worth it. Who wants to spend $50 on something they plan on building, or when they can be had for half that or even cheaper elsewhere? A good way to determine the actual value is to look at the kits that are selling, and get an average price based on the condition of your kit. Plus there are price guides for kits too. I'm not pointing fingers, and I'm not singling out anyone specifically. I don't know who listed what, it's just an observation that other people here may have noticed too. Not meaning to ruffle any feathers, it's just a hobby and everyone likes a good deal lol
  7. it looks very good, did you use satin black over a gloss orange? That's something you don't see too often Also, what don't you like about the paint? Maybe a quick polish would help? Even as it sits, it looks just fine though, great build! I regret selling the one I never got a chance to build after seeing yours!
  8. looks pretty good for a lot of 1st time jobs! Can't wait to see it when it's finished!
  9. I've never used Tamiya pearl white, but to get pearl effects over gloss or even some metallic colors, I have used Model Master Gloss Pearl Clearcoat (spray enamel). As the name suggests, it is a clearcoat with pearl in it, so it can be sprayed over any color to give a pearl effect. I've even sprayed it over a primered plastic spoon (just to see what it would do) and it gave a nice pearl grey color, lol. I can only imagine it would look great over a bright white base coat.
  10. mine had to be a Mopar, lol. I ended up buying a 1991 Dodge Daytona ES with the 3.0L V6. It was just like this one, only it looked like new. Unfortunately, I t-boned a truck that ran a stop sign not too long after buying it. I still miss that car, got it when I was 15. I honestly wouldn't mind getting another one, either that or one of the '92-'93 Iroc R/Ts,
  11. I like what you've done so far, haven't seen this kit built very often. Looking forward to your updates!
  12. this is why I want to leave! LOL not to mention the enormous amount of stupid drivers. The most recent event for example: Thursday afternoon I was chatting in the mall parking lot with my buddy and we hear CRASH right in back of us, not even 15 feet away. Scared the living daylights out of me. Some little old lady in a blue Focus turned to go into a parking spot that she thought was open about two spaces down from where I was parked, and there was a green Malibu pulling through the same spot to leave. There was a massive black conversion van parked in front of an old chevy truck, blocking the old lady's view, and CRASH! Somebody called the police to report it, and about 5 min later they show up. Of course my friend & I decide to stay and watch, lol. It's not fun when you had nothing to do with it, yet when you talk to the cops as a witness, they treat you like you did something wrong.... "why are you loitering in the parking lot? Not entering in any illegal activities are you? (my friend I was talking to is a big teddy bear of a man who happens to be black...) you know you have a cracked windshield, I can write a ticket for that (yeah yeah, I do need to get that fixed lol)" but anyway, the cops in Jackson, Napoleon, Adrian, and surrounding areas are all blankity blanks. If you're young, they will hassle you like it's their sworn duty. Doesn't matter what you drive, how you drive it, where you are, what you're doing, what color your skin is, or who you're with. They will find a reason to get in your business and find a reason to ruin your day. In my 25 years of living (all of which has been right here in Michigan), I have only encountered ONE police officer that let me off with a warning. I am not a mouthy or unruly young woman, I am polite and courteous every time I get pulled over (it's not really that often honestly), I'm not a druggie, I don't even drink. Yet I MUST be up to something if I'm out late, have friends in the car, etc. So who knows. Maybe I should carry a box of fresh Krispy Kremes with me wherever I go so next time I'm pulled over and the cop asks me why he stopped me, I can simply hold the donuts up & say " 'cause you smelled 'em " with a nice grin, maybe get on his good side lol.
  13. Mod Tops were available in '69 and '70, but you will love this site for reference Mopar Mod Top and Mod Interior Registry (also has nice samples of patterns to make decals from)
  14. this is my current daily driver, it's a '96 Chevy Corsica (2.2 4 cylinder) with 242,000+ miles. What you can't see is the primered panel on the driver's side where I did some rust repair, and all the various spots of chipping paint and rust. I'd love to spray bomb the whole car flat black and call it a day, lol. Previously owned cars: 2000 Chevy Cavalier Z24 (LOVED this car, I want to eventually get an '00-'02 Z24 in white) 1995 Toyota Celica GT (BEST Car I've owned, I still miss this car. Unfortunately it got repossessed and it "lives" somewhere near Grand Rapids, MI now.) When I bought it in Ohio: After the kit was painted: Last time I saw it My '73 Charger SE Project (had to sell it ) I've also had a black '98 Cavalier 2dr, a dark pink '96 Chevy Blazer (total POS!) a red '94 Olds Cutlass Supreme SL 2dr, a black '96 Dodge Neon 2dr, a strawberry metallic '98 Neon 4dr, a silver '88 Pontiac LeMans SE 4dr, a Silver Mist '96 Chrysler Sebring LX, a Milano red'93 Honda Civic 4dr, and a black & silver '91 Dodge Daytona ES. I will be building models of all the ones I can someday, lol!
  15. I've been to Petersburg a couple times, not really a big place either lol. I went to Dundee while I was out that way recently to see the aftermath of the tornado that hit Cabella's and that water park next door, place still isn't completely cleaned up! I had the chance to possibly move to Costa Mesa, California earlier this year to work for my brother at AnQi Bistro (from the An Family, the same owners of The Crustacean restaurant). That pretty much fell through because I didn't exactly have the means to move out there. Maybe someday lol, he did just change jobs to another pretty big restaurant corp. but I'm not holding my breath lol.
  16. old topic I know, lol but I too am a Michigander. I live in a little po-dunk town called Adrian, which is centered about a half hour from Brooklyn (where Michigan International Speedway is) and Toledo, OH. Born & raised in Jackson, and lived in Vandercook, Battle Creek, Bellevue, and Napoleon as well lol. Can't seem to find my way out of the State! lmao
  17. hi, I'm ok, just been dealing with some stuff and haven't had much time to get online. I am in the process of switching internet providers, it sucks lol. Hope all is well, take care :)

  18. speaking of The Wraith, you think you could touch base regarding the car your friend built out of a Jaguar XJ220? You sort of just left me hangin'. Sorry but I'm not going to send my Jaguar kit out to some random person when I've never talked to them or seen their work, seems like a not so smart move on my part, know what I mean? The model wouldn't even be for me, it would have been for a close friend of mine. Still hoping I can work something out with someone so I can get the car for my friend. Anyway let me know, and thanks in advance
  19. UPDATE!! I just got this message from Shafi Keisler on Facebook: ************************************************* August 23, 2010 at 6:15pm Re: your preproduction Hemi '69 Charger SE Hi Michelle, I don't have much information I can disclose yet because the restoration of the car is being covered by both CCR (Chop Cut Rebuild) and Mopar Enthusiast magazine. However, for more pics of the car from the Dodge Press days, please visit the 1969 Charger Registry online and look for these images in the press section. The features will begin to flow in just a few weeks on Mopar Enthusiast. Look them up on the net, and subscribe to their free digital edition so you can get the scoop. Also, subscribe to my newsletter so you can get my inside info on the project. Thanks for your interest! Shafi ************************************************* How cool is that? LOL Here are the pictures from the 1969 Dodge Charger Registry (some pics are pretty big! Make sure to click on them for full size!): http://www.1969chargerregistry.com/gallery/press/hemiXP?full=1 http://www.1969chargerregistry.com/gallery/press/index?full=1 http://www.1969chargerregistry.com/gallery/press/pc1?full=1 http://www.1969chargerregistry.com/gallery/press/pr_photo_69_charger_hemi_1?full=1 Here is a link to Mopar Enthusiast's small write up on the car, pretty interesting! (click on the little arrows next to the magazine, and it will go to the next page. Should be page 13, also shows a blue PT Cruiser. There's a bar at the top where you can zoom in too ) http://editions.amospublishing.com/MPRE/default.aspx?d=20101001
  20. I would personally love to build a Studebaker Golden Hawk!
  21. wow it seems like the street machine version was issued only like 5 yrs ago but I'm probably wrong, lol. These kits a super easy to find, I wonder why they're reissuing it? I still have a factory sealed one that needs built, plus two more rebuilders lol. Somebody needs to retool a correct 1970 and 1973/74 Charger already, there's enough '68, '69, and '71s to go around lol. While they're at it they should do a '70-'71 Dart Swinger and Dodge Demon too. Not everyone wants to shell out the $$ for a resin conversion kit
  22. lol I love MCLA (Midnight Club Los Angeles), and I have several cars. I made a few Charger Daytona R/Ts, the #77 Challenger T/A (Sam Posey's car), the Sunoco '69 Camaro, and even Parnelli Jones's Mustang Boss 302, all in T/A trim. I will see if I can get some pics & upload them here I just started playing Red Dead Redemption on the PS3, too.
  23. Nice build, what color did you use? This is a good kit to build, pretty detailed too. If it's the Testors Dodge Charger Daytona R/T, then it does come with the decals. I think Keith Marks makes them too, not sure. If you want to add a little more accuracy, the taillight panel should be satin black between the taillights, flat on bottom (follow the line at the bottom of the taillights directly across where it creases) and the slight curve on top, just above the top of the 3rd brake light, as so: it's nice to see it in a color that isn't OEM, too
  24. he hasn't gotten back to my message yet, not sure if he will to be honest. I figure maybe he doesn't want to be bothered, but it would be really neat if he at least showed a little interest in it lol.
  25. I've used rubber bands, they come out more realistic and are definitely worth the extra work. You can always get machined aluminum pulleys that will add more detail as well
