  1. Nice Start there! Jody
  2. Dont want to butt in too much, but I want to ask if there will be any chance of any of the 1/16 scale kits being re-released again. The 1/16 scale movement is growing and theres been a big stir in two modeling groups recently and there are a bunch of poeple hoping this means a couple of re-releases. I know for sure I would love to see the Rod Shop 63 Vette back in as well as the 55 and 57 thunderbirds not to mention the others. I await good news my friend. Jody
  3. Straight line modeler has a tutorial as well. I have seen fishing line, wire and tiny plastic rod used. Several different techniques. All of the same basic pricipals are encorperated though. What I would suggest here though is to figure out wich wire rim you wish to represent as I know some have less spokes then others! this may help you figure out the spacing and better look for realism in that scale. I did one some time back using pins on a 1/12 bike. getting the pins in and keepint hte hub centered was tricky till I came up with a good jig. I took a board and drilled a hole in the center to place a rod the size of the hole in the hub. Then I drew my lines for lacing the rim. Then I used a string and pencil to draw the outer circle for the outer rim. I then made a support for the outer rim to sit on at the right height. Then I laced the pins in from the outside. Tacked them with TA. Once it was all done I went back around the rim with more TA. Getting the spokes done right was the tricky part, then the next huge tricky part was to drill ALL of the hole properly. I would probably suggest the plastic idea as it has to be much easier to do! 4. Well, I do not recall seeing a nice 1923 C-cab panel or pick up? Of course building primarily in 1/16, I really want to see one of those as well as a nice model T bucket. Maybe I will have to work on those?? Also would like to see a 1955 Chevy truck in 1/16 and a 1968 Firebird and a 1968 Ford Cougar as well in that scale and last but not least, 1932 Highboy? Anyone else with me in 1/16? Jody
  5. I like that. Very well done! Jody
  6. Yall might think I am crazy, but I may also be the only one in history to attempt this? I have cut aprt the engine into seperate pieces so I can rework them and make them look more realistic and detail them better. Heres a shot fellas. Jody
  7. I just spotted this post.Very nice build going on there. I have a 32 phaeton body I was wondering what to do with. Maybe now I am starting to get the idea! I love that chassis Ken. Again inspirational! Jody
  8. Alright I had a Revell chopper I had worked on last year. I had converted it into a custom trike. Had it painted and almost done, everything except the engine. There it sat. Eventually it got knocked over and broken, then found a box to hide in. After Ken's and Rat's posts, it rekindled a flame. It is back onto the bench for a mad dash for a model show next month. I cut off the top and rear of the frame and made a new section and took the forks that were broken and will be reworking them and make them short. Will have to remake the mounts as well as they were brok. Was going to do a rear wheel mount like a stock bike, but just found some torsion bars off of the Big T so I may make a custom mount for the rear wheel. Also looking at maybe 2 lights and a pair og gages with ape hangers, leather saddle seat and a reworked belt drive with custom air cleaner and brass side pipes.Lets see how this turns out this time. 9. Thats O.K. the rims are all I need. Got the tires. I can throw my set of rims your way if you want them. Maybe Ill get pics tonight of my new frame, well half new LOL. Jody
  10. Two things. I could not resist. I have started hacking up my old bike build.LOL. Second, I understand the low idea as I too want that. I just layed down 2 popsickle sticks, one in the front and one in the back and came to a realization. I used to ride bike and when you corner, the bike leans. So what I am saying is that you can not lower the bike too much or it will be un-realistic as it needs ground clearance for cornering! Otherwise, keep us posted as I am watching both of you guys's threads for input on mine.By the way does anyone want to trade some custom rims for some wire rims? If I am making it back into a chopper, I always prefered the wires.LOL. Oh well. Jody
  11. I actually had one that I turned into a trike some time ago and finished all but the motor and belt drive. It since sat and gotten busted up. Seeing both of you guys's posts has gotten a itch in me! We will see where I go with mine? Jody
  12. Al, I have always admired your work and have always though your builds to be genius! But only you could be insane enough for what you come up with. Will you be using your special straight 6 in it? Keep it up buddy.Jody
  13. Bill, can you send me a message. Thank you. Jody
  14. That thing is cool!
  15. Would you want street or drag? Thanks.Jody
  16. A good friend and great modeler, bruce Stewart has master A Pontiac Astre Front nose clip and rear spoiler. We would like to know if you would prefer the Astre to be made as a stock version, a drag version, or just the mastered pieces be done as a transkit type deal. We would be talking $25 for a full body kit, or probably $10-$15 for the transkit. Here are the pics of the parts on a drag version. Thanks. Jody
  17. Well, this month was held at the cookville show for those who made it.I did not. I am unemployed. Next month will be at that show. The group will have a table there from my understanding. I do hope to see you there. Not sure if I will have anything done, but I am hoping my duaghter can enter one or two. I hope to have some 1/16 scale rims trannny ect there for sale if anyone is into that scale. I remember you asking some time ago about the meeting and you never gopt back with me. We would love to see you there. As for the novice, my understanding is even though it is geared for kids, that novice adults can enter too. Thats one thing I would like to see changed! Hopefully kids will enter and not adults so the kids can get something out of it!Jody
  18. Hello. I am a local, SDevierville TN. I also belong to a local modelers group that meets in Maryville every month, Sick Puppies Automotive Modelers (S.P.A.M.) a few of us are planning on going. I hope to bring some 1/16 scale resin stuff to sell if I am lucky. The group that hosts the show is a militry group. However the last 2 years they have refined themselves. Last year they had a few car groups. At the end of the show they asked one of our members Monty Lowens, who may be a name some of you recognize as he is a great builder whos builds has won sevaral shows and graced the pages of Scale Auto ansd Model Car magazines. He gave them a huge list. They laughed at first but eventually they did add a couple of groups. We are hoping everyone who has automotive builds will show. The more cars show up and the more interest is showed, the more we can persude them to enlarge these catagories. Right now this year the automotive catagories are : 1. small scale: 1/32 and smaller 2. curbside: 1/25 and larger 3. street rods: 1/25 and larger 4. street machines: 1/25 and larger 5. stock calle, all eras: 1/25 and larger 6. competition/ road and track: 1/25 and larger 7. competition/ straightline: 1/25 and larger 8. trucks, all eras: 1/25 and larger 9. reserve automotive: all subjects not fitting the above classes 10. novice automotive: all subjects and scales. last year if I remember correctly, they had 4 catagories only. So there is a improvment this year! If we can get enough, it can only get better. So I do implore you to come! Lets show these mititary guys that there is more then tanks in life! Jody
  19. I am really liking this one! Jody
  20. Hello. Got a little more done on this.Havent posted in a short while, so I will have just a few picks here. I have channeled the cab and made the floor pan and fitted the seat and even fitted Al. I have notched out the rear of the frame, made the motor mounts and started to paint the frame.Heres the pics. of the freshly painted frame.Still have to finish weathering it with a brown(iron) wash.
  21. Transparent candy colors. Oh Oh Oh Oh........ Yes!! Sorry, I think my screen just got wet. ...... Now that is good news. I hate paying the price for such a small can when I can pay the same price for a full size can od Dupli-color. But these new product lines just might be worht while for me ! Thanks for the heads up!
  22. I am a Resin Caster in my first year of production. I have seen in the past where Model Cars Magazine has done reviews on resin parts. What do I need to do to get a review on my items and have them shown in the magazine? Also, if it is possibel, are we only allowed one item, or can we have say 2 items of interest? Thanks in advance. Smart-Resins/ Jody
  23. Thank you all for the replies. Especially thank you for the photos. Looks like a very good thing for me to try out. I am liking the fiery orange color. I am thinking this and a white mixed paint job for a old school rod. Now this does bring me to another question. Can you spray other paints over it for two tone paint jobs?
  24. Man I am not one for fenders, but that thing is looking saweat! I just love that color combination. Now I am inspired. Need to get that new laquer in that kind of orenge and try it!
  25. Thats looking really good. I want to get one of those blowers and use it for reference to scratch build on in 1/16 scale to go on a flatty. With the detail, that should make a great build.Keep it up!.
