Renault 4L from Heller and Ebbro
niteowl7710 replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yes? Everything is one position or the other with perhaps the exception of the hood, which might hinge, it's hard to tell from the instructions exactly how that will work. Really nonsensical if it's like the doors, windows, back hatch and roof and fixes either open or closed. -

They aren't operational unless you make them as such, they're either opened or closed out of the box. -
Yeah I had not seen the S-Package version of the Legnum is a long while so I tackled it when I saw it. One can never have too many wagons!

81 makes a nice engine transkit for sure, but for $30 you can buy the entire Aoshima kit. -

FYI - the next installment of this series is available for Pre-Order. The 4 Fourgonnette is slated for a December release. -
You have to take into consideration when the J80 Land Cruiser was first tooled, and compared to other early 90s kits from Fujimi (EM kits excluded) it's about the same, and the Tamiya one is vastly superior before you even get to the full detail part. Fujimi did a J100 ('98-'07) Land Cruiser, and it's on par with a Mid 2000s kit, new chassis, poly caps, non-motorized, etc. Be nice if they'd update it to the current J200 bodystyle and offer LHD and Lexus markings for it and the J100, but Fujimi is REALLY all about the JDM market.

Revell 4th Quarter new kit announcements
niteowl7710 replied to Brett Barrow's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The last time it was released was right after the Revell/Monogram merger in a twin pack with the Slant Nose Convertible. That Slant Nose 911 has been reissued since then, but the 911 Turbo hasn't been out since the mid-90s. -

It wouldn't shock me if it had decals for the Rabbit GTi as Revell U.S. tends to put different decals in the reboxes (as seen in the Ferraris, Audis, and '68 Beetle) with U.S. tags. Since the Golf logos are probably decals, it wouldn't be hard to swap them into Rabbit ones. Since you can't order the Mk. 1 Golf Cabriolet from Tower Hobbies I'm guessing that's getting reboxed to as a 1Q 2015 release. -

Well comparing a 70s kit to something just tooled last month is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. -

Or they just used a Lindberg Crown Vic for the flyer. I don't expect to get a real '14 Mustang or '14 Corvette in the kit box, and that Torino looks suspiciously like the 1/18th diecast car Ertl did. They obviously don't have REAL kits to use, that Rabbit...err Golf is going to release in a month or two on the German side of things, and they're still using the stock footage of the real car that Revell AG used when they announced it back in January. -

It's currently in the Lindberg catalog, and they just stocked a bunch of them over to Japan. After the big "Fire Sale" they did a few years back that involved thousands of those Crown Vic kits, can they still have NoS kits lying around? -

This decade? How about this CENTURY? Now all of us adult modelers were told to grin and bear it with that 7 piece 2015 Mustang, and a few really nice builds of it have gone around. But why if it's entry level for kids, could it not be a Taurus Police Interceptor? Rather than pouring plastic through the old Motormax diecast tooling? Because the idea they cut a whole NEW to the world tooling for that Crown Vic is frankly stupid, when the same money could have cut a 2014 Police Interceptor. Could they not build and play around a new car with their new Mustang? Nobody over here is still patrolling the streets in a car that in that body style was last produced SEVENTEEN year ago You know what the REAL irony of that is? When Lindberg released their kit of that body style Crown Vic they were given a ration of flack over it being released AFTER the body style changed to the 1998-2011 body. Here we are SIXTEEN years later and we're kicking another one of them out? -

Revell 4th Quarter new kit announcements

I skimmed the listings over there and I missed it too just looking for it. But specifically searching it shows a September release. Interestingly enough the '13 Challenger & Camaro which were showing September when this thread was started a few days ago now say Late October. Some shuffling of release dates already... -

Shame about the hack job...sure $$$ is a consideration, but tooling a new HT body and then chopping the top of it, even if you held that new body for a couple of years before releasing it seems like a better investment. Several guys in my club were excited to hear about this kit, I don't think the accuracy is going to stop them - or truth be told me either, after all what is the alternative? But a lot of people in my experience had forgotten about this kit coming after it's punting back in the schedule to fix the X-brace issue. So there's still a demand for Tri-5s, and it's not like I surround myself with an older generational crowd. Releasing a HT '57 in say another 18 months would be met by a certain amount of "NOT ANOTHER TRI-FIVE KIT!!! whining, but they are iconic cars and I doubt you'd ever really have trouble selling them. Especially to the casual builder who wants a '57 Chevy, if the HT kit was the only one on the Wal*Mart/Hobby Lobby/Michael's shelf at the time. -

While it's certainly possible, why wouldn't it be under the Ford Expedition name. The rebox (can you call putting something in a clam shell store hanger a reBOX?) of the Audi R8 into that non-box is listed by it's name rather than "Audi Sportscar". Beyond that on a technical footing you can't reissue something you currently have issued The SVT Raptor is 3Q release, so it's not the subject of this thread. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beyond that there was quite a bit of complaining/whining/et al about why it took Revell so long to put out a kit when the Asian manufacturers can announce something and then release it 60-90 days later (the lag of getting into the U.S. doesn't count). Now Revell goes to that format of doing quarterly announcements and the pendulum has swung the ENTIRE opposite way and as seen in the other thread about the '14 Corvette people are losing their minds that Revell can't possibly keep secret a kit like the Torino and then actually issue it without it being some red-headed stepchild of the '70 Torino GT kit. Pick.a.side...it can't be both at once. The thing to me - unless there are more secrets to be told - is the lack of any real NEW tooling other than the Corvette & Torino. The '14 Mustang isn't the NEW car, it's the last car of the '10 GT/'13 Boss generation. Maybe the Corvette bodes well that they've managed to "dumb down" the Challenger, Camaro & now Mustang into the easier pre-painted kits, maybe they'll expand the Stingray into a full-on Level 3 (or whatever level full on glue kits are with the new level system), full detail kit in 2015. There's a lot of money being funneled into the lower age bracket/lower skill level, we shall see if that investment pays dividends in the long term. You'd have figured maybe something else in the way of modified tooling ('57 Ford, '50 Olds, etc)...or perhaps we have to wait till August to have our minds fully blown. A classic bait and "switch"..."leak" information and then WOW them with the official release. -

Yeah that $40 price difference for the same kit is a bit of a jump. -

It is a Revell AG rebox of the Aoshima kit. Might I also say the only reason YOU have it is I went to bed after work figuring I'd buy it when I woke up. Literally a "you snooze, you lose" deal For some reason PayPal will not Sync with eBay on my phone or I would have bought it from work that night. -

Revell 2014 Corvette Stingray
niteowl7710 replied to Models areMyLife's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
There are two Corvettes one at $16 and one at $12...the $12 one is listed in the Snap-Tite Section. There's also a $16 '14 Ford Mustang GT. Makes me think both the Vette & Mustang are part of the line of pre-painted body/simplified construction kits like the '13 Camaro & Challenger because $16 is the running price on those. In addition to the above mentioned Starsky & Hutch Torino, there's also a listing for a '55 Ford Panel Van. Both of those are slotting at $20, which is couple of bucks cheaper than the new tool '67 Camaro ($23), so that makes one think "modified reissue". The Build & Play Mustang & Audi are priced at $12...but this new "Ford Police Car" as well as a DIFFERENT Audi R8 (for Nov) are priced at $10. Is there a way to de-content a 7 part kit even further? -

If you wanted to keep it "local" for trailers, why not contact Wabash National? They're in Lafayette, IN, and the thing most people seem to want most is a spread-axle platform flat bed trailer. Wabash makes them under the Transcraft and Benson names, and frankly I see way more of those than I ever do MAC flat beds. I get the MAC angle, you could parlay it into stainless end dumps and pneumatic bulk tankers, but coming back around to them later for those and going with the easier, and more fleet popular Wabash brands seems like a better means to an end.
