  1. hey diymirage I just found this, you are somewhat correct in that a very small number of early pre-production '70 Super Bees did have a faint red line on the inside perimeter of the grille, but they dropped it before actual production for some reason: '70 Super Bee Grille Restoration (several pics along w/ incorrect factory pre production brochure) and '70 Super Bee grille restoration and '70 Super Bee grill I guess it depends on how you want to build it LOL. As far as the unpainted center grille piece on Super Bees & Coronets, it's common for that piece to get dinged up and often times replacements were left unpainted as they came chrome from the factory. Survivor cars do not have the chrome grille (to correct myself from my previous post, Coronet R/Ts do have painted center grille pieces, as seen on the 32,000 mile survivor car below) . Here are a few pics of a '70 Super Bee & Coronet R/T survivors: (32,000 mile survivor R/T) I didn't know about the pre production red lined grilles so I learned something new today LOL. Survivor cars are the best source for accurate restoration information
  2. LOL I just included your message for reference silly. Off the top of my head some old Mopars that have red accents in the grille are the '70 'Cuda, '72-'74 'Cuda, '73-'74 Charger SE, and maybe a few others, but the '70 Super Bee (or Coronet R/T) isn't one of them this makes me want to build one of the '70 Super Bees in my stash LOL
  3. No red on the grille/headlights, just the taillight surround and the lower center grille piece is supposed to be body color on Super Bees. Coronets and Coronet R/Ts are supposed to be chrome (one of the ways to tell them apart besides the taillights and emblems of course). Great build by the way, love the engine detail too!
  4. personally I like the original Fast & The Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious wasn't all the great (the plot was sort of cheesy). F&F Tokyo Drift was way out there, and it didn't do well since it didn't have Paul Walker or Vin Diesel in it. They remedied this with Fast & Furious (the 4th movie). Most people don't realize that the movies are actually in an incorrect order, sort of like with Star Wars. It goes Fast & The Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast & Furious, and then Tokyo Drift. Fast 5 is supposed to be directly after Fast & Furious in that the crew (I assume) break Vin Diesel's character out of the prison bus while he's being transported (remember he was sentenced to 25 yrs in prison at the end of the 4th movie). After that the crew leaves the States for Brazil. If I remember right, there will be a 6th movie in the franchise too, not sure after that. I don't see what the big deal is, there are far worse movies out there that went on and on and on and on... "Saw" is an example... I plan on seeing it w/ friends, probably at an IMAX theater. Its just your average action/suspense movie with some nice cars mixed in (I'm not biased, I like American and Foreign cars, they both have their pros and cons... for the import haters they will be happy to know that Fast 5 will have a lot more American Muscle in it).
  5. this would be a cool build, there are soooooooooo many movies & tv shows to choose from. Might I suggest a website that has a listing of tons of cars that were featured in movies (incl background cars in addition to the "car stars"): Internet Movie Car Database also highway, it's neat that you brought that movie up, when I was younger I loved the Dukes of Hazzard and looked for other movies that John Schneider and/or Tom Wopat had been in. That was one of the first ones that they filmed (after the Dukes went off the air I think, might be wrong though lol). It's a heartwarming little movie, I still remember that the Semi was named "Yellow Bird" !
  6. omg I love the Goodwill store here, I have a friend that works there and they hold whatever car/truck models they get in for me. So far I've gotten a Stingray III Concept, an AMT Dodge Challenger convt, and a big bag of car bodies & spare parts. Actually just got back today with some really nice wall pictures and picture frames that I'll be redoing as abstract art for my walls lol.
  7. Look under Paudi Models, they have a 2003 diecast for the Chinese market. It is called the "Kia Swift Horse", but that's another name for the Accent. I do know of a WRC 1/43 diecast, but it is not the factory/street car of course. Paudi has a lot of unusual diecasts that aren't all that popular here in the States (at least not popular enough to be made into a diecast). Hope this helps! Here, look at this site: http://www.paudimodel.com/index.php?gOo=goods_search_list.dwt&p=16 They also come in red, blue, and yellow. Maybe someone could make Hyndai decals for you to replace the Kia ones:
  8. OMG the price of some kits are completely ridiculous, you can get a real car for the price of some of 'em. The thing with that kit is that you could never really do anything with it besides pack it safely away to let it gain value. You build it and it loses value. But yeah, some people have more money than brains.... who knows.
  9. I'm in the age group that the Kia Soul is aimed at, and I will never buy one. I think they are incredibly ugly, even with the larger "custom" wheels. Why buy a car that isn't nice to look at? What's worse, they are slow and unappealing. The commercial is kind of odd in that the rap style is '80s, but people young enough to really remember '80s music are in their mid 30s on average. All of the people I know in their 30s aren't looking for a cheap "hipster" car, they like the cars that are a mixture of performance, style, decent economy (read decent, not excellent), and something that can be modified tastefully.... like BMW (M3), Lexus (IS & IS-F), Cadillac (CTS Coupe), etc. Others like the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang, and Dodge Challenger. A few I know have driven the Kia Forte Koup, which is not a bad car, but it looks just like a Civic so that's why they chose something else, because it's a copycat car. It's a very nice driving car, but it's too small for someone with kids.... who would rather get a 4dr performance car (STi, Lancer EVO, Civic SI 4dr, etc). Problem is, both Kias are aimed at young people who probably can't afford one yet, but there are better alternatives that are all a few years old that can be had if you really compare. It's funny that they think Scions are econoboxes, it's the pot calling the kettle black. At least you can get a TRD Supercharger for the Scions, lol. Maybe Kia should switch the commercial from the Soul to the Forte Koup? I've heard rumors that there will be a performance version coming out in a couple years.... Also I love the "Mayhem Guy" commercials, they crack me up. Also the older Geico Caveman commercials, I loved those. My favorite commercial has to be the Orbit Gum one with the Love triangle, lol "WHO ARE YOU CALLING A COOTIE QUEEN YOU LINT LICKER!?!":
  10. thanks to a meeting yesterday I found out the Meijers where I live has 'em too, from $9.99 to $11.99. Picked up the Revell 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and the Revell '68 Dodge Charger R/T Special Edition (they also had the '69 Charger regular issue), both kits were $9.99, what a steal!!
  11. Mike you need to sell those as a kit, seriously. I could try to duplicate it but you do very clean work! I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to bend all the tubes needed for the turbo and intercooler piping, I have hollow aluminum tubing for that, but I also have solid rod too. I keep trying to sketch out a way to route everything as realistically as I can, while also trying to duplicate detail but I have a December deadline with not much time to sit down and dive in lately. This is also my first turbo build, I want to do it very well. I really appreciate the tips & how to's, I think I have everything I need to make one as a test and see how it turns out
  12. I need to make a pair of intercoolers and cone intake air filters for a twin turbo build, what are some ways to get realistic looking results without buying ready made ones? Or, to save time lol, does anyone sell any in resin (as a last resort)? I got some turbos from shucky, and I love 'em, I want something that will look just as good with those. I am using metal tubing for the turbos/intakes as well. Thanks for any tips and suggestions!
  13. the Fast & The Furious featured a '70 Charger R/T w/ a blown Hemi. This build looks mighty fine, the silver rear stripes sound like a unique contrast! Can't wait to see it when it's done
  14. what a beautiful build! I have this same kit, but I've never opened it. Do the headlights have the option to be flipped up? Keep up the great work, I'd love to see more!
  15. I totally want one of these, but I would only need the body & glass for it since I've got enough MPC Charger parts lol. I was just going to start a conversion on one of my bodies to make it into an SE too, so that I could build a replica of the '73 Charger SE that I had. If you sold just the body, how much would it be? I read that for now you want to sell it as a kit, which I still might get eventually lol. Do you have photoetched SE crest scripts to go along with it? I have a couple pictures of some that you might be able to use if you wanted to make them. Thanks!
  16. the one I saw was a regular '69 Mustang convt. , pink with a white top & interior, it definitely wasn't a GT500. Supposedly it was an all original car, at a Barrett Jackson Auction (or similar auction).
  17. funny thing is these things sold out in 3 minutes. Somewhere out there, are 100 people who have more money than brains. All this car is, is a paint job and an overinflated Luxury brand name. These will be about as collectible as Playboy Bunny cars (last one I saw was a '69 Mustang that sold for a mere $7k). Pretty color on the Camaro, but it's just like a Brickyard or Interlagos Fire Metallic Nissan 350Z, and those are a lot more fun to drive, more affordable, and you can get them with the same color interior If I had $75k, I'd spend it on an Ariel Atom.... I wouldn't mind the wind in my hair if I were driving THAT lol.
  18. actually, the Paypal payment holds are not based on a seller's feedback amount. They base the holds on the amount and rating of an ebay seller's DSRs, or "Detailed Seller Ratings". These are left at the same time as feedback, and it's a 5 star system rating the quality of the seller's service during a transaction. It takes 10 DSR's before they show up on an ebay seller's feedback profile, at the top of the page. Since buyers do not always leave feedback (even for a perfect transaction), they rarely take the few extra seconds to fill out the DSR questions when leaving feedback. Lastly, Paypal seller payment holds are finally removed once a seller has earned 20 DSR's. I have had numerous talks with ebay customer service supervisors regarding this, since I currently have the 21 day hold and it is very, very irritating. What they should do, is apply the holds to sellers with say, less than 100 positive feedbacks. After that, if they receive a negative feedback, continue the hold for 90 days. If there are no negatives left during then, they should remove it. I have had about 45-50 transactions on ebay, never had any complaints, and only 17 people who I've had transactions with have had the decency to sit down for 10 seconds to leave me a positive feedback (I have 100% positive, 0 Negative and 0 Neutral... and these stupid holds are still in place so it is not based on feedback). But, since I can't see my DSRs, I don't know if 1 or 9 of them have left a DSR. Maybe none have, but I won't be able to see those until I get 10 of them. It sucks, believe me lol. Anyway, if you're going to sell something on ebay, think about the pros & cons first. You get charged 3 times for each and every item you sell. There are the listing fees, (plus extra if you have special features, a buy it now, a reserve, or more pictures, etc), then after it sells, you have a final value fee. Finally, after your payment is received through PayPal, they take their percentage out. Seriously, 3 times for the same item! Everyone needs to start selling model cars on emodelcars so that the vicious cycle will end!
  19. The 200C pictures in my post are those of last year's concept car. Concept cars are usually styling exercises, whereas production versions (if they're even made), are made to include features that are necessary for daily use, as well as to accommodate the various sizes of people (fat, skinny, tall, short, and everything in between). The concept 200C was to be for people who wanted something slightly more affordable than a 300C. The production version is basically a facelifted Sebring. As far as the Fiat chassis, I don't believe the 200 has it. I think the soonest we'll see a Fiat chassis in production here is with the Fiat 500 that is already out, or will be released very soon. The 200 will probably go on sale by the end of the year, or early next year I think, not positive on that.
  20. I think the new body panels and a name change are good improvements, but the 200 is offered with the same horrible 2.4 4 cyl that is available in the outgoing Sebring. One of the worst parts of the Sebring is the ugly roofline, and the 200 consists of an improvement of everything else, except the roof. It looks good from the front, and good from the back, but from the side, IMO it is just as ugly as the Sebring is. One good thing is that it will be available with the new Pentastar V6, which has been getting praise. The platform is, I guess you can say, a watered down version of the Mitsubishi Lancer's platform. Chrysler simply did not refine it as much as Mitsubishi did. If they had, then the Sebring/Caliber/Avenger would have probably gotten much better initial reviews. People can't see the chassis though, they see the exterior first. That's what everyone else is gonna see most of the time, so why Chrysler made them so darn ugly is beyond me. With a little bit of effort, they could have penned a more attractive, yet functional, roofline that would have made the car look less atrocious white still addressing head room, leg room, etc. Same with the front/sides/rear. Now that the 200 has addressed those issues, it still looks like a Sebring, but is more attractive to look at, and the new front/rear take attention away from the roof. The 200C concept was far more attractive, in every way:
  21. just curious, why are they bringing back the '05 Chrysler 300C? It's still super easy to obtain, I didn't think it was that high in demand? Also isn't there going to be a release of the 1/16 General Lee due out in November? I thought that was through AMT/Round 2, but I could be mistaken?
  22. very nice! It makes me want to build another General Lee!
  23. I will definitely be going to this

  25. For one, I never stated that I am an expert, but thank you for your assumption . Second, I simply stated what anyone can see in the video and read what the articles stated. The officer barreled right through the closed off area right in front of the "Optimus Prime" Semi (what if he had done that a second later and gotten plowed by the semi, and gotten killed? Who would be at fault then? Probably not the semi driver). Who yet knows if the directors of the movie, or whoever calls the shots, disregarded the notification that emergency vehicles were coming through (if there was one, that is). Either way if you watch the video, it is not the "Bumblebee" driver's fault. IF there is an issue where the crew was told to film the scene anyway, then it's on that person since it is obviously blatant disregard to important information. At the same time, supposedly the Police SUV was on a different radio channel than the police officers that were on set. Wouldn't those officers, who seemed to be closer to the "bomb scene", have to respond to the call too? Anything that places innocent people's lives in danger would be more important than a movie, no? Also, the way the officer (in the SUV) was driving, he could have put innocent spectators at risk as well. There's more than one way to get to the Capitol, he didn't necessarily *have* to go down that road. But that is just my opinion, you don't have to agree . Anyway the movie will get (or already has) another Camaro to replace the wrecked one.
