That's cool it comes with a pan. I think maybe I would shave all the handles, mold in the pan, paint it, and call it a day. But if you are just going for OOB, just shoot some Viper blue and move on to other points. Worse come to worse, if it isn't a customer build, just put in the box for a while and pull it out later when you are feeling inspired. We all do it sometimes. Heck, I have a NASCAR Monte Carlo that I pulled out of the box, molded in the front bumper, and haven't touched for six months now. Since then, I have put together about 10 kits and I am starting to feel the bug for that one again. -

I was wandering if you were going to leave that roof double humped. Incidentally, did you glue in styrene before adding that body filler? I was just wandering because I know how that stuff likes to crack when it's thick. -
I have a 7 year old daughter and I help her put together snap kits. She loves Camaros but, daddy didn't like having to spray a 1969 muscle car pink. (The things we do for our kids) Its great to see the tradition being passed on.

It all depends for me. For example, if it is a wheel or something where the edges are exposed I will flip it and paint the other side...just because I don't want any primer or bare styrene showing. If it is something that there is no way it will ever be seen unless the model is broken, I usually don't bother aside from maybe, again, the edge that may be seen peeking out.

OK, it's official, I saw the 59 Elk and now this. I officially hate you. Joking! I love your builds. It's like excellent work is effortless for you. If there was a thumbs up smiley here, I'd give ya a bunch of them.

You can actually see the blue you are talking about on the front of the hood in the head on picture. Wait, this is your second kit? And it's hammered down, has graphics, and BMF?! Gee, I quit! You have done a heck of a job. Have you formerly done anything similar to model cars to get this kind of skill?

I'd love to see this at a red light but, I'd hate to have to run it. Very original and it's one of those rare Fords that I do like.

Ah so what, you didn't foil the lettering...worse come to worse, use a fine tip and silver with a magnifying glass. What you did foil looks good. I think you have a very nice car there. I actually prefer this simpler 64 Impala kit because it doesn't have the stooooopid looking taillights like Revell's.

I never really cared for a 58 until just now. I will definitely be picking up one of these the next time I am at Michael's. Thanks for making me a believer, Phil!

Another one trying to pass a real car as a model... JK It really does look realistic though. I'd drive it if it were real!

This is going to be one crazy dually. I know how much those kits are and I can already see this ain't a cheap project. Best of luck and I for one will stay tuned. -

U plan on doing a roll pan or anything custom to the body? -
Yeah, I'd do a case with a mirrored bottom because this is amazing detail. I can't wait to see this under glass.

Models in Walmart.....
Skydime replied to coolplastic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ask anyone in the know about the "yellow plug" many Walmarts use an impact when possible to remove or install the oil plug. When they strip it, they use a yellow insert. If your oil change is done somewhere else the next time, you are in for a surprise. Either the oil plug or the oil pan will need replaced before the oil can be refilled and you can be on your way. And yes, I've seen this thing myself -
Nobody is talking about the news ?

As long as Round 2 does not do to these brands what was done in the wrestling industry when Vince McMahon purchased every major company, our hobby will be just fine. Let's just hope they don't weed through and pick and choose certain things and get rid of others that may or may not be more popular. Also, I hope the branding stays as they have it. Keeping the iconic company names on the boxes helps people who are new or returning to the hobby by offering familiar brands to welcome them. -
Models in Walmart.....

I haven't seen model kits in Walmart in several years anywhere in my area. And even though it may be a limited selection for a limited time, and I hate Walmart, I applaud bringing them back. For all those saying they prefer their local hobby shop, more power to you. But it is an hour and a half to my closest hobby shop and the only other place around here that sells any model kits has had an unchanging limited stock for quite some time. So, yeah, there are a few kits I saw in this post I don't have yet and may pick up if my Walmart gets them. BTW, all those talking about "the big box stores", you have to consider that Hobby Lobby is a major company now and you can't even get most of these cars that cheap there without a coupon. So, "it ain't just Walmart." -
Oh yeah! Definitely put it in the box for a while. I would hate to see this meet an end after taking a look at the link posted by Jesse.

Not the first...but maybe the first yellow and model form http://images.search...umb=7LKSuLz4rUk

Looks like some of the slver/red rocker panel striping was part of what was missing from the kit. Either way, you did a great job with what you had. I've always thought the Goodwrench Aerocoupe was one of the best looking cars he ever drove.

Chuck, I've got to say you have done an excellent job on this one. I especially like the oiled down straight 6. I do have to say the Cragar wheel does look kinda goofy sticking out like that. But that isn't an insult because I know that mismatched was what you were going for with it. BTW, since everyone is asking, is that the under hood bracing fade showing on the hood?

Wow! Dave, this sure is honesty and integrity in business! One thing though. I would ask that the UPC to the box also be sent out just in case there are some dishonest people. Sadly, I know that there are people out there who would take advantage of this kind of customer commitment. Unfortunately, these people drive prices up for others...in all business, not just models.

Erik, I like the idea of taking the box art, copying it in black and white and coloring it in to get an idea of what the car might look like before finishing it. If you don't mind, I might borrow this idea sometime. BTW, the car looks really good in green.
