Great save!

Woah! I think I remember the build up of this. This is cool as can be.

The Challenger hood looks great on this. Looks like it just needs trimmed on the sides for the new width and maybe integrate around the cowl of the magnum hood.
-
Even though it doesn't quite look right proportionally, I like the long deck on the back. It gives new meaning to "mob car" with that trunk size. How did you get the lines on the airbag and vent so clean?

I think it is painted on...just because of the writing in the picture. If you look at it, there is a very handwritten quality to it. If this was a sticker, someone usually would have taken the time to go in with a computer and use a specific font for the lettering. However, it could be an air brushed badge with stickered stripes. In the third picture, on the left of the scoop, it appears that there is a cut or scratch. I personally hate snakes and anything to do with them creeps me out. But other than that handwritten badge, I think this is a sharp car. Although I think it would be crazy if this is an original Cobra.

It's just awesome inside and out! ...can't wait for the next build too.

Oh yeah, CARB again. -

I also think it was mentioned earlier that this car is sold with a new VIN which would make it capable of being registered. Internationally, I have no clue what the specs, laws and regulations are. I was just pointing out that if I can cut my frame in half and redo a vehicle legally, in the US, then there should be no reason that a vehicle being sold in an unassembled condition could not be registered. Kits are fairly common so, these Mustangs should be as easy as any other kit car to get on the road. -
Hmm, black, dash with red faced gauges, the title is Grimm, it's Halloween weekend....I'm staying tuned for this.

Ooh, I hope it's what I think.

It would only have to meet specifications in certain states or areas of states. I have an S10 with air ride suspension. It did not have to be inspected after it was air bagged. However, it does have an altered frame so, it can only change hands between private owners and not dealers. Then again, when dealers get their hands on these types of vehicles, they privately register them and sell them to get around it. As far as California goes, they have crazy restrictions there. And I don't even wanna talk about CARB. On a side note, I think this discussion has brought out an idea...at least to me it has. Since we have so many car and truck related shows on Speed and Spike, and now Top Gear USA (which is rubbish compared to Jeremy and the boys), one of them should step up to the plate and do an episdode on legal registration of vehicles in these scenarios. Maybe not state specific but, general rules. -

I think a sweet looking ride is just that...a sweet looking ride. And if there is a story about how someone's grandpa bought it new in 19xx and it's been in the family ever since , or whatever, just makes it that much sweeter. As far as replacing a crushed cab on an otherwise perfect vehicle, I think most states have proper guidelines to see that this is done legally and legitimately. As I said, no matter what there is in life, there is always going to be some jerk screw it up for everyone. Then again, if they didn't, we wouldn't have had the original Gone in 60 Seconds for our viewing pleasure. -

No, No, No. Harry, Those are all pictures of Virgil's unfinished kits that were stolen and put on another website. They knew how real his 55's look so, they just went for it. JK...but his do look realistic. -

I guess this is all a matter of how you look at things. If you are looking for a collector item and you have the money, by all means, completely rebuild an original or purchase on that has been completely restored. But if you are looking for a project and don't have $100K to sink into it, this is a good way to go. My train of thought when posting this was just how many ways one could go without worrying about destroying an original car. You can build it just like an original, you can add just a few subtle touches to it, or, you could go the route I was thinking and build a pure pro touring car (IE drag car, full custom). As a matter of fact, there was a build of a kit on here that I though of when posting this. I just can't remember the person building Rob Zombie's "Black Sunshine" to give them credit. -

Legally, yes. There may be a legal way around it if most of the car is the original but, I'm sure it varies state to state. But the point is, the cabin is the actual car itself. Everything major attaches to it or something attached to it. -
Great Caprice! I like the white walls, slammed stance, and lake pipes. As for the signal light suggestion, try Sharpies too. They always do well for me. Or you can also tint future with food coloring.

Brand New 65 Mustangs

Craig, the biggest concern with this is that there are people will try to pass off a car made in modern times as the original model, which is worth far more. As I said, there are going to be people that try to ruin anything by abuse of priveledges created. But, I do see exactly what you mean by your point. But then again, that is highly illegal. -

Chuck, I agree that there are other cars done like this out there and that this is pretty normal. Even though I am, by far, NOT a Mustang fan, I do think that it is cool that there is now a high quality full body available for someone to build a 65 convertible. As far as trying to past it for the real thing, I do agree that people probably will try. But there are going to people that make something negative out of everything in this life. -
Best opening scene from a movie ever!
Skydime replied to Pete J.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was reminded last night of the opening to the original Halloween where the camera went all the way through the house and followed the childhood Michael Myers. Non-car related, that was a pretty cool scene. BTW, has anyone here seen the deleted scene in Halloween Resurrection where Michael gets out of an old Camaro and sets his alarm? Considering he chased a kid around in another movie in a 68 Camaro (I think it was 68) kinda makes me wander. -

Exactly, and look how much you would have to pay for lesser quality cars elsewhere. No evilbay hacked up bondo jobs here. -
http://autos.yahoo.c...65-mustang.html Well, looks like people can buy a brand new Black Sunshine now. I guess this is good because I have seen people charge $10,000 for cars that you could throw a cat through...with useless suspensions and destroyed interiors to boot.

I thought that was just me. (Don't worry, it happens to us all at one point or another.) Anyway, Ryan your builds are looking good. I think you have the correct skills to do nicely with this hobby. However, as a constructive criticism, you may want to think about getting some bare metal foil, a polishing kit, and some ink for blackwashing. Adding even one of these to what you already do will make your builds look even better than what they do now.

Let's see your Chevy S10!
Skydime replied to Jordan White's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I probably saw it too somewhere and don't remember. I remember seeing so many slightly modified S10s with everything colormatched, in the 90's, I couldn't keep the GM builds straight from the consumer builds. -
Yeah, it has not for me either. I just know that most of the time this question is answered with those two solutions. Erik, taking part of the quote out is fine. It just clarifies that you are not disputing the future part. As far as the build, can't wait to see more Mike.
