  1. Juan , I totally admire your ambition and drive ! Keep the faith and keep up the great work ! Your colour choices for engines and whatnot are really unique ; that Hemi looks super cool ! I am happy that you didn't "lose your religion" over the ignition wiring *ordeal* . I am certain that your building skills will continue to improve en masse !
  2. From what I understand ----and believe me , I'm as dumb as a bag of bricks---- the 1964 Super Stock Plymouths and Dodges were available in two flavours : -- Early , Stage III 426 Wedge were 'sedans' (e.g. , the B-pillar / framed glass) -- "Late" , 426 Hemi were hardtops I could be *wrong* on this ; it may've been a wives' tale from eons ago that the Wedges were 'sedans' and Hemis were hardtops .
  3. Thanks for sharing these photos , Neil . I spy the Touchtone Terror A-100 (isn't this the coveted version ; the one with the phone booth ? Stands to reason given its nomanclature ...) . Dig that groovy box art ! Then there's the Race tyres and wheels ... YES !!! It's great to see some vintage wheels in the mix . And , last but certainly not least : Lawman !! Looks like another sublime year from Round2 . Thanks again , Neil !
  4. I've ne'er heard of a "501" Dodge . "500" model , yes ; but not with a "1" suffix . That's of little consequence here anyhow . I'll have to check into 1957 Dodge models now , as you've piqued my interest in this subject
  5. ... not to mention that there are other "dimensional" considerations , too . Things like , say , cowl vent depth : narrow and shallow may be how the vents are on the real "1:1" car ; however , when those vents are scalled-down to 25th their size , they appear as though they'd get buried under one coat of primer ! Take the hood scoops' height for another instance ; perhaps they'll "look right" once the requisite primer and colour coats are applied . Moot Point : 1970 Barracudas and Challengers were built in two different assembly plants : Hamtramck (Detroit) and Commerce (Los Angeles) . The only exceptions being : 1.) AAR and T/A 2.) Hemi models 3.) Convertibles 4.) Special Orders (colour combinations , and-or the above mentioned models) Those models were built only in the Detroit plant . It'd stand to reason that there *may* be differences in the stampings . I know that Los Angeles' fender tags have a totally different font for the characters .
  6. I don't have any pics to share , but I'm certain that never-the-less most of you will at least recall these kits : 1.) 1968 Hurst-Hemi Dart . Originally slated for release in 1996 , it was mentioned in the 1995 Revell-Monogram catalogue . A photo of a red 1:1 was pictured in the back pages of the catalogue. 2.) 1983 Corvette . The only year that the Corvette wasn't produced since its 1953 intro ! Truly , the 1984 models were the same thing as the slated '83 models . Production was postponed as the engineers worked feverously to get those digitised instruments to function . I remember when that other model car magazine ran an article on "ghost kits" , back in '84 or '85 (maybe at late as '86 or '87 ...)
  7. I bought the circa 2008 revised-reissue of the 1970 AAR 'Cuda ... ... only for its separate battery , heater hoses , etc. , etc. , to use on the old standby 1971 Hemi 'Cuda
  8. LX coupe had vastly different tail lamps . In addition to their horisontal pattern , they had ambre turn signal / hazard lenses (why aren't these required yet ?!? I despise red-coloured turn signals !!).
  9. My therapist contends that the Frankenstein 'Cuda had clear lenses , whereas the 1971 original had the chromed pieces . My therapist is rarely wrong ... after all , she is my wife , too . The kittens are just fine , by the way
  10. I honestly believe that all of us just want for Revell to succeed in spades with this release , hence the sincere criticism . The prototype's lack of clear tail light lenses is just that : prototype . I'm just happy that Revell had at least something to share in respect to their progress . Do I want for clear lenses ? Yes . Will the (potential) lack of them deter me from buying at *least* one when it's released ? No. Now , a malproportioned body just might keep me from buying it ...
  11. What kit are you starting with ; the ol' Monogram 1969 Super Bee ? That kit is "wrong" in a few areas : 1.) Magnum 500 wheels . All "A12" Bees and R.R.'s had unique-to-them 15"x6" C-Body police car wheels , painted high-gloss black , and with chromed lug nuts . 2.) Power disc brakes . You have already figured this one out 3.) Plymouth emblem on the rear seat (?!) . For whatever reason , this obvious gaffe eluded me until someone else pointed it out to me . It has been at least 20 years since I have even seen the contents of that ol' Monogram Super Bee ! Last one I bought was on sale for $1.00 at Kay Bee Toys ; the original version moulded in blue metallic ! Please keep us posted with your progress and keep those questions coming
  12. Power-assist brakes were optional , but rarely ordered ; I have seen only one such example . These cars were only available with drum brakes ; disc brakes were not an option . This applies only to these "A12" Super Bee / Road Runner cars .
  13. '68 BH23H8B in Q5 with black interior , T-Flite , 3.55 , AM-FM (factory) ... Rare piece !
  14. I've had a love for the R5 since I first laid me peepers on one back in 1983 ! It was charcoal grey with a charcoal and red interior and some subtle blue accents . Its "L"-shaped tiller really grabbed my attention ! It was apparent that whomever owned the car got it via the black market , as it was sans the hideous US-spec side marker lamps , big truck bumpers , and catalytic converter . Don't concern yourself too much with the paint fubar , Juan . Afterall , it is a Rallye car and not some primped street car . Battle scars add to the flavour ! BTW , does Tamiya still produce this kit in 'street' form ?? I want one !! Heck , even a race-prepped version would suffice (other than its tyres) ...
  15. I built the Brat back in '79 or '80 ; and I built the Rabbit in the early 80's . I bought the Subaru at Woolworth's in La Mirada . I remember building it wheil watching the Carol Burnette Show ! I bought the Rabbit at JC Penney's in Whittier for $1.00 from their clearance aisle , back around 1983 . I had my older friend spray paint the body with Testors Car Colors (remember those ?) Sky Blue Metallic , and I ahnd painted the interior in Testors Flat Sea Blue . I , too , would LOVE to see these kits reissued ! I can see a WRX Boxster engine swap into that Brat ...
  16. Oh , okay , gotcha . A converted 426 Street Wedge would have a regular interior . It's of little consequence ; yours looks great !
  17. From everything I've read / seen in my 43 years , 1965 "WO51" had 'champagne' interior ; not sure about the "RO51" . Not that you've asked , but : 1964 had red interior ; 1966 D-Dart was red ; 1967 had black ; and , 1968 Hurst A-bodies were black .
  18. Don't know why those addresses didn't show as links ... Guess you'll have to cop & paste their addresses to your address bar .
  19. Honestly , it's been a while since I've purchased any since I haven't had to buy replacements . However , the last time I was at HobbyTownUSA in Temecula , Ca. , I recognised an entire rack of Gunze paints ! None were marked as "Clearance" , so I'm *guessing* that they're still receiving shipments ; the racks were relatively full . I also used to buy them at thee premiere hobby store in Burbank , Ca. I'll edit this post with their respective website addresses (both stores) so thaty ou may contact them directly . Burbank House of Hobbies : houseofhobbies.com Hobby Town USA :hobbytown.com
  20. Plast-i-Struct makes sheets of clear acetate in varying gages . ( I hope that your replica of the Harrell '69 L-88 isn't going to include those incorrect-for-1969 wheels ... )
  21. I , too , have had good luck with Gunze's line of paints . My favourite colour is Burnt Iron ; its finish is dead flat ; its dry time is short ; and its application is easy . Equal to Tamiya in every way , at least in my experiences
  22. I hope that Revell "sees the 'light'" ,and that they move the lenses to the clear parts tree ... Please ! Even the ill-fated 1970 AAR 'Cuda ---in both iterations , 1994 and 2008--- had clear lenses !
  23. YES !!! I've never seen a '68-'69 Nova with a 4 popper , but I know that they exist . Good call on replicating one of these oddballs ! My mother had a 1963 Chevy II with a 4 cylinder . Its only options were 4 speed and AM radio ; just a base 2 door post . From everything that I've read , a 4 cyl / 4 speed "II" is quite rare . Did these 4 banger Nova come with 13" wheels or 14" ?
  24. That standard ( non-Shaker ) hood looks like it'd be a cool custom piece , especially with some creative bold-stripe decals or painting ! The sides of the body look a little too tall to me . Not "slab-sided" , just too tall . Perhaps it's just the combination of the monochrome kit and convention hall lighting which create an illusion ? I'm loving the separate wipers , the nicely rounded windshield surround , the interior (what I can see of it) and its options . I just hope that the tail lights are moulded clear and not chrome or red ! I would also like to see the trim rings and centre caps moulded separate from the Rallye Wheels .
  25. Am I seeing things , or are all of the exterior lights moulded clear ??? That's the way (uh-huh , uh-huh) I like it (uh-huh , uh-huh , uh-huh) !
