Your under hood and engine detail looks fantastic. Nice paint too. You did good on a "not so good" kit to start out with. I was going to just build a primed gasser with the one that I have in my stash. -
Does CA glue go bad??
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I opened the new bottle of thin ZAP and tried it. This bottle is a few years old as well, just sitting on the shelf. I'm sure the shelf life contributed to the glue breaking down, as it acted just as the medium when used. These bottles are only 0.5 oz. I don't think I can buy them any smaller than this. off for some new CA. Thank you for all of the replies everyone. Much appreciated. -

I always do the same, with a lid, or piece of shiny cardboard. I NEVER work from the bottle directly. Always close it up immediately. -
Does CA glue go bad??

After removing the cap, and sticking a pin into the applicator, I will get liquid CA glue from the bottle. After its applied to the work, it will not bond. Even after applying kicker, it seems to bond slightly, but, as soon as its touched, the part will fall off. -
Does CA glue go bad??

Thank you for the replies. I have a Zap Thin that's unopened. I've had it for two years so I'll give it a try before tossing it. The medium is as just as old. I guess I'll have to find some smaller bottles, and keep them in the freezer also. -
Today I was trying to glue a MAD distributor cap on the base. It usually grabs permanently with just a tiny dab. I was using Zap medium, just as I have always. Even after applying Zipkicker it still wouldn't hold. Does CA glue expire, or go bad?

It doesn't get any more realistic than that!!! Awesome build!! -
Beautiful build of one of my old favorites. I like the color. This reminds me that I should pick up one of these to build again. This kit has the BEST looking Crager mags, IMHO. Do you have any engine pictures to share?

Questions concerning Ronnie Sox 1963 Impala.

Thanks guys. On the decals, I really like that the Cady decals have the aluminum fender top warning. I've seen these on just about every lightweight Z11 car. Maybe I'll use them and add them to the fenders. As for the tires, I don't a pie crust in my whole bin that fits these rims. I was going to try to remove the M&H logos from them. I've tried every pie crust tire I have already. -

Just looking for some info on this car. I've searched everywhere but not much turns up. I'm currently building a Revell 63 to resemble this car. From what I've seen in my searches, this car had a light blue colored interior? Please correct me if I am wrong. I have a Z11 interior tub from MCW. If this isn't correct I also have the bucket seat set from them as well, in case I need them, if the car did not have s bench seat. I also have two sets of decals. Sox & Sinclair from Slixx, and another Fred Cady set Dick Milner, and Green Chevrolet. Can anyone with knowledge of the old Super Stockers please set me in the right direction on the interior type and the proper decal for the build to be as correct as possible?? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the positive replies everyone. Finished it up this morning. One thing I wish I did differently was, stripping the ends of the braided line, as per Pro Techs instructions. The lines could have been a lot neater, but this is my first time plumbing an engine with them. There is always next time. Now Id like to get some decent background to TRY to take some decent pic, so I can post the car in the Drag Racing section.

Did a little work on the Chevelle today. Getting closer to complete. Still have to do the PE emblems, door handles, etc. And a little bit of under hood detail, like the coil, and a home made fuel pressure regulator. Then the wing last.

Old Revell "H" part # kits

Very informative replies. Thank you. I didn't realize that the tooling had all these engine molds. I never had any of these kits, but I did see one of the chrome trees, and it did look poor as Robert stated. If I do get the 55 kit, I'm pretty much just interested in the body with all of the open doors, hood, and trunk. Most of the build would be a kit bash build. The headlights bezels are a concern. It's got to look like a correct car. -
Old Revell "H" part # kits

I wasn't really concerned with flash or pin marks. Just hoping it doesn't turn into a poorly fitting or lopsided build, as I have never had any experience with these kits. -

Wow thanks everyone for the informative replies. I was just looking to build the 55 Chevy as a pro streeter, figuring it might be easier to have a build with the doors already opened. Not sure if want to tackle a non door open kit. Pretty much wondering if it would be easier to build one of these, instead of opening the doors on a newer kit. -
Looking at the old 55 Chevy Revell kits, with the opening doors and trunks. Is the tooling decent on these kits? Would they build into a nice drag car? Or should I avoid them? thanks

Got the foiling on, and the glass in. Not going to use that resin hood. after all the sanding to make it fit, I realized I sanded it short. Now the front wont hang on the grill correctly.
