  1. That Chevelle , while positively disgusting , wouldn't be as offencinve to the eyes if the builder didn't get all totally 80's on it (i.e. , stock finish to the grille , headlights' bezels , and bumpers) . Still goofy as , but would be less of an 'abortion' if there was more brightwork to balance it . Now , onto that gut-wrenching '57 four door hardtop : I literally regurgitated my dinner ! BBAAARRRRFFFFF !! Kim Jong un , indeed !
  2. Welcome back to the hobby , Jerry ! I'll also toss my hat into the ring for the 1970 Buick GS-X . It's been around ( kit-wise ) for twenty-ish years , but the tooling is still in very good shape (i.e. , not a lot of massaging would be required --if at all-- to make the building process go smoothly) . Above all : enjoy !
  3. Here's a video of an in-car ( 1973 Duster ! ) shot of a Lenco and its Lightening Rod shifters in-use https://youtu.be/2zx54zjDU4s
  4. At least according to the instructions (posted in this thread , probably a few pages back) the Lightneing Rod shifter arrangement is indeed there
  5. At the risk of going far-off-topic ... I see lots of Lobo 150 around . I just thought that it was a regional-specific (southwest U.S.) marketing ploy ! I've also seen one or two Peugeots with Baja California plates ; a number of Nissan Sentra ( I forgot the name applied to that model ) which stand out because they're sans the centre-high-mount-stop-light (those are built-in-Mexico models at that) ; and , sauver le meilleur pour la fin , the 1970 Dart GTS and the 1971-1977 Super Bee .
  6. Mexico (and just about every state / country south of the U.S. / Mexico border) got some really cool cars back in the day ! Stuff that just was not available in the U.S. or Canada (which , itself , had some cool , unique models , too) . Every so often I see a Mexico-market vehicle here ; I live ~100 miles north of the border .
  7. Personally --and I'm not alone in this-- I'd like to see an all-new-tooling 1969 Super Bee . The Monogram original is long in the tooth , being over 30 years old . Then there's its inherent inaccuracies ( namely : disc brake master cylinder ; Road Wheels [ colloq. , "Magnum 500" ] ; and its Plymouth rear seat embellishment ) . Don't get me wrong , it's a nice kit for what it is . However , it's time for a new '69 'Bee .
  8. Back in the day , one could order practically any colour from any manufacturer's paint chart , regardless of whose colour it was . There was a '71 Mach 1 Mustang around town that was painted AMC 'Sterling Silver' !
  9. The Monogram 1984 Mustang Convertible 5.0 LX ! One of my all time favourite kits ( in spite of some of its shortcomings ) . Those wheels , while beautiful , are a pain to find tyres for ( in the 1:1 realm ) , as only Michilin made them .
  10. Phantom Mark IV 1975 Corvette and a convertible at that ! Double-phantom !
  11. I've always like Rhiannon , esp for its use of the Celesta . Then of course , the Welsh folklore which influenced the song : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhiannon Gypsy is another personal favourite . The fact that Stevie mentions my favourite band by name in the song makes it okay in my mind ( ) : "So I'm back to the Velvet Underground / Back to the floor that I love..."
  12. I was just being a jerk , Harry ( ) . BTW ; Scott Thurston was the keyboardist in the 1972-1974 lineup of Iggy Pop & The Stooges .
  13. Financial consideration . I've already got the enamel gloss coat . BTW , the colour in question is Inca Gold .
  14. Please refresh my memory ; is it okay to use an enamel clear atop a lacquer base (colour coat) ? Namely , Testors One Shot colour coat with Testors Enamel Gloss Coat . Thanks .
  15. I don't wonder if it was some dealer brochure and / or a Hurst promo from 1983 ; perhaps even a calendar (note the stapled crease just below the '83's photo) ?
  16. Looks similar to the clear plastic that southwest U.S. toys eventually obtained as a result of the Sun . I had numerous toys with yellowed 'glass' and faded paint when I was a kid . I'd watch for how brittle that 'glass' is , too . The lightest pressure could crack the heck out of it !
  17. 1983 Oldsmobile Hurst Gallery .
  18. "Benmont Tench from the Heartbreakers on keys" AFAIK , The Heartbreakers consisted only of Johnny Thunders , Jerry Nolan , Walter Lure , and Billy Rath ( Richard Hell on bass guitar in their earlier iteration )
  19. Does that issue of the AMC / Rambler have the old Nash 287 / 327 V8 or does it have a "contemporary" AMC V8 ?
  20. The name of the builder of this sublime Datsun 620 escapes me right now ... some guy in Japan .
  21. I laughed so hard when I read your source ! HA HA HA HA HA !!
  22. I'll probably grab one or two of those Datsun kits , regardless of 80's mullet livery . I have the Black Hawk issue of the Datsun 620 ; it has a nice looking camper shell and has all of the stock parts ( including those poo-poo plastic tyres ! ) . Maybe I'll combine the two kits ; a 2-wheel-drive with the V8 and non-flipnose !
