  1. I remember that little gem when you first presented it here. What a nice little fortress of solitude. That second step looks like a doozy.
  2. I love the engineering of your turbo system and how you integrated it into the Edsel shapes. Genius.
  3. Absolutely fantastic. Details are done perfectly. Nice work.
  4. This pretty much sums it up.
  5. Boy that's a smart looking Charger Matthew. Looks like a real party wagon too. I just finished my interior tonight. Not nearly as much fun as the Charger's but I'm glad everything came out nice... aside from the guages of course, which look like kaka. I wanted to add a custom graphic I'd designed and printed but I butchered it cutting it out and the Microscale decal sheet fell apart anyway. So I trimmed an old Cougar decal.
  6. Got the second color on the Torino. Came out pretty nice, I'm happy the separation line came out nice and crisp with no ragged edges or overspray. Masking is always a challenge. Both colors are Dupicolor from the can. I still need to clear coat. I wanted gold wheels, but not bright gold, so I slowly mixed gunmetal until I got the color I wanted, then airbrushed. I might have gone a tad too dark but I'm still okay with it. I also sanded the raised letters off the rear tires. and added The Treatment wax to clean up scuffing so they didn't look so dirty. The rims came with the kit but I couldn't use kit tires. Would you believe they were too fat to fit in the wheel wells. I guess AMT expects you to cut open the fenders and only use them for a dirt track version. These are parts box tires. The dash came along great until I couldn't get the color and wash effect I wanted in the guage faces. I'm not gonna fight it so this is how they'll stay. Guage decals would have been an option but the faces have a fat knob right in the middle of the guage.
  7. No, it's not that. But I'm a little suspicious that I need the very latest versions of Safari. I encountered this when I tried to access the General Motors image library for work it wouldn't work for me because both my OS and browser are not the very latest. 4 years is too old in the tech world.
  8. ...So knock yourself out if posting that many build threads helps you answer the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. (I guess someone had to say it.)
  9. FYI, I have yet to have any success with this method on either of the three Macs (using Safari) I have available to me.
  10. Not just a strikingly attractive model but the detail is utterly unbelievable. Superior work. P.S. My best friend owns a stainless polishing business and last year did a 59 Chevy. He said there is almost 200-feet of stainless on that car. Looooong pieces.
  11. This is a fun thread to read. Fantastic work and really well thought out.
  12. I think there's something a little funky about the depth of field. Can't put my finger on it, but I'm going with model.
  13. Boy, that came out great Joe. You sure brought as much out of that kit as you could. Just curious how you masked your canopy? I've used BMF but it left bits of adhesive behind. Trying to take that film off also started taking paint off. What's the trick?
  14. Niko, I've seen you lay down some great paint jobs. I'm interested in knowing what you think is happening to create the orange peel?
  15. Wonderful detail Zen. Clever application of the fuel cell.
  16. Beautiful cars, beautiful photos.
  17. That's really a beauty. Worth the suffering I'd say. Certainly makes me re-rethink doing one of these.

Amazing control. Not just in application but color control. Fabulous.
  19. Sorry I'm a little late to answer, I've been gone a few days and couldn't check the can. It's Duplicolor Electric Currant Red Metallic. I've always liked the luster of their lacquers. The pickup's coming along real nice, looks like you'll make it to the starting line. My Torino is still questionable 'cause I won't be home many days before the 1st, but I'm not giving up. Maybe I can cram during T-giving holiday.
  20. The shrink wrap adds no added value to a vintage collectible kit. Once it reaches a desirable price, future buyers are going to be suspect of it anyway. At a certain point, being able to view and validate the contents is more valuable than the old cellophane, which might actually be lowering its value to people who want to know what they're buying.
  21. Which is why you should avoid using RGB as color mode reference for paint because that's only for the color of light, or emitted colors. CMYK is the color of pigment, or reflected light.
  22. If there are heavy body mods I do those very first because if I don't like how things are going, then I haven't wasted time building the rest. Otherwise I very loosely follow the order of the instructions. But in the name of efficiency I skip steps to work on other units while paint/glue is drying.
  23. The whole tearing up the contract seemed a little dramatic to be true. However with so many specific details about the offer and tour, and the delay of a couple days before anyone confirmed or denied the story makes me think there may have been a minuscule grain of embellished truth to it. The rest seems like damage control.
  24. I love this show on so many levels. I spent $300 on the DVD box set. Yikes! One of the most well researched and accurately portrayed episodic shows produced.
  25. Beautiful builds and superbly photographed. Thanks.
