What chip? Ask anyone who knows me, I'm more of an older Camaro guy. That's why I have more of them than Corvettes. My Corvette is just a daily driver. Great mileage, runs on regular, doesn't collect door dings. Just a simple matter of practicality. Those who own know, those who covet... well... But then again, it is a nice daily driver...

Finally done. A finicky and fiddly kit with more than a couple quirks, and instructions that are only rivaled by old Pocher kits. Being so small did not help... WIP:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=67204

Many are still assuming this “possible look at the C7” rendering is from GM, I for one do not think so as I have stated before, so I think intimating that this is GM’s idea to appeal to the masses is off base. Corvettes have had a pair of (ostensibly) round taillights since 1961. Hidden headlights have come and gone, but the pair of rounded taillights are an ingrained feature I expect to continue. If anything the Camaro will possibly receive a similar treatment after its first major make over. I base this opinion on the history of the first and second generation Camaros taillight treatment and the similarity of the change mimicking the then relatively new Stingray. The current Camaro lights are a nod to the first generation Camaro, and no Corvette ever had any such taillight styling. As for the Enzo not looking enough like an F40 or F50? I heard a lot of discussion about that, most of it not in favor of the direction they went and that it should have followed that “logical” path.

The C4’s went from round to squared off on the ZR-1 and that style later was applied to the base C4 Corvette. Some ZR-1 owners were peeved as many casual observers used that taillight as the only “spotter” ID and assumed any Corvette with square lights was a ZR-1 for a bit. C5’s (new body design) got the oval taillights and they were made less oval for the C6. I'd expect a round themed taillight, probably two per side, on the C7.

Interesting viewpoint. I for one am not embarrassed to be seen driving my Corvette (or any of my Camaros for that matter) or as a passenger in someone else’s. But I have heard that type of comment before (and I'm sure I'll hear it again) from people who drive much lesser cars and to me it sounds like sour grapes or even a little jealousy.

My guess is the transverse mono leaf suspension will stay in some form. It is a very good system. (I even updated my '73 Camaro with one from a C4. Huge improvement.) I also am willing to bet this is just another artist’s conception and not a reality of what the next Corvette will actually look like. I really doubt GM would float images like this that do not follow the logic of past designs, nor would they share what they are keeping under wraps before they want to unveil it (except for that accidental incident that allowed the front bumper to be prematurely shown to the public a few weeks ago), but they do serve to keep discussions about the future Corvette active, which is good for them.

I'll be surprised if the real car ends up with the Camaro style taillights. It runs counter to the traditonal styling of Corvettes in the past. Since it is the flagship of Chevrolet, Corvette has been the one the designers use to estalish the newer designs within the line, not using older details from cars lower in the line. I'm wondering about that rear quarter window too. All said, it is a nice looking car as shown, but I'll wait to base my actual opinion on the real car when I see it, over an artists rendering.

Not a big issue to get them to work over the semi-flat black. I used solvents to help them not silver. More decals… certainly not a quick builder kit, but getting close to applying all of them. Also have the wheels and tires done…

I'd consider buying that to replace my '72 Chevy truck. Could probably replace one of my Camaro's with it too at the same time. Seems like a win/win. You know..., you can like the older stuff and the newer stuff at the same time, each is not exclusive of the other. I like my OLD Camaro as much as my NEW Corvette... -
Tony’s car? Another car that donated its Minilite wheels with rubber tires to a project and I decided to play with the casting and throw some baseline wheels under it. I left off the rear wing and made new graphics.

Time to start applying the decals… Almost two hours to get these four decals on and to conform.

The headlights were missing from the kit so I made replacements. The clear parts are installed as well as the chrome finish areas. BMF was used for the chrome. Some was applied before the clear parts; other portions were applied over some of the clear parts.

What to do with a car that donated its wheels to another project…? Throw some baseline wheels and a new paint job on it.

This is a Renaissance resin and white metal kit. As you can see, it is pretty flashy… It is also very thin in some places, about 0.002 inches (or maybe less) around the rear wheel wells. Cleaned up and a base coat of primer… Since the car is satin/flat carbon fiber black, I put a base coat of semi-flat black down. Some of the brass and stainless parts have been attached and some of the mounting points for little parts have been drilled out too. The interior is made up of resin, white metal and PE parts. Even the wire is included. Yes, that is a cell phone to the right of the seat.

Very believable concept execution. Perfect color choice too. If you could swap the head lights on one side (don’t know if it is too late) so they were mirror-symmetrical they would just look like custom fluting on the crinkly ones.
