  1. plowboy, thanks for your input. This has been a experimental build for me. I've tried a bunch of techniques that are new to me with this build just to see if I can do it and how it will look. I gotta tell you though, I took and did the tailgate and it looks pretty convincing.
  2. Your paint work is absolutely beautiful. Truly inspiring. The color combo you have chosen is very soft and calming. You should be proud!
  3. Welcome to the forum. This build is just a pleasure to look at. Great job with the paint! Look forward to seeing more of your work.
  4. Thanks guys to all those that have been following along and for your comments as well. This one is certainly rounding completion and these will prolly be my last WIP Pics. I only have a few more things to paint up and install and then its one more round of weathering to tie everything together. Also going to try the baking soda process that guys are using for interiors to put in a spray in bed liner. Hope to be done with this truck at weeks end. Enjoy and thanks again.
  5. Fine job. I just got this kit and after seeing your positive comments I am looking forward to building it. Thanks for sharing!
  6. Man that thing looks sweet!!! Nice clean build. Fantastic job with the detail painting! Can't wait to see it in person tomorrow butthead!
  7. I've had those bottoms pop out on me too. It was a brand new can. Scared me so bad I threw it out and went and bought more. The bottoms of those cans are pretty thick metal. I thought whatever is going on inside that can can do that!.... I'm not taking any chances!
  8. MAN!!! I just had to call a couple friends over to help me dig up and pull this thread out! I know its been awhile but modeling had to go to the side for a bit. However I'm back to it and back to this one here. I got the interior finished and the engine done as well. Still have some final touches of weathering to do to engine and chassis but will get to that come final assembly.
  9. Yea man, Happy Birthday! 63 WOW! Maybe we should consider another president! Just kidding man, you guys do a bang up job!!
  10. Way to go on your first build! I love seeing new builders get into the hobby! Its a wonderful thing!
  11. I do like it. Nice job with the pin striping!!
  12. I'm one of those guys that does the body first. I learned this from an older builder who said the body is the most important part and if it gets screwed up then you built the rest of it for nothing. So basically I've stuck with that. I will take and mock up the chassis, interior, and suspension just to make sure everything fits and no mods need to be done with the body.
  13. That is a beautiful radical monte. It would take me years to try and accomplish something like that. I would prolly get burned out on it and end up hating the thing!
  14. Thanks JamesW. I got a few sets of the 520's and at the same time of ordering I got a few sets of 1113. They appear to be they same except the 1113's are deep dish so I will be getting some of the 1109's. I was surprised to see the 15inch scale out. Does Pegusus make a 13inch? Thanks again. Oh and donkeypuncher, I'm with you on the Broncos. I hope they smear the Steelers. Just make sure you keep that enthusiasm when you all have to face the Ravens!! The Monti is looking good bro. I have the same kit and was apprehensive about going lowrider with it. After seeing yours I'm reconsidering.
  15. Unless its a metallic or pearl color. You can't polish or sand on those. You have to clear then polish.
  16. Thanks Roger. I'm willing to try anything at least once. I think after hitting it with the color coat then hit it with some semi/low gloss clear to give it sheen. I'll play with it.
  17. Yea, I'd be interested on seeing the baking soda results along with a brief how to.
  18. James. looking good brother! Do you have the number to those wheels handy?
  19. So this stuff is called flocking? Do you think other craft stores would carry it? Say...... A.C. Moore or Michale's?
  20. Yea, that's my other addiction. I'm on there about three nights out of the week. Its cool cause I've been able to meet folks from all over the country and we can talk to one another while racing. Its like everyone is one the same radio frequency. I even got to race with a fella in Australia. Its a blast!
  21. These are top priority to get finished because like any good model builder, there is a ton of other endless projects ahead and I wouldn't dare start another right!?!?!
  22. OK folks, a couple weeks ago I showed my model room under construction. We had heavy rains during the summer and I got flooded in the basement. Had to gut and redo the model room and two bedrooms. Well today to start the new year off right, I'm proud to say its finished and just about organized to start letting the styrene fly once again!!! Man I excited and can't wait. Let the building begin!
  23. Depending on the age and maturity level we're dealing with. If I can see a child wants to check it out cause they might be interested in building, then I'm all for it. If a rambunctious Tasmanian devil wants to take it outside to watch it burn, then I prolly won't give them the time of day. I've been around kids for years. My wife has a daycare and we have three kids of our own. You can learn a lot about there personality just by spending a few minutes talking with them.
