  1. Hi Guys In a moment of madness (ok, a couple of Buds also helped) I bought myself a 1;1 '86 Chevy Caprice 4 door Its Jake n Elwood style so aint the best looking car I've had but it gets more looks (but in a different way )than my bright orange 57 Chevy I always try to make a kit of all the US cars I've owned. I'm sure I've seen an 80's Caprice / Impala kit somewhere, maybe resin ? Anybody help me out with some info ? Are they still available ? Be good to go with my '95 Camaro, '87 & '91 Mustang and 57 Chevy 1;1 - 1;25 models.
  2. When I got my 1;1 57 Chevy 6 years ago, I had to cut down what I bought & sold some of the kits I'd probably never build. 90% of my 57 diecast collection is being sold or has been. I must have 120 kits that are planned builds, mostly 57's & muscle cars. I try to limit myself to what I buy now, but couldnt resist 2 more Revell sedans & 69 Nova yesterday ! About anothe 100 that are a keeper collection (nearly all of the 57 Chevy kits that I know have been issued) I first got into 57 Chevys throgh kits, hence my user name. Hoarder ? Nah, but I'm working on it
  3. I'm doing my first American car, a 57 Chevy 210 2 door sedan. Waited a long time for a good sedan kit, rather than the MPC flip front. As I've just finished a 6 year rebuild of the 1;1 scale, nows the time to get started on the kit. Planning before & after versions. Before After
  4. Fantastic build, looks great. I wonder how many of us had similar experiances as kids, looking at box arts & dreaming ! Maybe Revell will give ya a call for the new box art . . .
  5. Thanks Ken I guessed there was more to the Mongoose kit, but thought I'd ask. Have to build the cop out & 57 more or less out the box then (well, maybe till Santa comes )
  6. How similar is the new Mongoose Duster funny car to the old Cop Out Duster funny car ? Not so much the body, but the chassis & running gear ect ? It 'looks' very similar, but I dont have the new Mongoose kit, only the Cop Out. If, its very similar & (I assume) a lot better, would it be hard to use it under a Plum Crazy 57 Chevy funny car body, as it the same as Cop Out.
  7. Sorry YJ, kinda forgot about this thread. I was trying to post direct from my computer, think I need some help. Anyway, my cars are a 57 Chevy 210 2 door sedan. Just at the end of a 5 year & too many £££££££££'s rebuild. 383,500bhp, mini tubbed & a few other cool mods. Also just picked up a 91 Fox Mustang 5.0 GT, to replace the wheezy 87 2.3 Fox. I'll hopefully figure out how to post some pics.
  8. I found 1;16th rear Daisy Mags from Competition Resin, so a kinda start, but nothing in 1;18 yet. I may have to go with modded Torque Thrust's as a 2nd option.
  9. The do look close, sjordan2. Probably closer than the Cragars. Doughnut, I've got some Cragars from the AMT 1;16 57 Chevy, so I'll compare those first. I'm sure I've seen resin Daisy mags on ebay, but coulda got the scale wrong due to my bad memory.
  10. I've just bought a damaged Ertl 1;18 Two Lane Blacktop 55 chevy. I plan to repair it & make it a bit more realistic with some weathering ect. BUT it has Cragar 5 spoke wheels, not Daisy Mags as in the film (c'mon Ertl pay attention). Where can I buy 1;18 Daisy mag wheels ? Resin or did they come on another car ?
  11. Thanks for the welcome Ken. Whats your ride, I'd hazzard a guess a Plymouth ?
  12. Heres mine ?? ?? Erm, all my pics are too big How do I resize to post ?
  13. Hi txrat NICE Nomad Cool its been in your family for so long. Have you build a kit of it ? Doesnt look like it needs much, but then again I said that with mine
  14. Thanks for the welcome Jim. There is a big Tri Chevy following in the UK. Back in July we had over 50 Tri Chevys (1;1)at one show, the highest number ever acheived at 1 time. Hopefully there will be more next year. My car has been here since the early 80's (that why it had so much rust ) Its nearly finished after a 5 1/2 year rebuild. Hopefully finish the kit soon too. And I've got a bag of real 57 Chevy rust, for the 'before restored' model, lol.
  15. Hey, this looks full of like minded loons, so I'll open the door, wipe my feet & say Hi. As you can see by my name, got started a looonnnggg time ago with a 57 Chevy kit that came with some cool decals. Have a weak point for 57 Chevys & drag inspired muscle cars. After 20 odd years, finally got a 1;1 scale 57 Chevy & am I thankfull to the guys at Revell for the bel air sedan kit. Got 1 in progress as a rep of my 210. Getting back into building as its a lot cheaper than 1;1 scale ! Must admit to buying them quicker than I build them, but I'll dig out a few pics of what I've built. I loiter on a few other forums, mostly on Rods n Sods, here in the UK. There is a 'shelf' for all the model guys to hang out, have a peek here http://www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/shelf/ Anybody else on here, building a 1;25 of their 1;1 ? Now, I'd better go & check out all the past cool threads on here & find out what I've missed.
  16. Fantastic builds Even tho I'm a Chevy guy, can feel the need for one of these Darts.
  17. Hi Guys (& ladies ?) First post from a newbie, so I'm still checking everything out. Budget low buck display case ? Go to the pet shop, get a cheap fish tank & turn it upside down on your display shelf. Better than letting the dust get to them.
