  1. I have to put in my two cents here and echo everything that's already been said. You did a very nice job with this truck, looks great. Thanks for sharing and congrats.
  2. This is a cool thread with a lot of nice work. Good job and thanks for sharing gang!
  3. I like it and have to agree on the wheel selection. I also like the stance. Nice job!
  4. Some outrageous skills you have going on with this project. I like the last pic with the sun hitting it. You nailed this thing and made it your own for sure! Great job my friend!!
  5. Geez bro you ain't done that thing yet? Slacking!! Your slacking behavior may work to your benefit though as I have some hood pin decals if you would like to use those instead. And I have to agree with Bruce, while your not new to modeling you picked a challenging ride for only starting out with these. However pulled it off nicely no doubt! Getting a subtle fade with spray cans ain't no easy task!
  6. Workmanship. I strive for this with every model. Starting with the basics moving all the way to the end with that final touch. Another thing about workmanship is I don't have to like the subject to be able to appreciate what went into it.
  7. That's a bummer, kinda takes the fun out of it.
  8. Very nice and clean bro! I'd drive it!
  9. This is pretty awesome. I enjoyed it and its short. You don't need a facebook to watch. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=138960352944955%26set=vb.305901075111%26type=2%26theater
  10. I agree, what an awesome concept and great execution. Very nice!!
  11. Nice job Bruce, Clean and tighty work. Thanks for the info Rob. I enjoy the stories from beck then. I myself was introduced to NASCAR in 1990 and spent the whole decade at Dover both in the spring and fall. Best times of racing for me. After the cars changed I believe the sport did too and I have since drifted away. I miss seeing all those old florescent cars gleaming in the sun too. My favorite part is when they fire up those engines and you could smell the exhaust coming from pit road, and then to watch the warm up laps while all the cars looked mint before the 500 lap show down. I really liked the track better when it was asphalt and 500 miles. I think the racing changed when they went to concrete and lost credibility with me as the "Monster Mile" when they cut it to 400 miles. You just don't see the good side by side battling anymore.
  12. You sir have done an beautiful job on this car. Very clean. The only thing I might suggest is taking note of how high the hood sits compared to the fenders. I wouldn't say to sand the bottom of the hood to lower it down cause it matches up with the grille perfectly. I would take and sand on the top to blend it with the fenders. I'm looking forward to seeing the blue with the gunmetal rims.
  13. I would say that has potential. I took some white plastic spoons and went through white, light gray, and dark "hot rod" gray primers and was amazed at the way the paint changes color. I would say to buy a can and experiment with it for sure.
  14. I used Krylon fluorescent green over white primer for my car. I wouldn't say its exact but convincing. I searched for weeks to find something to match that color. It's defiantly a color of its own. I even went to an Interstate store and they couldn't help me. A little note though, if your gonna go this route keep in mind I found this paint hard to work with. It comes out thick and doesn't cover evenly. I had to use several (as thin I could) coats to build it up. And it orange peels like crazy. I would recommend possibly trying the link above if you have an air brush and using my info as a last resort. Here is a pic of the paint I used. http://www.tcpglobal.com/SprayPaintDepot/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemNo=KRY+3106&gclid=CK2Fh4TU1bUCFdGd4AodCwkANA
  15. Came out nice Joey. All you learned from this build you can apply to the next and learn even more with each one as you go. That's what its all about brother! Keep diggin!! As you have more questions feel free to post them and I feel everyone here will help you along, I know I will as much as I can.
  16. I don't think its necessary to wait a week for decals. The main thing is you want to be confident that you won't damage the paint during the process. I say at least three days. You always want to use caution but really take your time if your gonna do it that soon. That enamel paint is going to be soft for weeks. If you go the lacquer route next time you'll be more happy I think. Lacquer flows from the can much better and drying time is significantly reduced. Don't worry about too many questions, I'll help or give ideas in anyway I can and there is a community of people here willing to do the same.
  17. There isn't much you can do at this point with the yellow. Your only option of fixing it would be to strip it and start over. That's wonderful news I know.... in the future build the paint up in several thin coats and let it sit for 20min between each coat. I say four thin coats at least, then after you have let the last thin coat set for 20-25 minutes you can hit it with a good wet coat. You did right by heating the cans, I heat mine up between every coat. Also too, next time you use yellow try a white primer. You will be able to cover it better then gray. I use white primer for all bright colors and gray for dark ones. You have a nice smooth paint job, it looks good, shame about the corners. I would say that happened cause your coats were to heavy and time between coats were too close together. As far as time until you apply the blue..... I say a week or so. Enamels dry really slow, I use a dehydrator to help with curing times and still wait four days before I apply a different color. My fear is that when I pull the tape off the paint will come with it. Then I'm stuck stripping it and starting over if that happens. So I figure its better to give your base coat as much time as possible to cure before playing with it. I've always been told the rule of thumb with enamels is that if you can still smell the paint its not cured. I've also been told that it could take up to three weeks. I'm not trying to discourage you or say you have to wait that long, this is just information I have read and am passing it along. Like I said, using a dehydrator I've moved on to my second color in four days. Hope this helps.
  18. You did a beautiful job for sure.
  19. Wow, you rolling right along, keep digging brother! I have nothing but respect for you even trying to complete this kit in 24hrs and it looks like your making great progress.
  20. I almost drown the other day. I was digging a grave for a deceased buddy, he said he wanted to be buried at sea.
  21. I'll agree that the builder may have went a little too much on the rear, However I don't think its to the point that's not realistic. I'm not talking car make specific or street car as the build represents more of a racing version imo, to which there could be any kind of chassis/suspension under the Porsche body. At the end of the day, he is happy with it and he did a great job on it!
  22. Haha! That's looking on the bright side. I'm planning a shop dio so they will come in handy for sure. These decals were ok I guess, I sprayed three coats of Testers 1261 clear on the sheet as soon as I pulled them out of the box. They didn't take to solvaset at all, when I tried using the solution it just wrinkled up the decals and they wouldn't smooth back out. So I used thinned white glue and my wife's hair dryer to apply the decals. Thanks again for the comments.
  23. Thank ya folks! This thing fought me every step of the way, I even had to use a knife to remove the clear factory plastic from the box. I'm scarred for life! I don't have the desire to ever indulge in an AMT again.
  24. AMT box stock with the exception of a few aftermarket decals...
