`70 Plymouth Cuda "AAR" 340 + 6 pack-Revell
1972coronet replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I wonder if contemporary Parts Packs would "solve" the variations "issues" ? Let's say that Revell were to instead make available separate engines (340 and a "generic" 383/440) , separate transmissions (727 Torqueflite and 833 four speed) , separate differentials (really , just the 8.75" variant , as the coveted Dana 60 already exists in the present offerings) , manual drum brake master cylinder , etc. etc. Thoughts ? -
As a life-long resident of southern California , let me cast my vote for a Dana option ! As many times as I'd passed-by that address and its building , I never knew that it was once host to thee premiere Chevy dealership !

I'd love to see an AAR variation as well , if for nothing else , an 83/4 differential that'll be a direct drop-in ! -
Awakenings* is my favourite film with him as its main star . *A film from c.1990 whose topic is the L-Dopa experiments .

Remembering back when...
1972coronet replied to clovis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I grew up in the western section of Whittier (Ca.) , just north of Whittier Bouldvard ; yes , that Whittier Boulevard ! As far back as I can remember , I witnessed many cool cars ; the Lowriders and the Classics , and every-thing in between . By the time I started high school ( 1985 ) , there were only a handful of really neat vehicles around on a daily basis (the Whittier Boulevard cruising scene having died-off by 1982) . The part of town where I lived mostly consisted of lower-middle-class families ; all of the upper-middle and well-heeled folks lived a stone's throw away in the hills , or a few miles to the east in East Whittier . As a result , the cars around the H.S. lot varied greatly ; any-thing from the 1965 Oldmobile F-85 with the base 225 Econ-o-Jet 225 Odd-Fire V6 , to some beat-up 70's VW Bugs , and finally , the super-rare 1986 IROC-Z with the 350 ( at that time , the 305 was the biggest V8 , as the coveted 350 wasn't emissions certified for the F-Body ) . Only around 9,000 were made , all automatics. Its owner was the premiere football player . I was friends with his younger brother . Apparently , my friend and his older brother got a sizeable inheritance ; the older brother was able to cash his in as he was 18 . Nice family , too . Totally deserved a nice ride . The teachers had some cool cars , from a 1969 Dart Western Sport Special ( 225 Slant , column-shift auto , white vinyl top ) to a 1970 Challenger coupe (fixed quarter glass and a plug for the window crank) . It was a 318 , 3-speed floor shift , in B7 blue . The coach and the shop teachers both had 1962 GMC pickups with the "odd" GMC V6 (305 cubes) . In the mid-80's , there were a few Mod kids around . The majority of them rode Vespas and Lambrettas , adorned in Quadraphenia livery ( 20 mirrors , chequered splash guards , RAF decals , etc. , etc.) . Their appearance had a huge influence on me personally ! I especially dug the "Softies" (longer-hair version of the classic Mod) , and was afraid of the "Hard" Mods (Traditional Skinheads ; not the racist skins , but rather "bald Mods"). Believe it or not , there wasn't much in the way of Muscle cars around . Maybe a few small block SS Nova and Buick GS models ; the real Muscle being owned by older guys (late 20's and older) and seldom seen by any-one. As for me ? I didn't get my license until I was 19 ! -
Old MPC annual , Chuck ? Looks great !

1965 Mopar Altered Wheelbase Cars

If I remember correctly , Landy's 1965 "WO51-come-A/FX" Coronet was sold off in c.1966 ; its new owner / sponsor was Studio Dodge (North Hollywood , 213-SUnset-80071) . So , those "two" A/FX Coronets didn't "exist" at the same time . -
Pink Floyd ( originally , The Pink Floyd Sound ) "stopped" being Pink Floyd as early as 1967 (with its guitarist / songwriter , Syd Barrett , now "relieved of his duties") , but maybe as late as 1979 (Roger Waters' defection) . Pink Floyd , c.1965 (no David Gilmour to be found !) Pink Floyd , c.1967 It's akin to comparing , ahem , Apples and Oranges ...

You'd have to ask Boyd Coddington or George Washington about that one

"NEW" MPC Dukes of Hazzard kit not what you expected
1972coronet replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Wouldn't it be great if Round2 (et al.) were to market their snap kits toward the elementery schools ? Let's call it a "leave-your-electronic-leashes-OFF-for-an-hour-day" or some-thing to that effect . Firstly , if Round2 were to donate the kits to the schools , they'd certainly receive a tax write-off or tax credit , in addition to providing the most inexpensive and fully-effective Public Relations investment conceived ! Any-one else with me on this ? -

The Sonics !!! An influential , inspirational , supersonic band that's underrated . Huge influence on the Garage bands and the Proto-Punk bands . How'd they sound ?

Just like "Squeeze" ( Velvet Underground , 1973 ) : zero original members ( Cale got "fired" in 1968 ; Reed boned-out before 'Loaded' was released in 1970 ; Tucker didn't play on the aforementioned album ; and , Morrison left in 1971 . Doug Yule ( John Cale's *replacement* ) carried the band's name on from 1971-1973 , with all-new members . What's the MC5 sans Tyner (deceased , age 46 , in 1991) , Smith (deceased , age 45 , in 1994) , and Davis (deceased , age 68 , in 2011) ? Well , at least Kramer and Thompson don't intimate any sort of sembalence vis-a-vis a "reunion" (Okay , the D-K-T / MC3 shows are the only exception !). Now with 3/4 of the original Stooges deceased ( Alexander , age 27 , in 1975 ; the Asheton brothers : Ron , age 61 , in 2009 ; and Scott , age 64 , in 2014 ) , how can they go-on under that nomenclature ? Maybe a rekindling of the Kill Cities type stuff can be resurrected by Pop & Williamson ...

That's a solid drop-top Cad there , Dale ! I don't typically care for Daytons ; however , your utilisation of them here just looks appropriate .

All of those T.V. programme "1972" Challenger and Barracuda convertibles were converted (or , cosmetically updated) 1971 models . Other 'phantom' 1972 convertible Chrysler 'E'-bodies which were featured in T.V. programmes : - Brady Bunch ( 340 / column-shift Torqueflite , GB5 Blue / B5 Blue interior ) - Mod Squad (340 / column-shift Torqueflite , medium gold metallic , black interior , black top , black stripes ** ) ** = the R/T model convertible was dropped by Chrysler for 1971 . The as-specified models received stripes which emulated the R/T stripes , but were a little longer in order to compensate for the lack of "R/T" callouts .

I also feel that the backlite (technical term for "rear window") on the resin kit looks too small . Certainly , the existing casting flash could make the specific-to-the-1970-only S.E. shape appear to be too small , as could other factors ( lighting , camera angle , etc. ). It's too bad that none of the fledgling resin casters / artisans have created the coveted 1970-1971 Dodge "W11" 14" Deluxe Wheel Covers ...

That license plate number certainly has its place on a 1987 model year vehicle : "2" = "Golden State" series , passenger car "D" = 1987 calendar year issue The remaining alpha-numeric sequence is *arbitrary* . Here's What I Would Like To See ( In Regard To The Original Post ) : - 1971-come-1972 Barracuda convertible from The Brady Bunch - 1968-1969 Satellite police version (RK41-H8A / RK41-H9A) from Adam 12 - 1974 Monaco police car ( DK41-U4D ) from CHiPs , et al. - 1977 / 1978 Monaco police ( WK41-U7A / U8A ) - 1971 / 1972 Valiant Duel
