  1. I , too , was considering purchasing one or two of these hoods , as I want to use 'em on the AMT 1971 Duster 340 . Jeff , I too wish for you a speedy recovery . Also , please accept my most sincere condolences in regard to the loss of your father . Chuck "Rat Nasty" is a very good person to deal with in regard to buying from him . I bought two MPC 1973 Duster annuals from him last year , and the process was very easy-going ; everything was as-promised .
  2. Super Nice ! I'm always pleased when I see a vintage 1/4 Miler whose sponsors were dealerships which were close to my hometown ( Cone Chevrolet [Fullerton] , Don Steves Chevrolet [La Habra], Ricker Motors AMC [Whittier] , Bill Kraft AMC [Norwalk] , etc. ) , and your gorgeous build exemplifies this
  3. Loving it so far ! Perfect colour choice ; gold looks sweet on early 70's MoPar B & E bodies (certain A bodies ,too) . I don't know which set of wheels I like at this point in your progress ... Maybe once its interior and stripe combo will decide me (and you as well ...) .
  4. Funny you should mention this , as their bolt pattern was the first thing I noticed about them ! I worked with someone whose daily driver was a 1970 Swinger 340 . He bought the car new in late '69 , and used it as his daily driver from day one . He added the Cragar S/S wheels in 1972 ; said they were difficult to find even back then ! That stupid , frustrating 5x4 bolt pattern plagued "A" bodies from their intro in 1960 , through at least 1972 (Slant Six , drum brake cars had that stupid pattern through 1975 !) , with the 1968 Hurst-Hemi twins being the only exception. Such an odd artifact that R-M would supply these exclusive-to-Chrysler-A-Bodies-bolt-pattern wheels in a Ford kit !
  5. I've seen resin copies of the California Flash '72 Duster hood on eBay ; sorry I don't have a link to the seller .
  6. I missed this last time 'round (circa 2003) , but am going to get one this time ; gonna massage the outta it ! I like the decals for their inclusion of the phone number to Roth's business ; the old "LUdlow" prefix in Maywood / Huntington Park .
  7. Attention Round2 : Pretty please update / upgrade and reissue the MPC 1971 Road Runner ! Make it a 2-in-1 by adding the 1972 front and rear bumpers / grille / lamps / Rallye wheels , plus some vintage aftermarket wheels , tyres and decals ; also , include instructions on how to change the side marker lamps from the '71 model to the '72 "universal" markers . Anyone else think this would be cool ??
  8. I've said it before and I'll say it again : I'd love to see Round2 repackage their excellent 70 1/2 Camaro as a 2-in-1 kit , containing parts for both the Baldwin-Motion 454 Phase III and the LT-1 Z28 version ! THAT would be a dynamic duo ! Imagine the mix-and-match possibilities !
  9. Nice collection of Couriers here ! I'd LOVE to see Round2 release a sweet multi-options 'reissue' of the forelorn AMT Courier ; fleetside and stepside beds ; stock 4 cylinder (with hop-up parts) , V6 and V8 options ; stock tyres / wheels , and custom , period-correct wheels / tyres ; just building options galore !
  10. Super Nice Super Stock ! Cone Chevrolet 's building is still on Commonwealth ; however , its entity changed ownership ~10 years ago . (714) LAmbert-11332 Wasn't '62 the year of the 427-W "Mystery Motor" , or was that '63 (O/SS or T/SS class) ?
  11. I , like many others , am irritated that Revell-Monogram scrapped their plans to produce a 1980-something Cutlass . The building versions are potentially endless ; Lowriders , 4-4-2's , 1/4 milers , stock , street sleeper , etc. Keep up the beautiful work ! Please continue to keep us updated with your progress !
  12. THAT is going to look sweet ! I've been working on this kit as well , more off than on , for years now . It goes-together nicely ; its 440 Six Pack / TorqueFlite combo is probably the nicest assembly of the kit's contents . "True Blue" was the name of a factory colour , although I cannot remember what years or paint code it is (EB5 or EB7).
  13. Perhaps this has come up before ad nauseaum , but here it is again : Does anyone make 1/25 scale intake manifolds ? In particular , I'm looking for a Six Pack / 6 Bbl induction (including carbs and air cleaner) for the AMT 1971 Charger's 440 . An outright "conversion" set would be best ; a set which also includes non-a/c belt & pulley arrangement . Also , how about 25th scale TorqueFlites ? An a/c "delete" accessory setup would be welcomed for the AMT Duster 340 . The 'Street Machine' version has that exact setup ; however , it's not worth buying this kit off of eBay , only to pirate its engine accessories ! Please provide links if you would :-) Thanks !
  14. Not to be a jerk , but why did you add a catalytic converter ?
  15. I'd be willing to bet that the *issues* with the chrome plating are due to : 1.) Environmental Standards ( and , yes , I'm factoring China in here ) 2.) Shipping Durability 3.) Storage Durability I've recently bought the 1962 Catalina SD , "Class Action" Monte Carlo , Buick 225 , and 1960 Starliner kits , and the plating looks very nice in each one of 'em . Not certain if any stripping will be necessary as of yet ...
  16. Looks like a nice kit ! Thanks for your review / W.I.P. Dumb question time : In 1:1 Scale , is Chevy planning a Drag Race ("Body-In-White") model to compete with the Ford Mustang Drag Pack and Challenger S/S ? Even if not , I can see a Dick Harrell 'phantom' being built ...
  17. Here's a 1976 Gremlin X , project of one of the For A Bodies Only forum : http://file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/DON%20HUGHES/My%20Documents/Downloads/100_4984.jpg
  18. Please keep these cleaned-up & restored reissues coming , Round2 (hell , their name says it all , right ?) , and dismiss the grumblings . I bought the Electra 225 ("Retro Reissue") and am very pleased with it . Certainly , it's a promo-type ; however , it's got all the right stuff ! When was the last you saw a RotoMatic (a/k/a "Slim Jim") parked-behind a Buick Nailhead ?? As stated before ; all one has to do is look on the bottom of the box for the kits' contents : No Surprises ! Looks like I may have to grab on of these '62 Fords now ...
  19. Looking forward to watching your W.I.P. ! Is it going to be an "A38" (Police Package) version ?
  20. Neither of the local hobby stores had the Gremlin (nor the Chevy Van for that matter ...) , so I'm going to wait for about a month before I look again (and , no , I won't buy them online and give-in to paying shipping costs ! ) I have two AMT Matador annuals (1975 and 1976) and the 'generic' AMC 304/360 builds up nicely . Those vintage issues have two factory-stock induction setups ( 2Bbl and "Go Pack" 4Bbl) and the Tunnel Ram setup with its two carbs . The accompanying 727 "Torque-Command 8" transmission is a nice touch (and certainly better than the gaffes of the MPC kits wherein the interior bespoke of an automatic , but the drivetrain was a manual ! ) , and the stock , snorkled air cleaners are convincing . I painted the engines in the earlier , close-enough medium metallic blue (similar to Oldsmobile Engine Blue) ; however , my build of this Gremlin will have the engine in the light , turquoise blue of that era (planned Modified Production build's engine will be in blue metallic). I like that this Gremlin issue includes headers (!!) , something which was lacking in the Matador kits (in spite of the Pro Stock building option !!).
  21. I just bought one of these kits today (along with the "Class Action " Monte Carlo) ; and , to say that I'm impressed with its contents , would be a serious understatement ! My plan is to build it as a Kustomised race car (e.g. , the custom grille / headlight assembly , the chromed plain wheels and the custom interior ; but with the M&H Slicks , raised front , etc.) The best part of my purchase of these two kits ? Got 'em both for $17.00 out the door !! "Red Tag" at Hobby "People" .
  22. I have a '77 Volare Annual (ePay "win" from a few years back) in unbuilt condition , so I'm going to watching your build here . That grotesque Landau top was actually used in 1:1 on a "special" model Volare called "California Cruiser" or something as such . It also had 50's chrome-reverse / Baby Moon caps and ---GaSp!--- wide-whitewall tyres (YUCK!). The *only* problems I have with the Volare annuals : - Sub-sized Small Block MoPar (looks more like a 3.9 litre V6 than a 273/318/340/360 !) - Those dumb two-piece plastic tyres !! Judging by the amount of "modifications" done to the back-portion of the roof , I personally would be tempted to make a phantom El Camino / Ranchero / Rampage out of it ... ... it has the -right- body lines for such a conversion
  23. WHEW ! I was concerned that the horrid two-piece AMT tyres were reissued as well (HA!) . Those generic , hollow GoodYear Polyglas tyres (G70-15 , iirc ...) are amongst my favourites , as they can be utilised in multiple applications , albeit incorrect on many as well . Thanks again , Erik !
  24. Thanks much for the pics of the kit's contents , Erik ! It's reassuring to see the stock steel wheels / hubcaps combo ; but I'm wondering about its tyres ... Kudos to Round2 for re-re-re-re-releasing this kit and for restoring the red and ambre lights !
  25. Thanks for your review ! I had the red version (c.early 80's) and had a helluva time building it back then ! It's nice to see the good wheels instead of those grotesque 80's "Champ 500" wheels in the red version . What I liked about this kit was its inclusion of casting dates and part numbers on the block (!!) ; and now it's cool that a clear valve cover was added so that the rocker assembly can be seen (great job , Round2 !) I'd really like to see this backdated to a stock '71-'74 Charger , but I doubt that'll ever happen ... I'm going to buy one of these and just have fun with it . I can see it in pearl light green or pearl white , either colour with those gold stripes !
