AMT 1960 3-in-1 Ford F-100 Pickup Truck
niteowl7710 replied to rekcirb13's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
It's a moot point at this juncture, but if it was not the pickup then Steve would have specifically said it wasn't. Much like how in past days when the Chicago Car Club saw Revell items months in advance, but were sworn to secrecy there's a group of folks who see Round2's items in advance but likewise can't talk about it. -
Last update I've seen is Mid-June for the Euro release. With the '71 442, kits were available in both boxings within a week or so of each other. Revell had a display somewhere in Europe over the weekend - believe it was the UK - where they were advertising all of the Bond kits to be released later this year, so this version of the Mustang has to get moving or it's going to be lapped by the Bond reissue.

I know Steve mentioned here a few weeks ago that he would have additional new things to show in Jersey at NNL East. I was otherwise occupied with our local IPMS Club's show yesterday, so I did not make the journey to Michigan. Do plan to be in NJ though. -

It's not a matter of official, it's already been confirmed by Steve as an upcoming item and that he'll have a prototype in Detroit on Sunday. The only questions would be the full details of what exactly to expect with the kit in terms of how close it is to the original, and how much is modern day tweaks to improve it. -

I'd expect April/May depending on the land mass in question. It should go up for pre-order in Japan in a couple of weeks as all of the kits for the Shizouka Hobby Show are made available. -
You're talking about making new parts, and a whole new body tool at that point. It's not financially practical to try to reshape things, particularly if they need to be made smaller because of the difficulty of adding material back into a piece of tooling. You're talking about a bunch of welding and grinding on something from 1969. I suppose it's possible, but that would be a significantly different type of investment than what they've done to the old tooling in the past.

Once in that boxing, and then reissued around 1993 as the "Ghost Rider". -
GTO isn't selling anything, it's still on the way. Also keep in mind things are planned out 18-24 months in advance with most of these companies, I doubt their going to shoehorn in this kit to oust something else they already had planned because a few dozen people on this forum think it would be a good idea. You're playing a long game to get this...

Yeah but it's not even a question of being competitive with HLJ, 1999 or Plaza Japan, because shipping at this point is almost (or over depending on which freight method you use) $20 per kit, even when ordering in "bulk". Even TamiyaUSA who was famous for doubling their Japanese Price when reselling here has calmed down and prices their kits competitive with the Japanese price plus pre-Covid shipping. The $44.99 MSRP I'm quoting is what Stevens is posting for their "run of the mill" Aoshima kits. If you're a LHS (Charle's example, not *you* personally)and you're then shelf pricing your Aoshima kits another $10-15 OVER MSRP when you're getting them at whatever the Stevens Distribution/wholesale price is...sorry but that's price gouging at worst, or preying on uninformed consumers. I've seen a few online retailers say their having a "Big Sale on Tamiya Kits!" - which might technically go against Tamiya's whole MAP thing - to find out the "sale" prices are actually still higher than the same items would cost if you bought them as a consumer directly from the TamiyaUSA website. The normal price being 25-45% HIGHER. It's no wonder a lot of people are under the impression that import kits are crazy high priced, when in fact if you have a good Hobby Shop run by a honest proprietor they're not. -
Your proof of purchase would be the bar code on the box. It's designed to track replacement parts so that people aren't just asking for replacement tires, wheels, bodies, et al without actually buying a kit. People long ago ruined the "no questions asked" parts replacement at Revell by scamming them out of stuff (on both sides of the Atlantic).

Most Aoshima kits are U.S. MSRP'd around $45, which puts them in under the new MSRP at Salvinos. The exception being some of the more licensed full detail kits like the Lamborghini and Pagani kits which are MSRP'd at $75. Most Italeri kits (other than their semi trucks) should be shelf pricing (the actual price in-store, not MSRP) in the low to mid-40s Sounds like the shops up there are price gouging... -

Actually the American Muscle Car Hop Up Sets shown above were a third party wheel not connected with Aoshima or Fujimi. But the wheel set being reissued in this list is the set from the kit I posted, not the MRC wheels. -

No MRC was just an importer, primarily for Fujimi items in it's heyday. Those Aoshima "Cragers" are a BIG and little set from their...unique...take on the concept of what a Hot Fod is/was -
Pretty sure that's Gary Kulchuck's. It's a Meyer Manx with a metric ton of modifications, scratch-building, and kit bashing involved and it's "powered" by the engine out of a Tamiya 1st Gen NSX. It's really quite something to see in person, one of those models you can look at all day and keep finding new things.

On the Hearns Hobbies site listed in the first post the Shipping to Pennsylvania (and I suspect most of the U.S.) is $30 AUS, which is $19.72. Total cost to ship one kit is $99.98AUS which is roughly $65-68 depending on what kind of exchange rate your credit card or PayPal feels like giving you on a given day. AUS to USD is roughly 66 AUS cents to a USD at the moment.

They appear to be Holden HQs which were made between 1971-1974, with 1973 being the first year a 4 door Monaro GTS existed. In 1975 the line was facelifted into the HJ Generation and those have a different front and rear fascia compared to the model kit.

What do the back door windows look like? One of the visual oddities about this kit and it's "now in plastic" format is the front door window trim is molded with the doors since they previously opened on the diecast. I'm wondering if the rear door glass has a robust enough trim around it to actually be able to paint it body color.

Steve already mentioned in the thread about those kits that they are not in any sort of near term plan.
