  1. Ok, so your about my age, do you have kids? I have three I'm raising, 17, 12, and 8. There is only 12 yrs between me and the 17yr od and there is a huge generation gap there. I can only imagine it getting worse as time goes on due to how fast technology moves. I get along with my folks just fine too but from me to my kids, totally different world.
  2. Haha! James your a trip man. I'd love to be able to sit and have a conversation with you. Maybe I came off a little one sided in my first post. Do I HATE technology? Not necessarily. But I do believe its crossed lines and when do we say its too much? Like you, I'm in the industrial field as well. And like you I'm sure, I've seen a lot of jobs taken due to technology as have everyone else. I'm sure your thinking yea yea same old song and dance but its happening more and more and faster and faster to the point that everything will be controlled by computers and what good will people serve? There are some wonderful things that come from technology and I'm sure that will continue but I also see people who can't seem to put there phone down and look at you just to have a simple conversation. I was at a bull and oyster roast last week and there was a guy there who's phone sat right in front of him the whole time. He got up to dance and his phone was in one hand the whole time. I just don't get it sometimes. I'm a forklift technician and all the lifts are more electrical then mechanical anymore. So I can relate to your friend at the Ford dealership. Just seems to me that we have lost sight of what purposes things serve. I'm just more of a simpler person and don't need a phone as a computer. Only need it to call someone. I like technology to a certain point but some things just seem blown out of proportion.
  3. I agree with a lot of what seeker has said here. Not only do I feel the youth, but society in general has lost the ability to figure things out for there selves. If there isn't something telling them how to go from point a to point b then it must be broke, or its not user friendly and they drop it and move on to the next thing. I myself only use the computer for recreational purposes. It saddens me to see how dependent living has become on them. If the computer goes down at my place of work then nothing gets done till they're back up. Its no different with cars now a days. If a sensor fails or the computer doesn't like something then the car is down. The times are gone that the average person can give it a "patch"or quick fix" to get it to the shop. You can't even really work on your own car anymore without a computer to tell you whats wrong with it and how to fix it. And its prolly not just with cars. I'm not of the "older crowd" here (29) but I'm told by wife that I have a old soul. I don't agree with technology and I'm always fighting it. I know its a loosing battle. I myself would much rather build cars from the 50's and 60's cause of the time that it represents rather then memories from that time. A time when things were much simpler and men worked for a living. Common sense and logic was the way of living. You could take something apart and fix it for a couple bucks instead of the part costing just as much as a new unit. Now if it doesn't work you just throw it away and get a new one. I don't think its an accurate assessment to just blame video games but rather technology in general for what I believe is gona be the down fall of this hobby. Society doesn't take pride in the things that it used to like automobiles as just one of many examples. Auto's have become throw away items. The change in generations is so great anymore that parents can hardly have anything in common with there kids unless the parents make the effort to be on they're level so to speak. Anything a parent does is yesterdays thing and gets thrown away.
  4. Joker James, Your sedan is looking good brother! The colors sound good too. Keep up the good work!
  5. Thanks again for the hook up Hugh! I was wondering where you were at. Good to see you on here. Thanks again for the comments folks. Its been busy here for me lately but I should get some build time in tomorrow for at least the first half of the day. There calling for rain the next two days but I'm aiming for some color the first part of the week.
  6. Yea, I only droped $35 on mine at Carlisle last year. They have some awesome deals on kits there as well. I can always find kits I want for $5-10. Going again this Friday. Its always a great time and its where I get most my kits for the year.
  7. Good build Shawn. Paint is nice and smooth and the decal job is real nice! What paint and decals did you use? Did you do any detailing to the engine or chassis? Any pics? From what I can tell from the pics the nose mod looks pretty spot on. You did a good job with setting the stance and getting those wheels tucked in just right. Solid build man!
  8. Nice clean build Ron. I like how the Dupi black turned out, gona try using it. Like Chuck its different to see it built in asphalt form. I hang around dirt guys.
  9. Very cool James and I agree with Ron, we should all have one! I broke down and bought a die cast just to have one, atleast for now till I get around to building one. This will look good in your collection for sure.
  10. Ok folks, I've got some progress to share. I got the interior wood panels installed as well as made some floor rails out of sheet stock and bmf'ed. I got the replacement buckets striped from previous paint and test fitted. As you can see they are not fitting. So I took the base from the ugly kit seats and while it helped still not 100%. So I will have to remove the controlls from the sides of the seats. I'm off to shape up the seats and get ready for paint as well as decorate the interior door skins and start on the engine. No body work has been done due to the third striaght day of rain here. Will update soon.....
  11. Man James! Your cranking them out brother. Your gona be bringing your own tour to the tour! Haha! I like the color combo and wheels selection on this one.
  12. Mark, I've been pretty fasinated with your build up to this point but what you've done on that hood puts it over the top! Great work man!
  13. Thank you for your support and interest Ron, The building will continue for sure brother! I think it will pull together just fine and I'll be proud to show it off for those wanting to see. I did get the trim on the interior panels BMF'ed and put down some flocking. I also got the poly done on the wood. I was really looking forward to using the bucket seats in this kit till I relized how poorly designed they were. It was a let down and I was at a loss. I did manage to come up with a nice set of buckets though out of my parts box. I believe they came out of a Honda civic kit. They are beeing striped now. No pics as of yet but I will update when I get a little further.
  14. Love it! Go get that thing dirty and show us what its all about!
  15. Those pics look great Steve. My favorite would have to be the fourth one down fromt the top. It looks like it just went by and is getting ready to haul a$$! Great work my friend! Oh, and that is some GREEN grass you have there. Are you a landscaper?
  16. I agree with you. No the exterior will not have any wood on it. I was just going off of what they called it on the box. I don't agree they should be calling it a woodie either but I was just going with it. However I was trying to keep at least some of the Woodie-ness about the build with the interior.
  17. I agree! Looks cool man. I like what you did with the interior. Very nice.
  18. That's how I wanted them Jairus. I think it flowed with the fenders better cause they come out to a bit of point at the top.
  19. Ron and Stephen, I'm not getting rid of the wheels. They are here to stay! Thanks all! The 427 it is! I got some more progress going over the last couple days. I got the veneer panels cut and in place. (Thanks again!) Going to smooth them out now and poly them. I also got a shot of primer on. Need to touch some spots up but other then that, its ready for paint. I got the engine pieces striping now. More soon....
  20. Details details details.... The lazy part of me wanted to leave this as is but I have some friends that pointed this out when they saw I bought the kit so I couldn't leave it as is. While its a small thing it took some time to do and really will make a difference in the finished product. It still needs some cleaning and touching up. I also got the chassis painted (no pic yet) and is in the dehydrator now. Maybe I can get you guys a mock up later tonight. Oh, and I also got the suspension painted.
  21. Here's a few more shots of the egine progress....
  22. A little update for you guys. I've been able to get some bench time in the past couple of days which has been real nice. I've started assebling the engine. I wasn't sure what to do about a fuel filter so I made one basically buy cutting a piece of tube and gluing a piece of flat styrene in between the two pieces and gluing it all back together then drilling holes for the fuel line and shaping it. I found the flatest, thinest piece of styrene I could to put in the middle cause I wanted to simulate where the can crimps together but soon found out it was even too think. So I painted it black to simulate the mounting band.
  23. Bob, I got rid of the tv 3+ yrs ago brother and let me tell you what, don't miss it one bit. Plus I obviously have internet and I have yet to have a problem finding what I want to watch. It may not be at the exact time its being aired but that doesn't really bother me. Sometimes I may have to wait a week to find it but it also gives me the ability to watch it at my leiser and not have to worry about being at the tv at a certain date and time. Folks spend all that money on cable or dish and there is nothing ever on. Just a waist of money to me. Not to mention I have three kids and they don't mind it and they're never "out of the loop" with there friends so to speak. Anyway, I'll check out the show as I've always liked the stuff Jesse has built but don't care for his personality either myself.
