As an animal lover , and as one whom has a Calico companion , I've long been fascinated with Tama , Super Stationmaster . Is any-one else familiar with this special kitty ? Tama turned age 16 years on 29-April !

1970 Dodge Charger R/T?

The 426-S ("Street Wedge") was a *stopgap* engine ; an upgrade from the 383 . The 440 was a C-body-only engine in 1966 (Chrysler's "T-N-T" was the first high perf version , which is a little-known fact). IIRC , the 1967 440 Magnum / Super Commando had plated valve covers , too ...

Some recent photos of my two feline companions , Molly Anne McCalico (ostensibly , the Calico) and Oliver Nathanel Hawthorne Sabastian (red/orange and white): " I just got home from getting my nails trimmed and am now going to take your chair over !" "Hi , daddy !" " Talking to my buddy Horatio ... why do you ask ??" "Thanks for brushing my fur ! My summer coat is coming in ."

If Harry , et al. , have a problem with my mentioning of , and linking to , "the other magazine" , then I will apologise . If I was aware of MCM running an article on the same / similar topic , I would have shared that link . I have no favourtism nor do I harbour any disdain ; this hobby is all about camaraderie .

What was your 1st 1 to car
1972coronet replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I didn't get my licence until I was 19 years of age (1989) , which is a (boring) story in its self , which I won't even get into here . In the summer of 1989 , I'd finally saved enough coin to buy a vehicle . I looked at a lot of garbage and was becoming discouraged . A neighbour was selling his original owner 1973 Rallye Challenger 340 ( F8 green , black interior , 3.55 gear , A/C , power disc brakes , manual steering , etc. , etc. ) . The only modification ever performed was the replacing of the 800 cfm Thermoquad with a Holley 4160 ; the T.Q. was part of the sale , however undesirable those carburetors were at the time . The car ran solid ; no unusual noises , sounds , creaks , etc. Probably one of the finest E-bodies to fly-out the doors of Dodge Main ! His asking price was $3,800 ... almost twice as much as my budget ! I can only imagine what that car in that condition would be worth these days ( remember : until c.1997 , cars built after 1970-1971 were undesirable , emissions-equipment laden , heavy , slow pigs ... ). I later was told that my folks would have loaned me the extra money to buy that Challenger . Oh , well ! I finally found a clean and reasonablly-priced car : 1972 Dart Swinger ! For what-ever reasons , the seller wouldn't tell me what colour the car was painted ! He said , "It'll be a surprise . Just come and check it out !" So , on a Sunday afternoon in late August 1989 , my family and I took a drive to Montebello to check out this 'mysterious' 1972 Dart . When we got to the seller's house , he said , "You're gonna love this car's color !" and he swung the garage door open , which revealled a Hemi Orange hardtop Dart . I was flabbergasted ! 1972 was the last year for Hemi Orange , and this car was a nice example . A test drive revealled a well-functioning air conditioning system ; a working AM radio ; a smooth 318 two barrel ; nice shifting 904 Torqueflite ; and a super clean white interior . I bought the car on the spot for $800 ! When I asked about the mystery surrounding the car's colour , the seller told me , "It seems that no one wants an orange car with white interior ! I wanted to keep the car's color a surprise , as no one was coming to see the car after I told them about the combination of orange and white ." Now , recall that this is the late 1980's . Most cars --- Muscle or otherwise --- were metallic colours , drab colours , bland colours ; a collection of stoich "Berlin Wall's east-side" cars. I had the Dart ( V.I.N. of LH23G2B307811 ) until July 1999 , when I sold it for $2,500 . Its 318 had over 300,000 miles on its bottom end , and had just lost compression . I piled 170,000 of those miles on the car . Without further ado , here's a photo of the car the day I brought it home , 29 August 1989 (Sterling Morrison's birthday !) : -
Tulio - Here is the direct link to the issue of Scale Auto Enthusiast that I was referencing : http://www.scaleautomag.com/Magazine%20Issues/1986/December%201986.aspx The article is : Eyeball Engineering By Pryor Passorino Kitbashing a '46-'48 Ford tudor sedan I am relatively certain that these 'back issues' of the magazine are for sale . Let me know if these older editions of the magazine are available , and if you are able to purchase the issue in question .

Remarkable Post-War coupe , Túlio ! You have the patience of a Neurosurgeon ; that kit is older than dirt ! Originally an IMC kit from c.1965 ... There's an article in a c.1986 issue of Scale Auto Enthusiast with a build-up and modification ( to the "Tudor" body-style ) of this gem . Unfortunately , I do not recall which issue the article is in , nor do I recall its author . Perhaps you could peruse their 'Back Issues' section on their site . Keep them gorgeous Ford Motor Company vehicles coming , my friend !

Love those late 50's / early 60's B-body Oldsmobiles ! These still had the original 4-speed Hydramatic IIRC , and were the last of the "P NDLo R" quadrant as well . Can't wait to see this beauty come together !

'Dremel' Knockoffs
1972coronet replied to 1972coronet's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you , Miles and Tom -
I would like some Dremel knockoff recommendations . I'm trying to remove the moulded-on drive shaft from the chassis of the MPC 1975-1976 Dart Sport chassis and have had zero luck with using files and such . Please give me your recommendations . Thanks .

Front wheels are Flys , back wheels are Spyders ; both made by Motor Wheels , c.1968- c.1974 -
After numerous ill-fated attempts at replicating the upholstery for the 1976 Dart Sport "Spirit of '76" (I tried fine-line Sharpie , tedious painting , etc. , etc.) , I'm going to do what I should have in the first place : buy the decal set from Keith !

I have an MPC promo of a 1975 Dart Sport , and it has screw-retainers at both ends . Heck , even the MPC 1974 Barracuda promo-come-kit (last available around 2004 or so) has screws ! I'm thinking that the type of screw changed in c.1966 ; a finer-thread versus a very coarse thread in earlier kits (at least Revell and , perhaps , Jo-Han) .

Kit source for a Chrysler 440 TNT engine?
1972coronet replied to beeRS's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
"T-N-T" was Chrysler's nomenclature for their high performance engines ( e.g. , "Magnum" = Dodge , "Super Commando" = Plymouth ) . The "T-N-T" stood for "Twin air cleaner snorkles-aNd-Twin exhaust" . -
Kit source for a Chrysler 440 TNT engine?
1972coronet replied to beeRS's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Some-one --a resin caster-- is reproducing the " 440 T-N-T " air cleaner , but I can't recall just who is repopping them . Another consideration : the rocker covers ( colloq. , "Valve Covers" ) differ from year-to-year . However , that's not as big a deal as it seems , and most of the changes were on 1970-1971 model year engines . The T-N-T 440 was Chrysler's first high performance version of the new-for-1966 440 (remember , the 440 was a C-Body only engine in 1966 ) . Let me see if I can pull up a couple of images of correct 1966-1969 440 engines ... 1966 T-N-T : 1966 383 T-N-T ( note : air cleaner I.D. is incorrect ! ) : Close look at the 1966-1967 Air Cleaner I.D. decal : As you can see , the crankcase breather is on the driver's side rocker cover , and the CCV is on the passenger-side . That arrangement changed in 1970 when the evapourative emissions package was introduced . I mention this as a caveate : the 1971 Charger 440 would be incorrect unless you want to modify its rocker covers . -
Very cool ! I like the Jaguar hood emblem .

Just found this gem whilst perusing eBay ; 1969 Mod Top decal : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dodge-Plymouth-Blue-Mod-Top-Vinyl-Top-decal/251887116041?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D444000%26algo%3DSOI.DEFAULT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D29005%26meid%3Da2024ee2180c42be8871576ea342b252%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D251888101545&rt=nc I recognise that this seller --at least in-name -- is new ; any-one have experience with their product(s) ?
