IS IT ME? or are people crazy
Smart-Resins replied to oldman23's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Honestly, I dont think the body is all that horible! No I would not pay over $20 persoanly for it. However, I think you will find that more then likely, the poeple bidding on it is probably looking for a good body to put onto thier 1/24 scale slot cars! That is the reason why you will find many good already painted and decaled bodies only on ebay for sale. There is more market in slot cars in that scale then one might think. A few months ago as I started delving into that side of things, I was astounded by the prices poeple pay for things and to what extent they go too for thier hobby! Jody -
Hello everyone. I just scored a 1/16 sealed jungle jim vega for $30 shipped!I have been wanting one for a while. Someone had promised me one. LOL. David may remember who that is. LOL. I wont go there! I have already put a shpout out to David since he is the expert. But I will also ask you guys as many of us do 1/16. Who all ran a vega, and what decals can I get in 1/16, or in 1/25 so someone can enlarge them for me? Also, need to remember who has wrinkle wall slicks and some of the other goodies for it! I know comp resins and altered states, but otherwise its been so long working on 1/16, that I dont remember. Heck, I ended up getting rid of all of my 1/16 but the daughters bird, my custom van and one that is to go to someone else. Thanks for any help. By the way, pics would be super too! Thanks. Jody

my revised hobby room
Smart-Resins replied to Irvin Arter Jr.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am currently finishing off a 10' x 22' basement room for our hobby/game room. It will house a HO scale drag strip and road course as well as a HO scale train set. We will also have my computer, painters booth and shelves. It will be very nice to me. But man, it will be nothing compared to what you have there!! WOW is all I can say! Jody -

What I did Yesterday!!
Smart-Resins replied to Smart-Resins's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We had company over yesterday afternoon until about 1 in the morning. So when I got up this morning, I built something to keep busy. I waited until this afternoon to get a nap in! LOL. This is the bench work for the HO drag strip. it wouls out to a one foot staging area, a scale 1,000 foot strip and a 5 foot dead braking area. Hope you enjoy. Jody -

LOL yeah, huge dirorama. Mostly in HO scale. LOL. Will also make room down there for my 1/25 scale garage dio! Thanks. Jody -
Well, as the weather gets warmer and we look forward to summer vacation ( not really ) we have tried to decide how best to entertain all of the boys in the hows, including the big one. LOL. So we have decided to add a game room or boys room. I refer to it as Mans Land! We are starting out with a 12' x 22' area. We will be adding a bench, a HO scale drag strip, a HO scale slot car track and train track area and some other misc. stuff including my computer and a small refrigerator!! So I spent the better part of yesterday painting the exterior walls. Now its onto rebuilding one of the interior walls, insulating it so its warmer during the winter, and putting up drywall and painting that! I will also be building the table for the slot track/train track and the drag strip in the next few days as we wait for our taxes for more materials. Here is a very unusual pic of my working!! To see the rest, follow my link. Thanks. Jody http://s440.photobucket.com/albums/qq126/s...ns/Mans%20Land/

Well, I have one side of my maverick almost done. Need to putty up the front spoiler just a little bit and then clean up as well as clean up the rear end some/ Looking at the front view you can see how I added onto the ends of the spoiler to round it out and into the body. Looking at the side, you should be able to tell that I added some ground effects tot he center of the body and to the rear. I also extended the rear wheel well opening out some. I removed the rear spoiler and added a scratch built one to enlarge it and get it to go more smoothly with the flow of the body. Moving around to the back. you should be able to tell that I molded the rear light bezels into the body as well as the bumper. I also added a exstension onto the body to mold the bumper/body and spoiler together for one whole smooth appearance. You will also note that it took me about 5 hours to do this all and that I have not done the other side yet. LOL. I wanted to keep the body light since it will be on a slot car, but I might be defeating that purpose with my look? However, if you look at the front end, you will note that I did radious the front wheel wells more to make the spoiler flow around and up into the wheel weels. This did remove some material. I also removed half of the front valance behind the spoiler as I molded that into the body and the spoiler. A few more hours and this will be ready for primer!! I hope you all enjoy the new pics . Well guys, as I get into this slot scene, I have two chassis to work on, a vintage Rannalli and a modern H&R chassis. I got the H&R plain so I can add the wheels and motor I want. I am starting with a Malco Multi Maverick body. I removed the rear spoiler and will be adding a Baldwin Motion style spoiler. On the front spoiler, I am adding side winglets for more style. I am molding everything together for a more fiberglass style body. I will also be blanking out the front grill. Here is my start! Jody

Actually I have 5 cragar rims and three tires! LOL. Thanks. Jody

Hello. I have a small update on this. I have painted the frame a dark metalic grey and the suspension componets flat black. I have gluued on the leaf springs, rear end and front axle. Now working on the shocks and sway bar. I still need to touch up and finish painting the body and move onto the motor and interior. I have changed directions on the wheels. I was going to use white walls, but think these look better. However, I can only find three matching ones! Does anyone else have one for me!! Any help would be great. Thanks. Jody

painting whitewalls on tires??
Smart-Resins replied to lowriderphil's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Here is another tip if you want to take the time!I also use those circle templates for sprying on my white walls as I think I stated above. Anyways, I spread rubber cement around the outside of my tire then "glue" on the circle template. This way I dont accidently move the template and overspray the tire. Also the rubber cement doubles as a masking agent so that the paint does not seap through the seam where the template meats the tire. When the paint is all dry, I will remove the template, then just rub off the rubber cememnt. Here are some more pics. Jody
