Let's see your Chevy S10!
Skydime replied to Jordan White's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yeah, I didn't know they even did a dually until I saw that. I was kind of diggin' on the 4 door dually because of the regular length bed. I always thought to myself, "Now why in the world would they release a 4wd only crew cab and put such a stubby, useless bed on it?" It's obvious that, if they didn't make a 2wd, it was for work purposes. So, why would they build a truck for four-five workers and leave no room for tools and materials? Anyway, I'm thinking of building a model of either the crew cab or regular cab dually now. I think I can do it as long as I don't have to scratch tiny parts. -

Nice build. I just wish that AMT would have released the real Xtreme in 98 up trim instead of the Xtreme prototype, called The Hugger. BTW, I also wander why the box never mentioned it was a prototype. Here is what I am talking about. http://www.texassser...otype-Trucks... -

Did you scratch build the grille? I don't recall that one being available. -

I honestly think I could back my S10 bed under his without scratching either. I remember seeing trucks with Snugtops all the time and I really do miss them. -
I like to shoot silver under a lot of colors on dark molded bodies. But I think most people are going to say Duplicolor primer or Future.

Thanks, Harry, for the illustration. Say that does look more sleddish! But I still think it looks slick either way.

It's a sign, Chuck...and it reads "Finish that thing so we can see it under glass." -
My Mecum Auto Auction Muscle Cars & More - Mini Photo Shoot
Skydime replied to TheCat's topic in Model Cars
That's a pretty nifty little setup there. -
Good looking Stude. I think it came out great. If I may suggest, it might even look like a cooler sled if you add some skirts in the back as well.

Lookin' good in those colors

That looks 1000% better. Great Chevelle.

Scale auto renaissance?
Skydime replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I cannot stress enough how much I agree with Chuck "Sorry- EVERYBODY I know wants more light truck kits. That's 100% of whatever demographic I'm in. And judging from what I've read here and other forums, it isn't just a 'Central Michigan' thing." As long as parts are available, I will own a mini truck. Granted, that I am now 35, married, and have a daughter, and drive an 08 Malibu. But I will always have custom trucks in my blood. My point is this. I love that the companies are releasing and re-releasing kits that most members of this site have been around long enough to have owned or remember coming out in 1:1. It is extremely important to remember our automotive history and honor it with the newly tooled and reissued kits that are coming out left and right. However, we also need to remember that the 1:1 market has evolved since many of these cars and kits came out. At my age, I have the ability to appreciate both the old and the new, within reason. Along with remembering our heritage, we need to try to embrace the future to insure that all of this continues for the next few generations. Custom trucks, modern muscle cars, and tuners are the future of custom automotives and we need to accept their presence so that our children and grand children can carry on the traditions that have made 1:1 and scale automotives what they are today. If they see modern cars and trucks customized (something with which they are familiar), that gives them a gateway to discuss our experiences and memories with them. And maybe they will appreciate the fine craftsmanship of yester-year and the modern technology at the same time. Since many of us aren't exactly rich enough to afford all the 1:1s we would love to have, we can share this all in scale. Look at the pro touring movement. It gives opportunities to share classics with them and give them an opportunity to bash modern kits for the suspensions, wheels, and drivetrains. On a much ligher note, I am so glad to see so many new tools and high quality kits coming out right now. -
Stacey David's Rat Roaster by : REVELL
Skydime replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I think that's kinda the idea. It is NOT a rat. It just Roasts rat rods. -
I've been following this Dragula build quietly until now. This is a great build. It looks more like Rob Zombie's Dragula than The Munster Dragula.

We can all picture it...if we can't, we'll pretend so you can move forward. I like those NSXs. Looking forward to watching this one.

New Releases from Revell
Skydime replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's a lot of great kits. I really like the fact that the C10 is a full bodied pickup truck instead of a wrecker this go round. My wife is going to hate going to Hobby Lobby for a while. -
Looks Great...But do we even want to know what would be hauled on top of that one?
-
This thing is great! Where did you source the wheels on the 2nd gen build?
-
I love the sticker idea but, I just looked up the whole "hellaflush" thing. I really don't understand. Us bagged truck guys (yeah, I know...grammar) try to get as much backspace as possible to clear the fenders and these guys are shoving the rims to them. It's kinda cool looking though and I may get used to it. I just hope they are not static dropped because I don't see a way to turn a lot of them. Riding on the extreme negative camber would wear out tires in no time. Also, a bump would shred a tire and fender/quarter panel.

Well, I'll be back. I have to go chase down my jaw and see if it broke when it hit the floor. That thing is just incredible!

Why does that stage remind me of Arnold's, from Happy Days?
-
Wow! Virgil, for a rust man, you sure have outdone yourself with the paint on this one. It looks excellent. I noticed the little issue with the bullet hole in the head. Maybe a little bullet lodged in his skull that didn't make it to his brain. You can dodge a bullet sometimes but, not the Devil's Cadillac.

The progress on this may be slow. But there are times when slow and steady wins the race. That does seem to be the case here as you are still making nicely detailed progress.

39 Chevy Wagon Rod.........................
Skydime replied to Space Cowboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I loved building that kit when I was younger. Sadly, I had left it at my parents house when I moved out and my mom accidentally broke it while cleaning. I'm definitely following this one.
