Thank you everyone for your comments

Tackled one of the things I was stuck on, the front splitter/bumper mount. I wanted to retain my modified bumper but also give a aggressive front spoiler look too. I think I am finally getting somewhere. Don't mind the fitment, it is just taped in and I still have a lot of finish work left. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

Quick and dirty slump-buster, until today it was well over a year since I finished anything. We have two shows coming up and I had this week off. I decided to see if I could knock out a quick curbside in about a week so I would have something to take with us. Got it finished up today and I can say it feels pretty good to finish something. Now to get one of those stalled projects completed.... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

really cool concept -
Just put my head down and got to work today, final assembly and I should have it ready to finish up in the morning. Pretty happy with how its turning out. Sure its just a curbside and not uber detailed, but it has been fun to build and I haven't finished anything in over a year. Seeing the finish line on something is really satisfying. Couple interior pics before I glued it in the body And what I spent most of the day doing.. spent a little bit polishing out the roof and a lot of bit applying bare metal foil. BMF and installing the windows are always the most nerve wracking things to me so they are super gratifying tasks after completion. with any luck the next update will be "under glass"

a little something to tie the doors to the seats and interior in paint, Ill give it a day or so before I attempt to foil those door panels.

really is an example of what can happen when you add a mixture of; a well thought out plan, today's technology and the skill to put it all together. when I was younger the idea "treat every part like a model" really stuck with me, and for anyone wondering why this thing looks so good, they just need to look at that shifter.. The tiny picture in my phone when you sent it to me didn't show the detail the picture on the computer shows. now I feel bad for not making a bigger deal out of it when you sent it to me -
I really was leaning that way but they don't look right with the gold roof unfortunately.. at least I don't think so
-
That's a great build, I almost thought of a similar color for the roof but went with old trusty gold instead. part of me wishes I stayed like this but this build is kind of dictating itself as it goes
-
-
Well I was feeling the big wheels myself right up until the point I got the gold on the roof. I think it needs the whitewalls. I had even spent time this morning modifying some wheels to work but I'm just going to have to save them for something else
-
I thank you all for your words of encouragement. It is amazing what a set of wheels and tires will do for the attitude of a build and is something I take rather seriously. I haven't decided yet, but I think once the paint starts, that might help steer me in the right direction.

1968 Shelby Green Hornet-----Update! 8/4/18
exesivefire replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It took me a bit, but I caught up on this build last night and this morning and all I can say is "fantastic" Great work, and I always appreciate a builder who can not only take the time to document what they are doing but do it in a way that is understandable so others can learn as well. I picked up a few things to use on my own builds. Thanks for sharing! -
Spent yesterday really trying to make enough progress on my 29 build to get it ready for paint. In hopes that I could still make Saturday's fast approaching deadline for the Buckeye classic. That plan did not go well and I had to call it, I just don't want to start cutting corners and rushing on a build I have put that much work in. That being said, it has been over a year since I have finished anything and I figured a quick (and dirty) curbside might be just what the Dr. ordered. Plans are not 100% but I am having fun again and I am pretty sure that is the point. Going for the driven patina look, entertaining the idea of patina on the main body and a candy paint on the roof. stance will obviously be in the weeds and the rest will probably work itself as I go. You may even notice my trying out several wheel/tire combos as we go here. Started by drilling a few holes and removing the main trim. after scribing lines deeper and removing some mold lines I got it in the first coat of primer. while that was drying I got to work on a pair of bomber style seats multi color primer is fun trying more wheels after primer.
