The 8 3/4 diff was the only game in town until the 1966 model year (coincides with the intro of the "Street Hemi") when the Dana 60 was implemented (standard with 4-speed ; optional with Torqueflite) . I've always pondered the mortality rate of the otherwise ample 8 3/4 when it was placed behind a Hemi / 4-speed !

There are two or three distinct shades of Chrysler Engine Orange : c.1964-1967 Hemi Orange (A/K/A "Race Hemi Orange" ; this was also used on the 1962-1964 Max Wedge / Super Stock 413 and 426 cube engines) ; c.1968-1971 Hemi Orange (A/K/A "Street Hemi Orange" ; this was also used on 1969-1971 383 HP , 440 HP , and 440 Six Pack / 6 Bbl ; and 1970-1971 340 ). Then there was "Air Cleaner Orange" which , however , is almost indistinguishable in small scale . There are two shades of Chevy Engine Orange ; one of them is more reddish (please correct me if I'm off on years here) and was used from 1955-1964 ; and one which is more "outright" orange , which was used from c.1965-1972 . I've used "1:1" engine paint on my builds for the better part of 20 years .

Multibrand Dealerships in 50s and 60s
1972coronet replied to JRB53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I grew up in west Whittier ( right near all of the cruising action ! ) and there were deallers galore around : - Ricker Motors Nash-Rambler-AMC . Aside from the obvious 'AMC' , there was a time when Ricker sold Peugeots along with the AMCs . - Urich Motors . Primarily a Lincoln-Mercury dealler , they also sold Jeeps , Pantera , and some select classic , antique , and muscle cars . - Harris GMC ( and Oldsmobile on the other side of the street ) . In the 1970's , Harris sold International Pickups along with the GMCs . - Lee Wood Pontiac / Honda . Speaks for itself . -
Not that it matters ( What's in a name ? ) what Round2 put on their box art description ; how-ever , just to clarify : Super Stock was reclassified in 1967 ; see link : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostalgia_Super_Stock
-
First year for Pro Stock was 1970 , an outgrowth of S/SE (Super / Stock Eliminator) . Heck , even Super Stock as a classification didn't come around until , what , 1966 ? 1967 ?
-
I think that was primarily V6-equipped models . V8 engines ; the Buick , Olds , and Pontiac ( "BOP" ) engines appeared unique from their non-related Chevrolet small V8 . But , you do have a point ! Ha ha ha . The pending Olds kit has an "Olds 307" .

Here's a couple of 1967 Nickey 427 Camaro : https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/SC0511-107436/0/1967-Chevrolet-Nickey/Bill-Thomas/4-Speed/ And one with the dual four barrel induction ( note lack of the [dreaded] A.I.R. Pump ! ) http://www.rmsothebys.com/az12/arizona/lots/1967-chevrolet-nickey-camaro-ss/927520

Here we go : http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-4377.pdf Unfortunately , the A.I.R. Pump is still present , which is incorrect on a modified L-72 .

Rest assured that the transverse-mount torsion bars are there , same chassis from 1976 (as a 1977) through the 1980 (last year for the F-bodies) . I have a '77 Volare annual (MPC never did a '76 model) and that was the first thing I checked ! Another bonus of the MPC F-body kits : Torqueflite trans , correct air cleaner , and underhood details !

"Final Cut #2" Meguire's [sp] works well , too . -
One of my favourite esoteric references is Central Office eXchange phone numbers (e.g. , "BEechwood-45789") . Some-thing I completely geek out over , and some-thing I use just to hear every-one say , "Huh?" . For an instance ; some-one will ask what the number is at the store I work from , and I'll say " (714) ORange-490..." . This works two ways : (1.) the '714' area code was replaced long ago with '909' , and eventually '951' , so it's fun to hear these "kids" say , "You work in Orange County ?" . (2.) The head-scratching when I give "OR" as the preix is hilarious .

'74 Vega Bruce Larson USA-1_FYI Reissue Update
1972coronet replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I stand corrected . I'm just so used to California-spec cars from that era as having the smallest , wheezeiest engines possible ! I'm a life-long resident (46 years) of Ca. -
Love it ! Beautiful work !

305 in California models , all TH-200 only . -
The Mr. 5 & 50 Super Stock would be a fun build . Imagine adding the welding marks on the trans tunnel from the N.H.R.A.-recommended "Neutral-Drop" starts that grenaded the Torqueflite ! Ironic that the Chrysler Warranty Rep would pilot a car whose appetite for Torqueflites was unreal . ( As a side note : prior to 1968 , "loose" torque converters didn't exist ; the B&M 'J' Converter changed all of that . It's difficult to imagine that neutral-drops were standard launching procedure in sanctioned events ! )

I'm going to assume that you're referring to the Motor Wheels Spyders ? Those are readily available via a few resin casters ; I've had the best luck with these : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Resin-1-25-Motor-Wheel-Flys-Spyders-Drag-Wheel-Set-/262046204002?hash=item3d032bc062:g:EmAAAOSw9r1V9IIG And these (same caster / seller) : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Resin-1-25-Motor-Wheel-Spyder-Mag-Wheels-Narrow-Front-Wide-Rear-Set-/261750081839?hash=item3cf185492f:g:HLwAAOSwMmBV0kCF By the way , those are my all-time favourite wheels -
This kit certainly appears to be a "Win-Win" for all ! While I don't typically build subject matter which predates c.1955 , I will most-likely be buying one of these Mod Rod reissues if for nothing else , the sum of its custom parts . When was the last time any-one has seen a Dodge Red Ram Hemi ??? That harkens to the days of each division having its own , exclusive engines . Who knows ? Maybe I'll break my "1955 & later" directive and build a stock '29 Roadster ... or maybe I'll sell it to Tulio !

My contention --and I'm certainly not alone in this-- is that if Moebius were to "give-away the farm" with one-version-of-multiples-versions ( e.g. , the Belvedere I in question here ) then what incentive would there be to buy the others versions which include the desired parts ? While I'm not necessarily a fan of modern tyres on older model vehicles (excepting , perhaps , decent representations of Radial tyres in "normal" sizes ) , I would have no problem buying the Satellite or its 'RO51' variant that's pending ( vis-a-vis Model King ) in order to have those parts for a "mix-and-match" build . All considered , the tyres included in this Belvedere I pillard coupe are desireable to at least 60% - 70% of the builders . Stands to reason , as I'm sure that there are many whom desire to build a replica of a "1:1" whose rolling stock consists of modern drag radials . The golden age of AMT providing an , in es , 3-in-1 or "build 2 complete models" , in modern-tooling , are gone (save for , ostensibly , the cadre of wonderful Round2 reissues) . Kudos to Moebius (and Model King) for producing some of the greatest "oddball" subjects that either have never seen production or haven't seen light-of-day in 50-60 years !

Another Blue Oval winner , Tulio ! Love those '55-'59 Fords , and the way you craft them certainly showcases their potential .

1970 Challenger T/A build (Revell 1/24)
1972coronet replied to Shelbytona's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Randy (Shelbytona ) : Nice '70 Swinger ! Kudos for restoring one of those long-forlorn Darts . Overall , it's pleasing to recognise that people are at last restoring 340 Dart / Demon / Duster models (and even some Slant Six , 318 , and 4 door models for that matter ! ). Was your Swinger built in the Windsor , Ontario plant ? Regarding black primer : The elusive Los Angeles plant ( 5800 S. Eastern @ Slauson , City of Commerce . Ceased operations in c.May 1971 , shuttered in July 1971 ) used black primer versus the "typical" grey (and some-times , zinc) primers used at Hamtramck , Lynch Rd , Jefferson , St Louis , et al. It seems that black was the only primer that Los Angeles used ; pretty sure that's due to whom-ever their paint supplier was , and nothing else . I apologise if I'm hijacking your thread . Please feel free to delete this post if you feel that it's off-topic or otherwise inappropriate . Keep up the great work on that JH23J0B !
