  1. Alright, now that the pics are uploaded, time for a update on the running boards. The first is the drivers side, waiting for the tuck n roll, the second is the passenger side with it and ready for some clean up! Thanks. Jody
  2. Alright since it was raining and I could not work on my 50 chevy, I decided to do a little bit to this ole girl. Now, just so everyone knows, I got this body from Ian. It had some filler issues, but nothing horrible. I stripped it down in the purple pond and fixed the hood alignment some, but not as good as I wanted too! Think it may have had some fit issued to start with? Ian? I am thinking that he may have used baking soda on filling in the lines? Correct me if Im wrong Ian! Anyways, it was filled with a white powder, wich when sanding, certainly made me sneeze bad!! Part of the reason why I think it was baking soda? I used the back side of my hobby knife to scribe the lines back into the body. Now I will apologize to Ian now. I usually dont undo what someone has done. But the urge was just too strong! LOL. I then removed the drip rail moulding on the body as it in my opinion rightly sucked! I then added new moulding to the car. View my how too! I also removed the roof panel and I am now adding running boards. Yes, I will do a tuck n roll roof panel and tuck n roll running boards. Yes thats right, a custom hot rod willy's! LOL. Without any further ado, here are the pics. Jody.
  3. Alright, since it was raining and I could not work on the paint on the 50 chevy again, I decided to play around with some styrene. I have not been able to find someone else to do my gold leaf decals, so I decided to add that body molding by hand. When the body is all done being painted, I am planning on using actual gold leaf to cover this new trim. Thanks. Just as a word of caution, cut off all of your fingers before doing this, so you wont make a mess that you will have to painstakingly have to sand smooth when you are done. LOL. Now for the pics. Jody
  4. Here is another quick update for every one. First, I couldnt decide wether I would do tuck n roll or not. Then I decided if I had time, maybe I would. Well, I decided to do a combination. The rear seats, cut down from a PW kit I have added half rounds to. Also the roof, I have added quarter rounds to the outside for more style. Then added half rounds to the inside on both sides. In the center I will scratch a console unit. The tuck n roll will be white while the center part will be flocked red. I need to move the light mounts forward, other wise, the roof is almost ready for paint. Just a little clean up. The same with the body. Here you can see both sides of the body are done. A little clean up and I can start painting that as well. The last shot is the frame in the paint booth, getting the finishing touches on it. Soon I will be able to turn my attention to the suspension pieces and alclading them so I can build the chassis. Hope you all enjoy. Jody
  5. Quick up date. I got my flames steering wheel in and painted the flames red naturally. Also got the flocking in for when I am ready! I had to sand off all of the trim since the little trim was no longer right and the larger trim was not the same size as my half round styrene(1/64 difference) I know that may not seem like much, but it was enough of a difference for a huge visual no no! So I sanded it all off and then started to replace it. Here is the first side done. The frame is currently in the paint booth and hope to share pics of that soon. All of the chrome is getting stripped and will be smoothed out and then I will apply alclad over black gloss. Thank for looking! Jody
  6. Alright. I have a show coming up here in just a hare over a month. I was working on a truck for it maybe, but I have body issues. So I decided to start a new project for this. Something very different! I have a LIL Gasser kit and wanted something different. I am using the tank to help finish off my hoochy mobile and the mixer that comes in the kit is not complete. So I went to the drawing board. First I was thinking maybe a Dragon Wagon rear end on it, but I cant afford that! Then I thought maybe a hang man boom on it. Then I recalled seeing where someone did one similar to that in orange and white. Must say it was nice too! Well you know me, I like to be different. So I decided to use the rear 1 1/8" of a paddy wagon body to create a LIL' Fire Engine, something like a cross bread between the LIL Gasser and the Fire Engine #13 kit. So here is the beginnings of it! I am thinking candy apple red, but may do just plain hot red? At this point, I have both sides on and the roof extended. The frame work is done. As you can see, I shortened it in the rear half. Then I lengthened the front section and angled it 45 degrees and tilted the front axle back wards. I had to make the rear rims much wider to fit the huge tires I am using. I am looking for another pair of rear inner rim halves to finish widening the front rims to fit the Indy style front wheels I want to use. I am thinking about drilling the frame out for a better show rod appeal. Thanks for looking. Jody
  7. I also use smooth on. Much prefered!! If you callt hem, they can lead you in the right direction. Great customer care there! You might not get your popsicle sticks and cups there, but you can certainly find them other places for dirt cheap! I think I bought 500 sticks at the local craft store for $5! I cut mine in half, so it ends up being 1,000 for me! As for the cups, micro mark or others sell them as well. Once you get your casting stuff, I know I would be willing to help in any way that I can as others have done for me in the past. Thank you. Jody
  8. Looking very cool! Or tubular? Oh, maybe I show my age on that one. LOL. By the way, I think you got me into slots! LOL. Jody
  9. All looking very nice!
  10. That is a reall bummer. I got mine in January! Hope you find something along the way. Jody
  11. Well europeans, well theres the problem then!! Please read the first definition for the europeans for scratch that I found! 1-Scratch in Old Scratch "the Devil," 1740, is from earlier Scrat, from O.N. skratte "goblin, monster," a word which was used in late O.E. for "hermaphrodite" (cf. O.H.G. scrato "satyr, wood demon"). So, I take it that they deem modifying a perfectly good slot car as the work of the deval!! 2- scratch (v.) 1474, probably a fusion of M.E. scratten and crachen, both meaning "to scratch," both of uncertain origin. The noun is attested from 1586; slang sense of "money" is from 1914, of uncertain signification. So I take it that they figure that modifying a perfectly good slot car costs too much scratch, therefore it must be dumped in some dumb thread and so they duelyy dub it scratchbuilding! Someone seriously needs to teach them the American English meaning of scratchbuilding Scratch building is the process of building a scale model from raw materials, rather than building it from a commercial kit, kitbashing or buying it pre-assembled. LOL. Jody
  12. Alright. Here are my thoughts for what they are worth! Kit bashing is using 2 or more kits to make a model. Like using the roof from one to put on the body of another to put on the fenders of another all to sit over the chassis of another like a pro-street. Parts box build. Yes I view this different from kit bashing. I feel as though this is merely taking left over parts in your boxes and creating something from a pile of junk Scratch building is creating something from material to make something new. I may vary here from others? I view taking a styrene rod and turning it into a steering column by clamping it into a dremel and machining it the same as say taking a glass pack and clamping it into the dremel and machining it into a steering column. To me, both are scratch building. The glass pack for me is just a piece of plastic that I will be using to machine something from. In short, taking a body off of a slot car, painting it and putting it back on is NOT scratchbuilding, but customizing it. Perhaps if they could be persueded to change that heading to customized slot cars, that it would fit many things for them in there!! Jody
  13. I see a boo boo on the windshield frame. Otherwise, you have two thumbs up from me. I think the concept is terrific! Nice colors too as well as a great power plant! By the way, you are not the only one to have problems with those windshield frames. I wont let you know who else has had one other then he just typed this!LOL.Thanks. Jody
  14. Great looking project there! Jody
  15. Very nice work! Jody
  16. Very nice job on that so far! Some real great modeling there! Looking at some drag racing chassis, this sport can get pricey very quick if you want to compete. Then again, I suppose if one was competing, say like in your version, you would not be adding so much detail as it all adds more weight/drag. I think if I decide to, it will be for the fun of it, the adventure of it as it broadens my modeling horizons. Jody
  17. LOL. I have never scrolled down that far, so never knew that existed!! Jody
  18. Alright. Every once in a while, I see these terrific slot car builds using model bodies and engines and stuff. These are very interesting!! I am actually interested in building one! Now I have ZERO knowlege on slot cars other then they are like big electric race cars. Sorry, please, no offense. That is the limitations of my knowledge. Where can I go to get good information on hor to make a chassis, where to get the motors and wheels and stuff and how to figure out what motors are good and stuff! Thanks. Also, would like to see pictures of everyones model slot cars! Jody
  19. WOW!! I am not into slot cars, but this has me both wanting to build a woody, but also build a slot car!! LOL. Jody
  20. I use the circle template deal and I usually rubber cement it on and clean up any acces cement. That way the template will not move on me! I then spray the tire either using duplicolor automotive etching primer, then classic white, or using thier white primer, wich ever I have on hand. I get good results that way. Here is a model I did in this fashion. Thanks. Jody
  21. Very nice model there! I see the usual flaw of oversized decals.Wish the companies would try harder at getting them correct.! Again, nice build. Takes one back just a few years. LOL. Jody
  22. We are drom upstate NY and we moved to Sevierville TN for short of 2 years. We moved back to NY this last summer for family. We will remain here for a while, but I long to return to TN. We may have lived in NY most of our lives, but we now consider TN our home!! Jody
