--I've had every iteration of the A-TEAM van , and none of them had the side marker lenses (nor were the parking lamp lenses present for the Chevy version) . I used to buy them at Kay-Bee Toys back in the 80's if for nothing else , the tyres and 'steel' wheels . Heck , they were selling 'em for 50 ยข ! When RC-2 reissued the 'Team van in c.2003 , I bought a few of those , too . Again , none of them had the aforementioned lamp lenses (other than , of course , the tail lamps) . The advantage to the RC-2 issue was that the parts that were originally chrome were again plated (the original AMT release had zero chrome parts !) --I don't remember that 2 sets of seats in the RC-2 release ( ? ) . --There were some rumblings of restoring the tooling to the Open Road version ; however , that ostensibly never materialised ... The roof cerainly is different . The original AMT annuals had smooth roofs , IIRC ; the A-TEAM version has the ribs , but is also 'plagued' with the "forced-option" sunroof and roof lights . I agree regarding the engine ! It is a nice piece ! A nice SBC with a TH-350 (or is it a TH-400 ?) backing it up . The only downside to it is the 4-paddle fan ; totally incorrect for virtually any V8 engine after c.1965 !

Any particular reason that you're looking for that specific version of the Chevy-come-GMC van ? Assuming that you're looking for the A-TEAM van for that reason alone ; it's an okay kit . The GMC-specific grille is decent (can't vouch for its accuracy) , but the rest of the kit is lacking : - No side marker lenses ; - No 'GMC' emblems (other than the grille) ; - "Butchered" driver's seat (to facilitate the Mr. T figure) . If you're looking to build a GMC van sans any 'A-TEAM' livery , you'd be dollars ahead by buying the new(er) Chevy Van reissues , as those include the side marker lenses and a restored interior ; then all you'd need to get would be the GMC grille ( although , no one makes GMC hubcaps nor emblems , at least that I'm aware of ... ) .

Maybe Missing Link will offer those (obscure) wheels eventually ? I wonder if there were other options available for the '80 Road Runner ... Even then , I'll probably stick with the (incorrect) Rallye Wheels .
-
Owing to the fact that Round2 is on a good run with the MPC reissues , I wonder if the 1973-1974 Charger Rallye is slated for reissue ? Correct me if I'm wrong , but didn't it make its last appearance in c.1983 in street machine livery ? Its stock tyres and wheels were in absentia , but it was otherwise "stock" ( never kind that horrible "limo tint" phase that MPC went through in the early-mid 80's ! ) . Any Idea Whose Beautiful Work This One Is ?

I , too , have the c.1979 issue . Had it when the kit was new ,but it "suffered" at the hands of a 10 year old's "skills" . I bought another one , factory-sealed , from eBay a few years back. My thinking was , "This will never be reissued ! " . I'm glad that it's seeing the light of day after 36 years ( !! ) . I will say that the advantage of the original being moulded in black is that the air cleaner assembly has a default proper sheen to it ! At least this go'round the tyres will be much better than the original's 2-piece plastic pieces of cow dung !

Thank you ! Molly is the best-behaved kitty I've ever had ; just an absolute sweetheart ( and , conversely , one whom vocallises Mountain Lion sounds when she's perturbed ) . Oliver is a lover , but also a curious bratty Brit . I swear that he comes from Ship's Cat lineage ; he just checks every-thing out ! Neither of them are allowed in my bedroom when I'm building any-thing . Keep up the great work , Bill ! Looking forward to seeing more of your stunning builds !

" Who are you calling 'Nosey Cats' ?? " That is one super nice Impala , Bill ! Molly (Calico) and Oliver (bratty Brit) definitely approve

YES ! I would love to have a '70 Ranchero GT kit !! I had a '70 GT some years ago : Cleveland 2 Bbl , FMX , 9" with 3.50 / Locker . Okay , Revell , if you're reading this , and are giving consideration to such a project , please give the kit a 351-C along with the 429 .

It's the same for all Chrysler "B" ( 350-361-383-400 ) and "RB" ( 413-426W-440 ) and 426 Hemi engines .

Revell 1969 Camaro Grille Interchange
1972coronet replied to 1972coronet's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I thought that there was a clear-ish element to those doors ! Perhaps some Tamiya Pearl White would suffice . I don't have the RS-specific-only-to-the-Z/28 grille (has the "RS" been removed from subsequent issues ? The new-er one doesn't appear to have that embellishment ...) . The only RS-esque grille that I have is the one that comes with the "ZL-1" ; how-ever , it has the "SS" emblem , which is ostensiblt incorrect for a COPO . I would love to have one of the grilles with the "RS" emblem , if you were so inclined . I have been trolling eBay for earlier releases of the Z/28 RS . I can always just pop the standard grille (from the ZL1) into it ... after all , I do want to build a Z/28 any-how . -

Blue Maxi ! I positively love that car , and its counterpart , Green Meanie ! The latter was the High Performance CARS / Motion Performance version , and IIRC , its nomenclature was "Z/30" . By the way , CARS Magazine's one-and-only Martyn L. Schorr is still kickin' it ; I'm friends with him on Facebook . Same with Joe Oldham and his son Scott Oldham . -

Thanks again for your reply . Funny thing about the '69 RS Camaro ; I used to love it , then I hated it , then I started to really like it again ! Not sure as to why I didn't like it for a brief period , but I can tell you what '69 Camaro COPO / RS had me liking it again: the Daytona Yellow L72 with yellow houndstooth interior ! To make it even more interesting , it's an export-to-Canada ! Let me see if I can find a nice image of it ... http://www.hotrod.com/cars/featured/mscp-1204-1969-chevy-camaro-rs/ The out-of-the-box RS grille does look wonky , which is disappointing to say the least . Almost a characature of itself ! The reason that I thought of clear Evergreen is that I could swear that the "louvers" were clear ! Ha ha ha ! That tells you how long it's been since I've seen a '69 RS in person ... Google Images , here I come ! -

Thanks for your answers , every-one ( Bill "gtx6970" , Gerry "Exotics_Builder" , and , Snake ) . Snake , I'm not going for a replica of an existing ZL-1 / RS , just a "generic" version thereof . While I recognise that the grille / hide-away headlights combo is 'flawed' out-of-the-box , the only changes I'm planning to undetake would be to detail the hide-aways' doors (e.g. , body colour where appropriate , and the opening-up of the 'plexiglass' covers . I'll whittle some-thing out of clear Evergreen for the 'plexiglass' covers ; then I'll *probably* add some parts' box headlights behind them .) . Additionally ; I'm going to pop a B-N-L Resins Turbo-400 behind that 427 ---even if that means having to make the engine an L72 instead--- and add the console / Dual-Gate shifter from the recent-reissue of the '69 Barracuda . Thanks again , guys ! -
I'm close to starting on the 1969 ZL-1 Camaro , and am wanting to add the Rallye Sport grille (and other pieces) to it ; how-ever , I can only find the grilles with that "SS" emblems moulded-in . I noted that their 1969 Z-28 / RS kit has the grille I'm looking for , complete with the "RS" emblem on its grille ( ) . Now , I'm wondering if that RS grille will fit any of the other Revell 1969 Camaro kits ?

Here's a nice article on the 1968 "SS/EA" Nova COPO , courtesy of Super Chevy Magazine : http://www.superchevy.com/features/sucs-0827-1968-copo-9738-yenko-nova/
-
I'm by no means an expert on any-thing ! Ha ha ha ! I was hoping that some-one would present an anomaly regarding the COPO Nova ! The only "semi-COPO" '69 Nova that I'm aware of would be the Harrell conversions ( ~10 converted to L72 427 from L78 396 models ) . Apparently , Yenko , Harrell , et al. , wanted G.M. to issue a COPO L72 Nova for '69 , but it was decided that the "little" X-body would be even more dangerous than the 375 hp version already was ( I don't understand that completely , as the F and X bodies were so closely-related ! ) . So , Harrell instead slipped 427 short blocks under the L78's heads and intake ( just like the 1967-1968 427 Camaro was done ) .
-
You're thinking of the 1968 Fred Gibb / Harrell SS-396 L78 375 with the "specially-calibrated Turbo-Hydramatic 400" which was built to qualify the cars for SS/EA . The only other COPO Nova was the 1970 Yenko Deuce with its 370 hp LT-1 and either a 4-speed or T.H. 400 with Hurst Auto-Stick shifter .

'78 Dodge Monaco 2dr swapmeet find/rebuild

A former neighbour had a '78 with the top engine option : the "P" code 400 HP ! -
I'll be chronologically-turning 46 on 16th April ( @ 0200 hrs ) . I've been building for 40 years , more on than off ( took a 'sabbatical' in my mid-20's in order to pursue females ... I sure do miss that gal whom looked and dressed like Twiggy ! ) . My vision is going to the trash , at least compared to how precise it was until 3 years ago !
-
I never even considered that ; that a new technology could be trying . I'm sure that there was a healthy-dose of trepidation after the ill-fated 1969 Dodge & Plymouth "recall" wheels ; although , those were a Kelsey-Hayes wheel , not a Motor Wheels product .
-
Perhaps it was cancelled before production started or was cancelled very early in the production run ( e.g. , the 1972 440+6 ). That being said ; those wheels look awesome on that 'Carlo ! Same with the raised white letter tyres ! Who knows , maybe because the Camaro that they were slated for [ Z-28 and Super Sport ] was delayed until Feb. '70 , and GM wanted to put some-thing sporty on their new-for-1970 G-body , so they shot photos of the "pilot" model with those wheels / tyres ?

If for nothing else , those boots and gloves are tasty !

I wonder if the accompanying black insets were either : - A compromise ( i.e. , instead of supplying just the white stripes ) - A "support" for the stripes ( they would probably be a big pain to align and place if they were sans the "support" ) The latter of my hypothesis still supports your assertion that they could have / should have been clear / trasnleucent .
