GMC "Big Block" V6 and 702 "Twin-Six"
1972coronet replied to 1972coronet's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Nice Twin-Six , Pat ! -
I'll toss my hat into the ring : 1.) Newly-Tooled 1955-1957 Nomad . Perhaps even a modified-reissue of the existing tooling of the old AMT 1/16 scale kits : - New custom version tyres and wheels (those S/ST's and those nasty Good Year tyres from the original must go !) - New custom engine upgrades (the turbo is dated !) - A full compliment of decals 2.) 1970-1971 Barracuda . - Offer both a hardtop and a convertible - All 3 models ( "BH" Barracuda , "BP" Gran Coupe , and "BS" 'Cuda ) 3.) 1971-1972 Demon - 340 and big block options Harry P. alluded to European subjects : 1.) Renault R5 Turbo 2.) BMW M6 (circa 1986-1988) Alpine

Check out that wrinkled quarter panel (just-forward of the wheel arch) ! Chemical Milling has its merits ... and its downfalls .

Thanks , guys .

I was just made aware of this tragedy today ; on 6th July 2014 @ 0815 HRS , a long-time client and hell of a nice guy parished in a plane crash (he was the pilot) : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2693498/Father-49-dies-small-plane-crash-two-sons-law-widowing-wife-two-pregnant-daughters.html Eerily , my friend (and coworker ; the Assistant Manager) and his father witnessed the crash on that fateful morning , as they were boating on the lake (which I redundantly refer to as "Lake du Luc") . Apparently , my friend witnessed the "poof and plume" , completely unaware of the nature of the smoke ( ). You will be missed , Doug ! Thank you for , not only your business , but for being a hell of a great guy , too ! "See you when I get there , if they'll let me in."

Don Grotheer 1970 Cuda

Permit me to add a couple of more carrots to this stew ; here's a link to the 1974 'Body Tooling Proof' Barracuda : http://barnfinds.com/one-of-none-1974-plymouth-barracuda/ This certainly qualifies as a Body-In-White ! -
On the opposite end of that spectrum ; my dad (age 77) actually enjoys some of the music in my collection . He really likes John Cale 'Vintage Violence' (1970) , Television 'Marquee Moon' (1977) , Love ,'Forever Changes' (1967) , and Velvet Underground 'Velvet Underground' (1969) ! Your son will hopefully develop an appreiation for Dave Brubeck , etc. That kind of music takes real talent to compose , create , and perform , unlike Beiber , and his ilk .

!!! NICE !!! I've been wanting one ever since seeing one of its modified-reissues in the early 80's . I've come close to bidding on a few of the original 'annual' version , but too often , the kit was started or missing parts ... On a related note ; this looks cool : http://round2models.com/models/amt/chevy-chezooom-corvair

What did you see on the road today?
1972coronet replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At the local , independent tyre store had a nice , driver-quality 1974 Road Runner coupe ( RM21L4G ) . F8 / F8 / V4W , console , Tuff-Grip wheel , 3.55's , TorqueFlite . This marks the first time that I've seen a post-1971 coupe ( bodystyle "21" ) ; most are hardtops ( bodystyle "23" ) . -

Late yesterday , I heard some-thing with a menacing sound ; it ended up being a 1971 GMC Sprint ! Wish that I could've snapped a couple of cell phone pics of it ; however , I was talking on said cell phone to a friend , so I missed out ... It sure was a beauty ! It was painted that typical early 70's GM light-medium gold metallic , and it had those c.1970 Z-28 wheels (dark argent centre with bright argent ring). I wonder if it had the Invader 454 ? -
Stock Datsun 240z Kits?
1972coronet replied to DynoMight's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Revell produced a c.1972 Datsun 240-Z in 1972 , and it has been reissued a few times since its introduction ; I haven't seen it since c.2004 . There are rumours of it being reissued some-time this year ... -

HA ! A couple of you got the reference ... -
Super nice BS23R0B there , Cruz ! I agree with everyone's adoration of the Keystone Kustoms ; they're absolutely perfect !

Revell Sox & Martin Pro Stock Cuda
1972coronet replied to kitswapper's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yes , I am aware of that , Cruz . Believe me , I'm not calling you out on your comparison , and I apologise if it seems that way . I absolutely love your work , your craftsmanship . -
Revell Sox & Martin Pro Stock Cuda
1972coronet replied to kitswapper's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Isn't the stance a bit higher on the finished kit than your as-proposed stance ? I won't dispute that the slicks' outer-diametre is obviously larger on the Revell tyres ; however , I believe that the rear of the car sits-up higher than in the photos you've (thoughtfully) presented . -

Out on the road today , I saw a Dead Head sticker on a Cadillac . -
Perhaps it's the *dreaded* licensing issue , but I'd like to see the following icons : - Baldwin-Motion Phase III Vega ; 1971-1972 Phase III Chevelle . - 1967-1968 Dana 427 Camaro - Mr. Norms 1967 Dart GSS 383 / 440 ; 1971 "Tri-Power" Demon 340 ; 1972 Demon GSS 340 with Paxton Supercharger - Fred Gibb 1969 ZL-1 (really , just a new decal sheet for the existing Revell '69 427 COPO Camaro ... and perhaps a TH-400 with column shift ) - 1978 Little Red Express (not that joke of a kit from MPC !!) - Randall AMC "XR" Gremlin 401

Revell Sox & Martin Pro Stock Cuda
1972coronet replied to kitswapper's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'd have to dig for the original (e.g. , the 2-in-1 from earlier this year) and compare the two . Frankly , the fender flares don't bother me on this version as it's a race car any-how . Sorry to disappoint you , Lee ( ) . Perhaps I'll have to find the stock version tomorrow and compare the two ... -
Revell Sox & Martin Pro Stock Cuda
1972coronet replied to kitswapper's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I quite literally just received the Sox & Martin Pro Stock Barra(cuda) from the gorgeous local mail courier ( it's every bit of 95 degrees and 60% humidity at this time ! ). After quickly closing the door to my bedroom ( I have a *very* curious American Shorthair feline who's 11 years old , but acts like he's 11 months old ! ) , I carefully opened the packaging ( thank you , Model Roundup , for the excellent packaging job ! ) and shuffled the Atlanta-area newspaper stuffing around , and there it was ! A sharp #11 Exacto slisked-through the plastic seal , and in short order --and with my nosey American Shorthair crying at the door-- I was perusing the kit's contents . The decal sheet was placed thoughtfully inside the instruction sheet ( thanks for fixing that ordeal , Revell ; my stock 'Cuda had its decal sheet under the instructions , and wedged-against the box's corner ! ) , and it's a beautiful decal sheet ! The new parts look splendid ! Kudos for casting the correct Competition Plus shifter with its companion reverse-lockout lever . The headers look nice ; the custom oil pan is a nice touch ( with a little work , an exact replica is possible ) ; the Keystone Kustoms are righteous ; the slicks are nice (except for the lack of "Firestone" nomanclature... ) ; and the hood is great ! I'm thinking of building either a Super Stock or Modified Production version ... not sure yet . Good job , Revell ! -
Was there ever a dart kit between 1970-1974?
1972coronet replied to ianguilly's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The only "Dart" (or , 'A'-Body Dodge) that was produced in stock form between 1970-1974 was the coveted MPC 1971 Demon 340 annual . No two door hardtops ( "23" bodystyle ) were produced , other than the aforementioned "Wild Bill" Shrewsberry L.A. Dart , the Ramchargers Funny Car , and the recently-reissued "roundy-round" dirt track '70 / '71 Dart . We , the builders , the enthusiasts , have been crying for absolutely decades about the lack of factory-stock 1970-1972 Darts ! ( personally , I'd like to see a 1971 "LL23H1R" : the Canadian-market , 340-powered Swinger Special . They were again built for the 1972 model year. They.Are.Rare !) -
A young Tim Boyd!?
1972coronet replied to unclescott58's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
SRC ! (Scott Richardson _ _ ? ) ...embarrassed that I can't recall that acronym right now ( ) . I did some art work for Michael Davis ( MC5's bassist ) a few years ago . He hooked me up with a T-shirt , some stickers (one of which is placed-on the backlite of my '72 Coronet) , and some buttons ; a hand-written post card , too ! He passed away a few months later ( ) . I had no idea that he'd fallen ill ... First Stooges album I heard was 1973's Raw Power . That was in late 1985 ; a friend had it on vinyl , original-issue (he had tons of rare records , including the Velvet Underground & Nico (1966) , with the peel-off banana on its cover !!) . One of the days I met my friend for our walk to school , I heard the harangue by J.C. Crawford : "Brothers and sisters , let me see a sea of hands out there !! ..." , and I thought that my friend was listening to some rogue Motown group . The music kicked my 15 year old butt straight-across the room !! It wasn't until I picked-up the album's sleeve that I realised that the MC5 were Caucasian ! Scott Asheton was a nice guy ! He's another one that I kept in contact with (via MySpace originally , then Facebook) . He loved my artwork ! We also talked about cars and dragsters and racing ! So bummed when I found out about his passing ( ) . Ron Asheton ... he was a feline lover like me ! Lots of pics of him and his kitties . That's so cool that you got to see the best-of-the-best of the Detroit (and its 'surrounding' cities) bands !
