  1. Here's some pics of my two lovers : Molly Anne McCalico , Age 12 years . Rescued from the local shelter in 2002 when she was 6 months . Oliver Nathanel Hawthorne Sabastian , Age 11 years . Rescued from the same shelter as Molly , on 14th Feb 2004 , age 8 months. Both of my lovers together :
  2. The mirrors alone fetch a pretty penny !
  3. As much as I love my 2013 Civic , there is too much "nanny" about it ; chiming noises which command me to put the seat belt on ( QUIT already ! I'm only driving around the apartment complex ! ) ; annoying screen with back-up camera display and other displays ( no , I don't care if some-one sent me a text message while I'm driving ! ) ; and , the latest annoyance (not limited to the Civic) : "T.P.M.S." !! Okay, one of the tyres is low on its recommended pressure ; but which one !?!? You can have your BMW's ( I do really like their older vehicles , and would gladly take a European-spec M6 Alpine ! ) and other fancy "incredible lease opportunity" college boy rides . I'll stick with the K.I.S.S. principal , and will continue to enjoy my 1972 Dodge for what it's worth : no computers , no smog equipment (not much of it to begin with , and what was there has been removed ) , no radio , no heater , no nothing . Just a well-worn 318 V8 which produces real engine sounds ! iDrive . Puh-leeze !
  4. Nice detailling on that Promo ! I remember when this Promo and its companion Kit were released in early 1988 ; I could hardly await their arrival ! Every pickup kit from the 80's was a flippin' 4 wheel drive , and I needed a 2 wheel drive ! I can still see the review by our own Terry Jesse in a late 1987 issue of 'SAE' . He'd received an early production Promo ; he added some Bare Metal Foil to it in order to accent its side mouldings . His words were , "The collectors are probably going to kill me , but I just had to add some detail to [this promo] ..."
  5. 1970 Barracuda (et al.) brochure : http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/dealerships/1970PlymouthDealershipDataBook-01.shtml
  6. The fascia of the Dodge and Plymouth B-Body (mid-sized) platform changed for 1975 ; that was the year of the single headlamp arrangement . A minor cosmetic change to stacked , square headlamps was introduced for 1977 . Plymouth grille = full-width (1975-1978) Dodge grille = split , individual grilles (1975-1978)
  7. If you're planning to replicate a 1977 model , remember that the 77's had ambre turn signals in their tail lamp lenses . Additionally ; if you're planning to replicate a California Highway Patrol unit , it's a little known fact that these --and their civilian counterparts-- did not have the Electronic Lean Burn computer . Instead , the California cars had all of the smog junk ( Catalytic Converter(s) , EGR , A.I.R. Pump , etc. ) . Regarding the steering wheel : While the kit's tiller is *technically* incorrect , its presence isn't out of the realm of possibility . That "Tuff-Grip" wheel certainly could have been ordered on an "A38" ( Police Car Conversion Package ) , as well as a civilian model . The 'Partial Horn Ring' tiller is most common ; that's what the Yodel kits have . My biggest complaints about this kit --since its inception some thirty years ago-- are : - Manual transmission . Only available with the 225 Slant Six . - 1966 & earlier brake master cylinder . - 1968-1969 engine air cleaner . - Those stupid tyres and wheels ( ) . An excellent source for original , factory-issued brochures and other factory info , is Hamtramck Historical : 1970 .
  8. 1969-1974/1975 ; 1975-c.1980 . The Dodge hub caps in the Missing Link lineup are the 1969-1974/1975 models . A similar version was used on pickups and B-vans ; those were non-anodised and unpainted , c.1974-c.1976 .
  9. That's some new info for yours truly ! I have only seen the gold coloured engines ( and silver in Mexico-built , Mexican market V8 engines ) . The 'light blue' is the same as the "1972 Blue" engine colour as the U.S. market engines ? I also recognise the 1969 & earlier radiator . Makes me wonder ; was the stamping / tooling sold to the Brasil assembly plant ?
  10. In spite of this kit's (unrecognisable to me) shortcomings , it's still a fun kit to build . Yours looks quite nice ! I like these Stooges as well ------>
  11. The exact reason why I didn't go for the 'Pre-Sale' offerings on eBay ; not enough evidence of the kit's arrival , just speculation .
  12. I emailed Round2 in regard to this kit's release date . Their reply was , "There is no official release date as of yet." (to paraphrase) . Perhaps the alleged "factory-bash" between the MPC body and the AMT chassis (etc.) didn't work so well ?
  13. - 1967 GT / GT+S Dart ( 273 and 383 engines ; 4-speed and 904-LA transmissions ) - 1970 Swinger 340 (automatic and 4-speed) - 1970 Duster / Duster 340 ( base models' dash and 340's rallye dash ) - 1974 Monaco - 1977 / 1978 Monaco - 1971 / 1972 El Camino / GMC Sprint (especially an SP-1 version !) - 1995 / 1996 Caprice 9C1
  14. Do not hesitate ! Missing Link produces the absolute best resin parts !
  15. Not to dampen your spirits , Obsessive ; there's more to performing a 'properly-converted' 1967 Dart than meets they eye . The biggest pain would be the upholstery pattern and door panels ; and assuming that you could build your own grille (not that I'm doubting your abilities) , you'd also have to recreate the trunk embellishment (which is exclusive to 1967) ; the tail lights are easy . There are a host of little differences between the 1967-1968-1969 A-bodies . Which body style / model are you planning to replicate ?
  16. I believe that the 'controversy' has more to do with the idea that a "1:1" 1980 Road Runner was built , and not so much the existance of the MPC kit . Thanks for posting a pic of the kit's box , Robert . I only posted a link to the one which I'd purchased .
  17. Honestly , I'm employing a liberal application of the Road Runner nomenclature . The MPC kit isn't named as such , nor do its decals allude to the car being so much as an annual ! From what I understand , the 1980 Plymouth Volare brochure didn't even *mention* the availability of the R.R. ( "A57" ) package . It's too bad that Hamtramck Historical ends its info at the 1979 model year . I certainly recall seeing one 1980 Volare "A57" back when they were new ( I was age 10 when the '80's premiered ). It was Sable Brown Metallic or something like that and it had the aforementioned cast alloy wheels , in anodised gold . Here , for the sake of argument , here's a photo of a real 1980 Road Runner :
  18. I recall reading an article in Mopar Action back in ca.1992 about that particular car , albeit with a different paint / colour scheme . Its class was I/SA or J/SA ...
  19. You beat me to the punch here ! Indeed , the Demon's tail lamps / panel was supposed to be for the 1971 Duster 340 model specifically . Their shape was supposed to compliment the 1971 340 (and 'Twister') grille ; not sure if the regular , non-340 Duster was designated to receive the same tail lamps ...
  20. Unfortunately , no . I haven't the equipment to take and upload pics ; I'm still living in the Dark Ages . However , I can share the images from the original ad ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEALED-Fuzz-Duster-1979-Vintage-MPC-1-25th-scale-Plymouth-/191161794459
  21. I couldn't afford to buy a real , untouched MPC 1972 Charger annual , so I got the closest thing that I could : a glue bomb (not terribly so) , paint bomb (looks like one can of paint was used just on the interior bucket !) , builder . The price was right for this one year only model (and those one year only louvered doors !) , so I bit . One of its previous owners sanded-off the door handles and side markers ; the front and rear bumpers are from the 1971 annual ( "1971" on the license plates ; moulded in orange) ; the hood is off of a yellow-moulded version (1971 , again ?) and is sans cowl louvers . What's *odd* about this kit is that the body appears to be based-upon one of the NASCAR ( Buddy Baker , et al.) kits : - No front parking lamps - Stock Car-style fuel filler (plugged and filled by a previous owner) So , I'm seriously considering a bash of this kit with the new(er) AMT 1971 R/T Charger , with the biggest swap being the doors ; the hood is easily dealt with ; and , I can fashion my own 1972 & later side markers . Also ; included in the sale was the AMT 440 Magnum / TorqueFlite , topped-off with the 1965-1967 , 383 / 413 / 426W style air cleaner from the '72 Charger . My plan is to build a reasonablly-accurate 440 Six Pack replica . The "1:1" 440 Six Pack for 1972 was a virtual anomaly ; this is as close as I'll ever get to owning a 1-of-2 Charger !
  22. I bought an MPC 1980 Road Runner (labelled as "Fuzz Duster") via eBay , and am pleased to report some great things about it ; to wit : - It can be built stock ( there was some conjecture about this , as the box art alludes to a customised-only version . Rest assured , 100% of the previous releases' factory stock parts are still included ! ) ; - The 1980-only grille (square head lights and Diplomat grate) is nicely done ; - The old standby 318 / 360 with its backup TorqueFlite is still there ; - Minimal flash . Of course , the stock tyres are still moulded in polystrene ... however , they are at least black in this iteration ! The 1980 Road Runner was relegated to an option package ("A57" , as were all 1976 & up "Road Runners" ) . The real downside was its "power"plant options : - Standard 225 Slant Six - 318 two barrel (four barrel in Calif Emissions guise) Naturally , Direct Connection sold performance upgrades (Edelbrock manifolds , Holley carbs , etc. , etc.) . That's how I'm planning to build my version !
  23. I like how N.Y. has returned to a classy-style license plate design ! Not exactly the orange / blue gems of the 70's( ) but pretty close to perfection .
  24. Out of principal . I have a penchant for Do it once , do it right , or don't do it at all that I've carried with me for my entire work life . I don't care much for the way business is conducted these days ; in particular, the auto parts business . There are just too many clean cut college boys , and they're all making decisions which negatively affect business . A friend used to ask me , "Why would you want to buy yourself a job ?!? With that much money , you wouldn't have to work again !" . It's not that I'm afraid of boredom ; I just don't wish to live a sedentry lifestyle .
