  1. HAHA! I'm working on the same thing right now! I'll be following closely. What color do you have in mind? I'm doing mine Plum Crazy Metallic. I've been working on it the past +week
  2. Art, that does help a ton. And you hit the nail on the head. This is my first time with a enamel base clear. And like you said, the whole reason for using it and not the lacquer that I always use, is so that it wouldn't bother the florescent. I figured the lacquer clear would eat the florescent paint right up. I thank you for your time and explanation sir! Do you have any experience with Testers 1261 gloss coat clear? I know its a cold lacquer and I use it exclusively to clear my decal projects as it won't harm them. Do you think it would bother the florescent? I guess the only way to know for sure is to try it. Thanks again man!
  3. Anyone have any experience with Rust-Oleum Bright Coat Metallic Finish Chrome Spray? I just picked a can up and I plan on using it for suspension parts.
  4. Yea, I was kinda hoping for the paint fairy to fly in here and wave a wand and say "use this...." and all your problems will go away. I guess someone shot her?!?!
  5. HAHA! Thanks for the complement man! Believe me, if it looked as good in person as it does in these pics I would be beside myself. I went outside and took some pics in the daylight and the pic still not showing the bone effect that's going on. Its not a terrible looking color and its a uniform effect going though out the white. I'd leave it like that if I didn't think I would get poked with sticks and be made fun of for it not being accurate!
  6. It could be that the clear didn't like the dehydrator? Or did it have a reaction with the white primer and pull out pigment? Here are my steps, I primed the whole car with DC primer, Put it in the dehydrator. Taped off and painted the pink, put it in the dehydrator. Put down a few light mist coats of clear, put it in the dehydrator. Sanded the body down with 3200grit. Cleared a light coat then a heavy coat. Put it in the dehydrator. It wasn't till the last time I put it in the dehydrator that it turned colors on me. Hope this helps you guys. At this point I'm assuming that it just needs stripped? It wouldn't suprise me as this is the second time I've painted this car so this will be the second time I've had to strip it. This car has had a curse on it since I pulled it out of the box.
  7. The plastic is white. I primed it with dupli-color white sandable primer. Then cleared it with dupli-color acrylic enamel clear. its a two tone paint scheme and the other color I used was a flat hot pink so I kept the white flat as well and just cleared them. Here is a pic of the car but like I said, it doesn't show the bone color.
  8. I've never had this happen as suddenly as this did. I painted a car white using Dupli-Color. Then after it dried for weeks, I cleared it with a few light coats of dupli-color. Looked great but had some orange peel. After letting it sit for weeks I smoothed the orange peel out with 3200grit and cleared it again. After sitting in the dehydrator for 8hrs. or so it has yellowed. That's what I believe it has done. It turned to a bone color. I've seen white do this over time but never with in 8hrs. Any thoughts on how to possibly fix this or what I did to cause it from happening again? I've already tried buffing it. I would post pics but the yellowing doesn't show in pics.

The time spent on the engine bay detail is well worth it! Very nice man!!
  10. Yea man, I have to agree with everyone so far. That is a beautiful clean build for your first one!! You did a fantastic job! You got a hold of that BMF too. Very nice craftsmanship. I look forward to seeing more of your work!! Love the weathering on the wood.
  11. Very nice build! You've inspired me to get one.
  12. Very nice clean builds! You've been a busy man.
  13. WOW that's bright! Very cool though. Nice and clean. Welcome back. Hope you keep it going.
  14. Hey ya snapper head!! Thanks bro! You know we could use some more of your work posted around here too sir!! Stop being so stingy!
  15. There ya go!!! That is prolly the answer right there!! I did not know that but it makes sense to me. I thank you very much for passing that info along sir. That's the kind of thing that keeps us going as a community. Thanks again man!!
  16. It says in the description..."Not intented for use with hazardous materials, flammable or explosive paints or materials." so I would think its not such a good idea. I'm always on the lookout myself for a possible indoor paint booth. I just can't justify the cost on a proper booth for the house. Its not a item that I feel you can go cheap on for safety reasons.
  17. Is it allowed? Where's the rule book Doc? I say go for it. If it doesn't look good to you, you can always remove them. I save all my decals in case I come across a build that I think would look good with them. Doesn't really matter to me what kit they came from.
  18. Very cool man! Great work! How about a shot of the 1:1?
  19. Guy, did you tint those windows or does it come like that in the kit? If you tinted them what did you use? Very clean build man! Looks beautiful!
  20. Your Fury is still my favorite!! Great collection!
  21. Looks like you had a fabulous year Wayne!! That 41 Kodiak Ice car is an eye catcher! There all great builds man! You have a beautiful collection. I hope 2012 is just as good or better to you!!
  22. Thanks for the complement Doc. I don't think its nowhere near magazine worthy though. I think my BMF is going bad on me. It gave me fits and doesn't want to seem to stick. As far as the interior goes you have to stick it under your pillow and kiss it good night every night for a week! I took and black washed the low spots then sanded it with some 600grit and then hit it with some Testers semi gloss. The white is just the plastic. I used Detail Master flocking for the carpet. I'm surprised at how detailed the kit is and it doesn't have any interior door handles or window cranks.
  23. HAHA! Your a good sport Harry! I just had the whole family involved in a conversation over this question. Now if a car is traveling at light speed and your in it, and you turn the lights on, they would be on but wouldn't project. If you turn the lights on at a stand still and then go light speed you would have a projection. If your standing still and a car traveling at light speed is coming at you, your not going to see the light or the car.
  24. OK. I think my point got lost. Lets say you have a diorama. Take and put it on a automatic turn table with a set speed of how fast the earth is turning scaled down to 1/25. Wouldn't you get a few revolutions before a 1:1 day is out? I'm thinking there's twelve months in a year for us. So if you take 25 out of 1/25 and divide it by twelve you get a little over two years in scale to our one year. Does that sound about right? I'm thinking in terms of dog years.
