  1. First time I've seen this Chevelle made interesting. Your engine treatments are always fun too.
  2. It sands and shapes nicely, feathers decently and is more durable. I use the one part putty more like a heavy primer after I've used the two part for body work. Sometimes I'll slightly thin the one part putty with lacquer thinner and brush it onto difficult areas where I don't want heavy buildup and lots of sanding. Cleans up with lacquer thinner.
  3. I think reissues are the bread and butter of the established model companies and they pay for the development of the new tools. I can't imagine Moebius is making much money because I expect they are pumping their profits back into engineering more new products. I'm sure their "classic" reissues are helping with that. I credit them for banking on the future by investing in a body of work that will serve them later.
  4. Glazing putty has its place as a surfacer but you'll be happier using this two-part putty. Though you have to mix it, it won't shrink and the surface doesn't start "skinning" over while you're working. It'll be a friend to you.
  5. It's not your usual subject matter but it's your usual brilliant build quality. Beauty.
  6. Love these cars. Different is good.
  7. I gotta admit, the flawed paint does give it an interesting beater patina.
  8. Proof that this project is still on the A-list... I had been looking for Chartpak black trim tape for awhile but finally decided to use Tamiya 1/8-inch masking tape painted black. On my way to grab wax paper I saw my electrical tape. I pasted a piece down on the wax paper, eyeballed the width and knifed out several strips the help of a metal ruler. The canopy. Seemed to work pretty well... So I continued to outline the cockpit. Worked okay buy I should have sanded the canopy down enough to account for the tape layers.
  9. Correct. A like button may be affirming, but not helpful. Yes, there would still be room for comments, but people are more likely to elaborate on their "likes" if they're already typing that they like something.
  10. I''m gonna say French Connection 2. - Roy Scheider in the Ventura
  11. Yup. Keep going. You're doing all the right things, just a little more.
  12. Whoa, Jim. This might be one of your finest yet.
  13. For when you REALLY have to declare to the neighborhood how fartsy your little family wagon can be (just in case you can't get maximum community annoyance out from under the bumper.) Welcome to America.
  14. A lot words to say it's Thursday at the docks.
  15. Now that's dazzling. Never seen this car look tough before.
  16. Hmm. Worth exploring. Sounds like a couple more evenings. I may have already butchered the suspension enough to only take PT rims.
  17. This is one I'm struggling with. Having all the performance pieces of a super car, then putting PT Cruiser wheels on it when the Audi R8 wheels with their profile, width and tread are just sitting there... PT cruiser wheels look wimpy & pathetic even on a PT Cruiser.
  18. Right now I use an old computer desk (especially messy during this shot at the end of a project). Used ones are dirt cheap and sometimes free. They're fairly compact and the sliding shelf can keep your project out of the way when you're not working.
  19. Wow you really got this right. This along with Petty's 72 Road Runner are my two favorite Nascars. They just scream beef.
  20. How things have changed. Maybe 10-years ago my brother was building a Revell Apollo Saturn V rocket with his kid and they managed to wreck one piece. He called Revell, explained what happened and wanted to flat-out buy the replacement piece. The customer service woman understood his problem and said he sounded like he was being sincere and sent the part out - no charge.
  21. It's being noted around here since the twin cities of Fargo-Moorhead is where the plane was headed when it went down. People were already gathering in the arena when the news came so local promoters looked to local talent to fill the bill. They grabbed a Fargo teen, Bobby Vee, who was seen by the national promoters who were already here and the rest is more rock history. As a historical side bar, Prior to that date, a very young Bob Dylan spent about a year here playing with Vee's band on his way from Hibbing, MN to the big time. I used to work with woman who saw Holly, Valens and Bopper on their second to last show the night before. Memorable to her because that's where she met her husband. She said that when one band was playing, the other bands were mingling and goofing in the crowd so it was a real party atmosphere. Not like today where security prevents any contact with the performers.
  22. A good ol' fashioned 96-banger. I don't think that's a fire mask he's wearing, it's an oxygen mask.
  23. Delightfully different.
  24. Bravo. Well done. So smooth.
