  1. Previously there had been questions about the flared fenders so I'm reposting the technique.
  2. This is a repost of one of the lost MCM threads from last week. Those who have commented previously, I thank you. You needn't oblige twice, I just want this back on here as a matter of record. Thanks. My entry in the 2014 Cannonball CBP. Wired engine, flared fenders, rebuilt oversize gas tank, shortened rear end with custom nose and tail.
  3. Really well done. I can tell you put yourself in the situation to understand and interpret the weathering.
  4. Here it is. I found my old thread, but it's incomplete and I wasn't able to figure out how to bring it back to modelcarsmag.com. Next might be to figure out how to recover the whole thread then bring it back over.
  5. I would think you could just copy and past into a new thread window. This is the page I get. Where's the little arrow you refer to? I'd like to see how to transfer my info back. (Mac OSX 10.5.8 using Safari 5.0.6).
  6. The problems of the switchover jump up in our faces and completely obscure the successful effort and benefits of the switch itself. So glasses raised to Gregg for his vigilance, perseverance and patience.
  7. Nothing against this forum, but I have to laugh that there's been some technical complication that's stirred up the finish of this CBP for all three years it's been over here. Fate. Maybe next year will be the charm. I'm glad you've got a handle on it Rob.
  8. I wouldn't let skill level rattle you Dennis. Everybody brings to their projects what's inside themselves, and most are happy with that. There will always be better builders. But this is a way to be part of something that's shared, where seeing how each person interprets the "assignment" is half the fun.
  9. Yup. That's the deal. User error. (*Sigh*) . I feel like the archives have now been opened. This is a great site, where questions get answered. I've been helped and I hope Hippie found the info as useful as I have thanks to all your constructive input. Gothicz House Of Kustomz... not so much.
  10. I remember that little gem when you first presented it here. What a nice little fortress of solitude. That second step looks like a doozy.
  11. I love the engineering of your turbo system and how you integrated it into the Edsel shapes. Genius.
  12. Absolutely fantastic. Details are done perfectly. Nice work.
  13. This pretty much sums it up.
  14. Boy that's a smart looking Charger Matthew. Looks like a real party wagon too. I just finished my interior tonight. Not nearly as much fun as the Charger's but I'm glad everything came out nice... aside from the guages of course, which look like kaka. I wanted to add a custom graphic I'd designed and printed but I butchered it cutting it out and the Microscale decal sheet fell apart anyway. So I trimmed an old Cougar decal.
  15. Got the second color on the Torino. Came out pretty nice, I'm happy the separation line came out nice and crisp with no ragged edges or overspray. Masking is always a challenge. Both colors are Dupicolor from the can. I still need to clear coat. I wanted gold wheels, but not bright gold, so I slowly mixed gunmetal until I got the color I wanted, then airbrushed. I might have gone a tad too dark but I'm still okay with it. I also sanded the raised letters off the rear tires. and added The Treatment wax to clean up scuffing so they didn't look so dirty. The rims came with the kit but I couldn't use kit tires. Would you believe they were too fat to fit in the wheel wells. I guess AMT expects you to cut open the fenders and only use them for a dirt track version. These are parts box tires. The dash came along great until I couldn't get the color and wash effect I wanted in the guage faces. I'm not gonna fight it so this is how they'll stay. Guage decals would have been an option but the faces have a fat knob right in the middle of the guage.
  16. No, it's not that. But I'm a little suspicious that I need the very latest versions of Safari. I encountered this when I tried to access the General Motors image library for work it wouldn't work for me because both my OS and browser are not the very latest. 4 years is too old in the tech world.
  17. ...So knock yourself out if posting that many build threads helps you answer the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. (I guess someone had to say it.)
  18. FYI, I have yet to have any success with this method on either of the three Macs (using Safari) I have available to me.
  19. Not just a strikingly attractive model but the detail is utterly unbelievable. Superior work. P.S. My best friend owns a stainless polishing business and last year did a 59 Chevy. He said there is almost 200-feet of stainless on that car. Looooong pieces.
  20. This is a fun thread to read. Fantastic work and really well thought out.
  21. I think there's something a little funky about the depth of field. Can't put my finger on it, but I'm going with model.
  22. Boy, that came out great Joe. You sure brought as much out of that kit as you could. Just curious how you masked your canopy? I've used BMF but it left bits of adhesive behind. Trying to take that film off also started taking paint off. What's the trick?
  23. Niko, I've seen you lay down some great paint jobs. I'm interested in knowing what you think is happening to create the orange peel?
  24. Wonderful detail Zen. Clever application of the fuel cell.
