  1. I've pondered getting the Revell kit from time to time, but it looks like it was tooled from a diecast like the Subaru Impreza kit was. Is that true? It just sort of looks "chunky", like the headlight lenses don't look like they sit right, or that they look too thick. Same with the bumpers. I know that either Fujimi or Aoshima (or both?) makes this body style as a JDM Honda Integra, and although it is more than likely a curbside it looks like a much better quality kit than the Revell. Not to knock anyone's builds here, they all look pretty cool. This is a car I'd like to build eventually, so although I don't have one to show at the moment I'd like to hear about how the Revell kit goes together, versus the Japanese manufactured kits (if anyone here has made one, that is). A quick google search came up with this for example (this is a Fujimi kit):
  2. never watched the original (didn't know there was one until seeing this thread actually...) but the remake is a good movie in my opinion, good enough to at least own on DVD lol. Good cast, interesting plot, fair amount of comedic relief, etc. Plus c'mon it has Hugh Laurie in it (aka Dr. House), THIS movie actually landed him the role of "House, MD" so it can't be that bad.
  3. I am amazed at your scratchbuilding skills, do you have a website that has pictures of your previous work on it by any chance? Or where you possibly sell engines that you've already mastered? I would love to get one of these for a future project!
  4. building up my stash again :)

  5. lovin' this topic right now, definitely need more pics of that diorama shown above please "Christine" is my all time favorite car movie as you can probably tell already <----------- LOL
  6. Here are all of my pictures videos from the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, taken this past Saturday Jan 14th. There are 265 pics & videos total. When my camera battery died I started taking pictures with my phone, so forgive the quality of the last batch of pics starting with the yellow 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 "Yellow Jacket". I got a walkaround video of both of Chevy's small car concepts, and they both look a little better in person. I still prefer the white one over the red one though. Chevy also had a trio of the new Spark minicars, as well as a matte red concept of the Sonic called the "Sonic Boom". The rear was stuffed with amps, subwoofers, and other audio equipment. Of course it was LOUD but cool if you're into that sort of thing. Ford had a blue GT500 convt. strapped to a dyno and every hour they did a dyno demonstration, which was very cool. I got a vid of that but I couldn't get too close due to the crowd. Ford also had the all new Escape, Fiesta ST, Focus ST, F150 Raptor, etc. Lincoln had the MKS Concept, which is the sister car to the new Fusion, and it is a very elegant looking car. Nissan had a single and stunning blue 2012 GTR, but of course it was locked. Regardless I took many pics, as it was only the 3rd one I've seen in person and the new shade of blue is beautiful on it! Infiniti had a very curvy pearl white concept sedan called the "Etherea", which featured purple LED's in the grille for some reason. Not sure if it was just a styling exercise but it was a nice looking car overall. I also took videos of both the Scion FRS (Toyota GT 86) and the Subaru BRZ production versions on their turntables. The Subaru looks a little better (to me anyway) but both cars had a lot of people around them checking them out. Even though those two were highly anticipated over the last couple years, the 2013 Dodge Dart and 2013 Ford Fusion had the most people around them when we were there (more than the sexy Lexus LFA and LF-LC concept did!). Toyota had two odd looking electric vehicle concepts (the blue FCV-R and the raspberry NS4 sedans). Not sure if either are intended to be future production versions, but neither one was particularly good looking (one looks like a walrus, the other looks like an eagle in the front). Also, forgive the picture of "epic mustache man", I simply had to take a pic of him because he looked like the blue FCV-R LOL. Honda had the 2013 Accord Coupe concept, and although it was a little too "chromey", it did look attractive. The deep crimson pearl paint looked miles deep, was flawless and shined like a mirror, too bad production models don't have paint like that though LOL. The Acura NSX concept was better looking in person (it was smaller than I expected). It will go into production and will be an AWD hybrid. There were so many nice cars that I can't talk about them all individually, but I saved the Dart for last Dodge brought about 5 or 6 Darts in various trims (Limited, R/T, SE, etc). Unfortunately all of them were locked so I couldn't sit in one, but I took many pics of the ones they had on display (including one that had been cut up to show the interior, suspension, engine, chassis, trunk key mounted rear camera, etc. Dodge also had a Dart dashboard on display that I took a video of (it's not the best, I had to maneuver the camera around people a few times). The camera didn't focus completely in some spots, so the picture is a little fuzzy where I tried to get a close up shot of different areas. Overall the dashboard doesn't feel like cheap plastic and the quality is a lot nicer than the Caliber/Avenger (as expected). There is ambient race track lighting surrounding the perimeter of the gauges & air vents, and the center dash display LCD screen is easy to use/navigate. The gauges are crisp and eye catching, and the rest of the interior is well laid out and looks very upscale for a sub $20,000 car. A lot of people were around the Dart(s) talking and checking them out, and everything I overheard was positive ("can't wait to test drive it, this is better than what they've been building, finally an attractive small car, lots of nice options, love the taillights", etc). I asked about a future SRT4 version and the spokeswoman simply smiled, then said something along the lines of "Hyundai can't hog all the fun with the Veloster Turbo". So to me anyway that sounds like there will indeed be an SRT4 Dart coming . Last Thursday, my nephew and I actually saw a white 2013 Dart Limited being tested in Tecumseh, and it was very quiet, almost electric vehicle quiet. I can't wait for them to be released later this year, it looks like a great little car and no doubt it will do well. 7. I am definitely going to be taking a bunch of pictures & maybe even video of certain cars/concepts, and I will happily upload a few here with a link to more
  8. My boyfriend and I are taking Bailey (my 15 yr old nephew) to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit tomorrow (Sat) since he's never been there, then we're going to head to the Model Cave in Ypsilanti on our way back home. Anyone else here planning on going? I'm looking forward to the show of course, but also the hobby shop LOL. I didn't go last year, but Bailey asked if there would be supercars there. Usually there are so I looked it up to make sure, and I couldn't find Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, etc on the show floor map so I looked into it and I guess they started to put all the super expensive luxury & exotic cars in the MGM Grand. The kicker? It's closed off to the general public (unless you are one of the 100 people who are willing to pay $500 PER TICKET to get in). Otherwise it's by invitation only, basically because they don't want the "general public" touching/sitting in the cars because most people at the show are not in the market for an exotic or ultra luxury car. So no 458 Italia, Aston One-77, Lamborghini Aventador, etc. for us I guess. I understand why the manufacturers did it, but when they were at Cobo Hall before, they were always roped off and people couldn't touch them or sit in them anyway. So they separated them because rich people don't want to have to walk around in the same room as non rich people (I seriously read that, just in other words on one site). Oh well, I'm still eager to go LOL.
  9. I know my first one is available as resin, but I would prefer it in Plastic. The rest should all come with optional custom or race parts depending on the kit: 1) 1970 Dodge Charger R/T (440 Six Pack & 426 Hemi Engine, no molded vinyl roof, and correct 1970 features. The AMT kit is a joke!) 2) 1970 Dodge Coronet Wagon (with optional Super Bee parts & decals) 3) 1070-71 Dodge Dart Swinger (why has this never been made !?! Along with a reissue of the 1971 Dodge Demon, please!) 4) 2013 Dodge Dart R/T 5) 2010 Ford Taurus SHO (the diecast leaves a lot to be desired. Let this come as a stock version and a police version to compete with Lindberg's Charger kits) and since I can't choose just 5 LOL: 6) 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 (with optional R/T parts. Should use the tooling to also make a version of the 2012 Charger PPV) 7) '97-'02 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP coupe (no coupe for '03) 8) 2013 Ford Focus ST 9) Pontiac G8 GXP 10) '96-'99 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi (love the '90s daily driver sport sedans) 11) 2000-2002 Chevy Cavalier Z24 (I know that Fujimi made a '95-'99 Toyota Cavalier 2.4Z, but the '00-'02s have a revised front end & different Z24 wheels. Only want it to replicate a former daily driver, but of course it will never be made as a full detail kit. There's a drag body but it would need a lot of TLC to make into a stock version )
  10. Technically, if you wanted both performance and luxury, you could also get a Challenger R/T SE. It basically combined both packages so you would end up with a loaded Challenger (and yes you could get it with a Hemi, there were 59 made in '70, 37 of which were automatics). You could not, however, have a Challenger T/A SE as no such combination exists. Here is an R/T SE Hemi: Click this link for more information and lots of pictures showing the extra trim for the R/T SE (good pics for reference): http://www.americanstreetmachines.com/xCars/PageId/11/Classic-Mopar-1970-Hemi-Challenger-RT/SE-SOLD-WA-for-sale/Id/63/1970-Hemi-Challenger-RT/SE-SOLD-WA/ProdId/486/LId/0,63/1970-Hemi-Challenger-RT/SE-SOLD-WA.html#2387870-D209602%20079.jpg Also to add to what differentiates a Challenger T/A from other models: The T/A (like the AAR Cuda) had a matte black fiberglass hood with a unique and functional scoop, matte black "Ducktail" rear spoiler and front chin spoilers, "trumpet" exhausts that exited on the side of the car in front of the rear tires, and large matte black side stripes that were unique to the T/A (which started below the beginning edge of the side window and ended on the leading edge of the front fenders). Like other Challengers, the T/A could be ordered with or without a vinyl top (with the exception of the SE, which always had a vinyl top as part of the package). As already stated the only engine option was the 340, but it had a 6 pack carb setup (like on a 440 Six Pack). No other cars could be ordered with the 340 Six Pack besides the AAR Cuda (they could have a regular 340 of course). To further differentiate the AAR Cuda from the Challenger T/A, the Cuda had matte black paint added to the tops of the fenders, which ran all the way back to the rear corner of the side windows along the uppermost edge of the doors ( leading edge of the quarter panels (see pictures). The Challenger T/A only had the hood matte black. Also the AAR Cuda had a "strobe" side stripe, which ran the full length of the car. T/A stands for "Trans Am" racing, and AAR stands for "All American Racers", which is a race car company established in 1965 by Dan Gurney and Carroll Shelby. 11. I'm sorry for your loss, whether it's a person or a pet, it's always hard to lose someone you love Even though it hurts, remember that time heals all wounds, you'll see him again someday.
  12. Unfortunately neither of them are called "Chevelle" or "Nova". But this is a good thing, because by looking at them I don't think that is what they are supposed to be (thank god LOL). I'm not sure if I like the red one (aka the "Code 130R"), it looks like a "Camaro that made love to a Mazda RX-7 that had already made love to a BMW 1 Series that was the illegitimate child of a Dodge Neon (1st Gen Coupe). It is RWD, seats 4, and is powered by a turbocharged engine. The wheels are matte gold, and notice the Corvette cross flag emblem on the fenders..... More Pictures: http://jalopnik.com/...detroitautoshow This is the other concept, the "Tru 140S". It is a FWD 2dr hatchback that also seats 4, is based off the Chevy Cruze platform, and is powered by a turbocharged 1.4 4 cyl that makes 150hp. Mileage is rated at 40 mpg as well, due to stop-start technology and direct injection. It features WiFi connectivity, smartphone integration, Chevy's MyLink system and a head-up display as well, although the interior on the concept is not finished. It is meant to be an afforable sports car and if produced, will cost around $20,000 (to compete with the Hyundai Veloster). Paint is a new (for GM) Matte White Frost. Audi R8 + last gen Mitsubishi Eclipse? More Pictures: http://jalopnik.com/...detroitautoshow I do sort of like the white one, but I'm on the fence as far as the red one. I'll take more pics this Saturday, looking forward to seeing them, and many others, in person .
  13. There are no "custom" or 2 in 1 parts in the box, if that is what you mean. Regardless it does have a lot of detail, the doors, hood, headlights, and spare tire door all open and even the side windows slide up & down. It's a neat kit, and with a little creativity it could be made into a convertible, targa roof, t-top, etc. I wonder how it would look as a shooting brake?

    Mazda RX7

Very nice, the paint came out great and I like how you paid attention to detail by painting the window trim flat black to simulate weatherstrip. It's a detail often overlooked on modern car builds that have a lack of chrome LOL. This is the Tamiya kit, right? Do you have any pics of the engine? I'd love to see more, especially if they look fresh off the showroom floor like this one
  15. Phil Harkins (Bridgebuster) was kind enough to send me a couple boxes of these wheels and they are very nice. The wheels are crisp, as are the brakes, and as already stated they are great for tuners or would even look good on pro touring muscle cars possibly.. Depending on the wheel styles available I would more than likely buy some off of you, probably 2 or 3 of each wheel design in a variety of whatever colors you get. Please PM me if you do end up getting these, thanks
  16. LOL it sure does have a lot of junk in the trunk......... I'd give the owner/builder props for effort but some of the car's proportions are just way off & it just ruins it. I like the front w/ the '70 style headlights, but that rear, well it's just HUGE. It looks more like a '67 Impala than a Chevelle from the rear.
  17. Guys, the white "Chevelle" car shown is simply a design exercise from 2010 & from what I've read about it, there are no plans to produce it. However GM does has a mystery concept car coming to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this month but according to the PR guy from GM, the mystery concept is a small car and it is unconfirmed as to whether or not it will have the "Chevelle" name. Honestly I think GM is going to come out with something to compete with the 2013 Dodge Dart, call it a hunch but I have a feeling the new Chevy "Mystery Car" will possibly have a "Nova" badge instead of "Chevelle". It would be neat to have a modern Chevelle, sort of like this but hopefully executed better: (Rebody a late model GTO using new '70 Chevelle sheetmetal, thus you have the "2015 Chevelle SS 454 Concept" ): and with a revised, '70 Style front end: thoughts?
  18. you should buy the season pass for all the car packs, there are a lot of good cars in there With the season pass you get 10 new cars every month until April, and as a bonus you get the muscle car pack free for starters. There's already been 2 car packs released from last year (Nov & Dec). The Jalopnik car pack just came out today and it includes the Alfa Romeo Montreal, '96 Impala SS, 2012 Honda Civic SI, etc. Feel free to add me, between my nephew and I we are on XBox live pretty much every night Also we went to Meijer the other day and bought up the last of the models that they had, all of which were on clearance for $7.95 each . I got 2 Revell Ferrari Enzos & a Revell '66 Shelby GT350H. Getting my stash back 1 kit at a time LOL.
  19. This is my Christmas haul from my boyfriend and my parents, plus a few that I got on clearance for half price at Meijers (Revell '57 Chevy, '66 SS 396, and another '66 El Camino) .
  20. SWEET!!! I will be checking this place out hopefully soon, thanks for the heads up! It's only about an hour away from me :D
  21. Please go back and re-read my post. I keep tracking #'s for my own records unless a buyer requests it, or if a false claim comes up because a buyer thinks I don't have proof of shipment & they're trying to abuse ebay buyer protection by claiming they never received the item when in fact they did. I should also mention that I personally don't have any holds from PayPal to worry about, so there is no need for me to post tracking every time I ship something. Usually I do parcel post so shipping is cheaper for the buyer. Parcel post does not automatically include tracking, but I get it anyway for my records *just in case*. If a buyer wants Priority Mail, then I do post the tracking # for them, but like I said I have no PayPal holds on any funds I get from selling things so I personally don't have to worry about it. If you have a hold on your funds from PayPal, then by all means the sooner you upload tracking the better, at least then they will release the amount you specified for shipping. After a buyer receives their item and they post positive feedback for you, then the rest of your money is released within 3-4 business days. As far as professionalism, I ship items within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment and I have 99% positive feedback. The 1 and only negative I have is from someone who tried to lie to ebay saying they never got their item, but I showed ebay the tracking # and they were denied a refund & their false item not received case was closed in my favor because I showed proof of delivery to their address. So since they got caught in a lie they left me a negative out of spite even though I did nothing wrong. All I did was accept his payment & pack/ship his item
  22. It is very easy for a buyer to try to pull a fast one by abusing ebay's buyer protection. If you don't provide proof of shipment via a tracking number, then they can claim that they never received the item and 9 times out of 10 ebay will side with the buyer, allowing them to keep the item AND get a full refund incl. original shipping. I always ship items and pay the 80 cents for tracking, no matter whether it's Parcel Post, First Class, or Priority Mail. Then I keep the tracking # for my records without uploading it onto PayPal or eBay. The reason for this is because if a buyer tries to screw me over thinking I don't have proof of shipment and they open a case against me, I simply provide the tracking # to prove their claim is false. A lot of times ebay will put a strike on their account for trying to abuse ebay buyer protection that way. Not saying all buyers are dishonest, but the number of them is definitely rising. Sure I could just upload the tracking numbers after every shipment, but in doing it the way I do, I weed out the bad apples and place them on my blocked bidder list so I won't encounter them again. When I have a lot listed I end up dealing with dishonest bidders probably two or three times a month, it's ridiculous . One other thing I've learned is to always offer a return policy (I do a 10 day one). If you don't have a return policy and a dishonest bidder tries to pull a fast one, ebay automatically gives them a refund without allowing you the chance to rectify the situation & of course they keep the item scott free that way too.
  23. when you go to your own ebay feedback profile to see your feedback, do you see anything in the "Detailed Seller Ratings" box? It is to the right of the "Recent Feedback Ratings (last 12 months)" section. It will include 4 criteria that buyers can rate you on: Item as described Communication Shipping time Shipping and handling charges If you have at least 10 DSRs of all 5 stars for each section then it will show, otherwise it won't. But I recall being told by a PayPal rep that those are the main factors in the 21 day holds because earlier this year I still had them. She said I was at 9 DSR's and once I got my 10th the holds would stop. Sure enough, it did. I guess all you can do is ship quick, charge very reasonable shipping rates (or do free shipping which gets you automatic 5 stars for shipping/handling charges), and do your best to earn a positive feedback. If you do have more than 10 DSR's and it shows on your ebay account, I would contact PayPal to see exactly why they think it's necessary to have a 21 day hold if you haven't done anything wrong as a seller.
  24. I have to agree with Casey here. PayPal does the 21 day hold for sellers who are just starting out (and it is removed once you have at least ten 5 star DSR's, or Detailed Seller Ratings, on your eBay seller profile in which buyers rate your seller performance when leaving feedback. Buyers don't always take the time to rate you however, and anything less than 5 stars in all categories will not count towards your public DSR count). If you have been selling for awhile and PayPal is just now introducing the 21 day hold, then unfortunately it has to do with your seller performance. Either a buyer had a problem and opened a case, or something like that. It happens since you can't make everyone happy all the time. Just as already said your money will be released within 3 days of the buyer posting positive feedback for you. So package & ship ASAP, and provide the delivery confirmation number as proof of shipment on both eBay and PayPal. Proof of shipment will also release the funds from that particular auction. Every 90 days PayPal reviews accounts to see if it is still necessary for a payment hold to be enforced. Ebay is not so evil if you know how to be a productive seller. You can print shipping labels w/ tracking #'s from home & schedule a pickup from USPS without even leaving the house.
