1/25 Scale Resin 1970 Swinger
1972coronet replied to 1972coronet's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Does anyone include an interior kit along with the body ? The interiors from the Revell '68-'69 Darts are totally incorrect (excepting the console / shifter) for the 1970-1972 Darts . Also , the resin 1970 Darts I've seen were sans windwings ! That's too much intricate work to hand-make for an arthritic fool like me !! -

I ne'er even noticed that ! Ha ! Apparently , that's the case . Stands to reason , as "Death Proof" was based upon the story of a madman stunt driver ( McQueen performed *many* of his own stunts ; but it was Hickman whom truly was a Stuntman !) -
Grotheer had some of the best looking cars out there ; easily in my personal Top 5 . Caine440 is right ; by 1972 , Chrysler was all but entirely factored-out of many racing classes / sanctions ; and truly , any non-Wedge engine was factored-out (Ford's Boss 429 and Chrysler's 426 Hemi were chief among them) with "Canted Valve" engines not far behind (335-Series / 385-Series / "Shotgun" Fords , iirc. , and Mark IV Chevy ). At least in Pro Stock that was the case . By early-mid year '72 , Demon-Duster-Dart Sport models rapidly replaced Barracuda / Challenger models in short order .

"JJZ 109" = Steve McQueen's Mustang " RDR 838 " = Bill Hickman's Charger Both in "Bullitt" (1968). It should be noted here that the Mustang's plate is *incorrect* for a 1968-model vehicle , as "J" was a 1964-issue letter . The Charger's plate is correct for 1968 ( "R" = 1968 ) . -
Mike , I keep going over the idea of the colour choice ; I've never even seen Tamiya Metallic Brown until now ! Well , maybe I have seen it , but just didn't pay it any attention ... Can't wait to see that colour : 1.) In the light , and ; 2.) with the car completed (i.e. , with all its chrome and whatnot ). ** Addendum ** I should add that I applaud your decision to paint this Cad in an untraditional colour !

I like the '67 GTX touches ! Looks like a precursor to the '70-'71 "S23" Fury -
Need Info On '60 Dodge Phoenix
1972coronet replied to W-409's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'd recommend that W409 use the transmission from the AMT 1957 (?) Chrysler 300 , as it's the correct , pre-1962 A-488 Torqueflite , complete with its Parking Drum / Ball & Trunion assembly . Naturally , this only applies if an automatic trans is desired . If you plan to use the transmission from the Chrysler 300 , remember to paint it Cast Iron (with a Steel-coloured pan) , as all pre-1962 V8 Torqueflites were cast iron ; the aluminum V8 T-Flites didn't appear until '62 ( A-904's were aluminum since their inception in 1960 , but those were all Slant Six transmissions ; they were originally called "TorqueFlite-Six"). -

Every-thing looks beautiful , Mike ! I'm most impressed with the way the tyres / wheels look . Those Redlines are nice !!

149 PCE (hint : blue/gold California plate). 1PCE149 (hint : blue/gold 7-digit Ca. plate ; and yes it's similar to the first one I posted ...) -
Ok I need some info on this.

Exactly . Doubt it if anyone's dedicated it to resin ... ...yet -
It pays to be honest, thanks Revell
1972coronet replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very cool . I did something similar a number of months ago . I bought a '69 Dart GTS (1995 Revell issue) off of eBay ; its glass was bad (tyres burns and random scratches) . Knowing that obviously the glass from the sub seq. '68 Darts is exactly the same , I knew that they'd work for the '69. In my email ("contact form") to Revell , I'd told 'em exactly what had happened . I simply requested a new set of glass for the '68 Dart , and asked them how much it'd be to have the replacement mailed to me . Obviously , I wasn't trying to replace defective-as-received-new parts . No reply / response . One week later , I receive a package in the mail ... ... the replacement glass ! They just sent it to me at no charge ! That's some excellent P.R. on their part . I emailed them with a heartfelt thanks . -

Tamiya's instruction sheets are frustrating to me , for the simple reason of their colour chart ! I can appreciate the universal aspect to their instructions , and I actually like the clear illustrations in said instructions ; however , their colour chart frustrates me just the same . AMT's instructions from the 70's used to be my biggest peeve when I was a young'in ! No freakin' part numbers to be found ! I still shudder when I look at them these days (i.e. , the repro sheets in the Round2 retro kits . I like them now , but I still get "flashbacks" to my childhood when I see 'em . The number 1 irritating , drive you to the institution "assembly guide" goes to ... Pyro . Their one-page "instructions" consist of nothing more than an exploded view of the kit !! No wonder why one rarely sees one of these in a completed state !! I got a 32nd scale 1914 Renault from a dying friend . He bought it back in the 60's ; opened it up and saw those instructions , and put the kit back in its box , ne'er to be viewed again until 2005 when I got it   .

WOW !!!! That came out NICE !! Dead ringer . Absolutely . Krylon's "actual" chrome looks very convincing , especially on valve covers and air cleaners . Highly recommend it . Works over gloss black (or naturally-moulded black) or even enamel steel or aluminum .
-
By the way , does anyone have pics of this beautiful kit's contents (aside from its nice looking tyres) ??
-
Thank you Mark and theJudge70man ! Now I know what I'm going to buy in order to have the coveted Dual-Gate for my '68 Hemi Dart ! Oh , and as an added bonus , a nice Olds to add to my collection (sans its original shifter ) .
-
WoWie~z0wie !! LOVE those '57 'vette wheel covers !!

Does this kit include the Dual-Gate Shifter (and obviously the corrosponding TH 400 ) and-or the M21/M22 4 speed ?

# Brake Master Cylinders , etc. , etc.

Cool deal , RamFins59 ! That's what I was looking for -
Many of those cars --those which survived the ravages of time and the elements-- became too valuable to collectors in the 80's . Then , those more "common" cars ( 340 Darts / Dusters ; 383 Super Bee / Road Runner ; 350 Nova ; 396 Chevelle ; etc. , etc. ) were then preyed-upon and turned into *shudder* Pro Street *shudder* and other grotesque customs . Now even -those- cars are too valuable these days ! Thank God the billet craze is over for the most part . Those ugly Boyd's wheels belong only in the recycling bin along with "blade" wheels (think : Monogram's 1970 Buick GSX custom) . The 80's was a horrible time in the custom realm . Monochrome, blacked-out brightwork , ugly wheels and gross paintjobs belong in the history books and not in the 1:1 realm ! Now , 70's Street Freaks were *typically* retired Gassers (more so out here in the west) , retired Super Stock , F/X , etc. , or other dirt cheap 5-15 year old vehicles (remember that the 21st Octobre 1973 OPEC stunt scared the hell out of people ; and rising gas prices combined with ever-falling octane ratings --vis-a-vis removal of tetraethyl lead-- , only furthered the desire for people to offload their fuel-thirsty Muscle Cars). These cars were modified as no one would ever imagine that they'd become collectable . I grew up in the 70's and 80's ( I was born in 1970 ) , and was living a stone's throw away from the Whittier Boulevard scene , so I vividly remember seeing these Freaks on a daily basis .

1972coronet replied to 1972coronet's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks for your reply and link , AaronW . Ken's got some cool builds ; but , I didn't see anything as far as what I'm inquiring about (perhaps I overlooked something ?) I really think that the fledgling resin casters need to produce brake master cylinders , brake boosters and engine accessories . I don't like to raid kits for these parts (especially when the kit's already got the "wrong" parts in it . To wit : the Revell 1968 GSS / 440 GTS / Hurst Hemi : none of those had power brakes , especially power drum brakes !). I'm building the Class Action 1980 Monte Carlo as a curbside for two reasons : 1.) An unconvincing engine ( a luxury coupe with manual steering and no a/c ?!?) , and ; 2.) I can use its booster / master cylinder in my 1976 Gremlin (why did AMT overlook this when these kits were new ?!?). Anyone else have a source / some sources for the parts I'm seeking ?
