Not to say that it's not possible , but I've never seen nor heard of Dodge continuing their "Floral Pattern" for 1970 . Who knows ? Anything's possible ! First time I can remember seeing a Mod Top was in ca.1972 or so (when I was 2 years old) . The car was a 1970 Barracuda . I'd see it frequently at the local mall , in the parking lot by Hinshaw's . I'd asked my mother , "Why did someone put wallpaper on their car ?". I'd not seen the Dodge "Floral Top" until sometime in the 90's ... ... at a self-serve salvage yard , on a '69 Dart . I saw remnents of it wedged in the driptrough moulding and thought , "What the heck is this ?!?". I've long preferred the Dodge pattern , as it looks more like a Peter Max illustration .

Best way to airbrush tamiya acrylics?
1972coronet replied to Austin T's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Has any-one used Tamiya paint in a Prevail system ; and if so , is the thinner-to-paint ratio the same as described above by Jaydar ? -
RealGone58 : Now that is a '75 / '76 Dart Sport !!! Absolutely spot-on look ; very well-crafted !! Although these years look very similar to the 1976-1980 Aspen / Volare , these are actually a completely different car line ; these are "A"-bodies (1960-1976 , Valiant , Dart , et al.) , whereas the Aspen /Volare are "F"-bodies . To add insult to injury : the 1976 Duster and Dart Sport were available with a 220 hp 5.9 litre (360 c.i.d.) , whereas the 1976-1977 Aspen/Volare had a 175 hp 5.9 litre (same 360 c.i.d.) with a two barrel carb . Also , the Dart , et al. , was sans catalytic converters (!!) .

Revell '62 Corvette Roadster 2'n1
1972coronet replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I , too , am very disappointed with the absence of "up-top" options for the convertibles , that Revell-Monogram makes . I can't think of a single good excuse for this oversight ! Aside from that not-exclusive-to-this-kit observation , I am impressed with what I'm seeing here ! For years I couldn't stand the '58-'62 Corvettes ( it was the quad headlights more than anything ) , but after seeing some vintage photos of modified 'vettes in 1/4 mile regalia , I changed my feelings regarding the '58-'62 ! A vintage MSC ( Modified Sports Car ; a variation of Modified Production ) or Gasser would be a great basis for this kit -

YES ! Not only the Plymouth pattern , but also the Dodge "Floral Pattern" pattern as well ! I also believe that the plaid "cloth" upholstery and houndstooth upholstery seat insets would be good sellers as well -
Best way to airbrush tamiya acrylics?

I would imagine that multiple coats would work best versus heavy coats . I've never airbrushed with Tamiya paint , so my answer may not be *correct* . Good luck -
Ford Van Grille with Square Headlights?
1972coronet replied to hooknladderno1's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You're looking for a factory-stock grille for the circa 1979 through 1985 Econoline ; or is it the custom grille from , say , the "Phantom" that you're looking for ? -
Steve ! Long time ! Super nice Super Blue '72 Demon ! Whose paint did you use for this ; custom mix ? **Did you ever got the messages I sent to you ? Check your inbox and hit me back **

Another delightful build , Mopar_guy1 ! Lime-Lite / Sub-Lime is a really neat-o colour ; and it looks its best with the right combo of accent colours (a combo of white interior with hood blackout is the best ) . Good call on that Twister hood treatment ! Keep those beautiful builds coming , my brother
-
Spectacular W-30 ! That lime colour look just right on that drop top ; your workmanship is the tops ! Keep up the great work !

Super nice R/T ! I wasn't aware that EK2 Go Mango / Vitamin C wasn't available for 1971 (?!) I know that EV2 Hemi Orange / Tor-Red was available from 1969-1972 , but I never noticed that Go mango was dropped after 1970 . Oh , well , it's of little consequence , especially when it comes to your excellent Charger !

Competition Resins' 1972 Demon :-O
1972coronet replied to 1972coronet's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have seen that sweet looking Bandit Resins 1971 Demon transkit , and have been tempted to buy it ; however , without that exclusive 1972 grille , it's pointless (relatively speaking) . I must admit that the thought of building a '71 with a 340 Six Pack and GY3 Citron Yella paint is quite enticing ! Thanks again for your replies -

Thanks , Burnout and caine440 ! I was concerned that they were out-of-business , as their website stated a "2011 Catalog" , which lead me to believe that they closed shop . Thanks for the reassurance , guys . I'll have to give Comp Res' '72 Demon kit a try ! In the meantime , I hope that Missing Link will re-release their '72 Demon ; I sent them a message regarding this . -
I wanted the 1972 Demon which Missing Link Resins produced a couple of years ago , but I missed the boat ( ) . So , in the meantime , I performed a search for a "1/25 scale resin-cast 1972 demon" , where I found a *link* to Competition Resins and their 1972 Demon Pro Stock / Super Stock / MP transkit . http://www.compresins.com/site/751597/product/CR-5019 Now I'm wondering if Competition is still in business ; and what their business practise is like ; and how their products are . Any feedback is welcomed .

Black on Black Pro Street 71 Hemicuda DONE!
1972coronet replied to dimebolt's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Your work never ceases to awe me ! Just some excellent craftsmanship ; that paint job looks GREAT ! This 'cuda has Search and Destroy written all-over it (can't you just picture James "Skull" Williamson driving this bad boy to a gig !) *where did you get those seats ? did you make that pattern ? -
Perhaps the difference is : 1.) Mid-Year Change ; 2.) Different Assembly Plant , and ; 3.) Different (local) Supplier , or ; 4.) One of them is Customised Keep up with the great work !
-
Thanks for sharing your beautiful builds here , guys ! That Fairlane is some-thing else !! Talk about unique !! That thing is gorgeous with that A/FX Teardrop hood ; and , look at those curb feelers ! I haven't seen those in over 20 years !! Keep 'em coming , my fellow plastic fanatics !

The compareitively rare late-1985 IROC with the 350 had T.P.I. , whereas the majority of Camaros / Firebirds had the (yucky) 305 with either a Q-Jet (electronic , smog-laden nightmare of a carburetor !) or the "not-quite-there" T.B.I. Lots of absurdities within G.M. during the reign of "I could care less" Roger Smith . I forget which years exactly , but some of these had ambre-coloured turn signal / hazard tail-lamps ; and I believe that this kit originally had its tail-light lenses moulded in clear , a much easier provision versus silver backup lamps and solid-orange turn signal lamps (a pet peeve of mine : Solid-cast , all-red tail lamp lenses and/or chrome backup lamp lenses / headlights / or any lights which are clear in 1:1 , but are chrome in scale , are irritating !)

1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
1972coronet replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The only problem with using the engine you've mentioned , at least right-out-of-the-box , is that a/c compressor ! The "Street Machine" version has the non-a/c pulleys and belt , but not the regular kit (you hear this , Round2 ? Next release of this kit should include both setups ; the "standard" one with a/c , and the "custom" one with just the H2O pump / crank / alternator arrangement). johnbuzzed is right ; let's see this kit with transmission options as well as differential options , please . -
You're right I failed my *own* test here , too . Well , I was , afterall , more intrigued by the beautiful pics of your gorgeous engine , that I totally glossed-over the accompyning text

1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
1972coronet replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
the test shot hood does look "over-done" with exaggerated proportions , but it *is* simply a prototype . Who knows ; maybe it's done like that on purpose ? Perhaps Revell took paint-thickness into consideration ? Given the current direction that Revell has taken with its new(est) products , I'm going to give them the benefit-of-the-doubt regarding the massaging of the hood's proportions . -
I couldn't --at the time-- find a section that my inquiry would seem proper in , so I just chose "General" . I'll keep your suggestion in mind for next time . That is gorgeous ! Not sure how I missed it the first time through that section ; perhaps all of those acronymns in the thread's title bothered me or something .
-
Until I saw the engine that Len and Bill were building , I thought that Revell had messed up by putting an alternator in place of the generator (e.g. , I thought that being presented as being a factory-stock piece by Revell) .

I think that the most difficult part of adding a vinyl roof to a hardtop would be making of the trim for the "C" pillar and Sailpanel . The top's material is naturally going to be flat , just as in the 1:1 world ! Has there ever been a case where a kit manufacturer included separate trim for a vinyl top option ? I think that that would be a viable idea , just like the separate side trim "spears" on the Revell 1958 Impala . As far as the seams on the roof , I believe that simply overlapping the decal sections would be convincing enough , no ? That's how it's done in the 1:1 realm
