  1. Nice work Matthew, coming along good. The first color is on the Torino and I laid the first masking strip in prep for the black for the upper deck color. This dated kit has basically a platform chassis so there's not a ton of detail for suspension. If I want to lower the front a tad I need to drill new holes. I filled in the existing hole and redrilled above it. It's actually near a where a hole use to be back in the day. Another disappointment is how far forward the rear axle hole is... too far. Must be almost a quarter inch. I've patched the old hole and will redrill once I find the sweet spot.
  2. I retract this statement. This from Wiki... Jason Bonham (born 15 July 1966), a rock drummer who has gained success with various bands including UFO, Foreigner, and Bonham. He previously played in a band called Black Country Communion which included Glenn Hughes, Derek Sherinian, and Joe Bonamassa. Anybody who plays with Joe Bonamassa is not afforded the luxury of sucking.
  3. Unless Jason sucks. I don't know him, but maybe the kid's a clubber.
  4. John Bonham is dead. His death ended Led Zepplin. For that reason, as Robert Plant has stated several times, there will never be a reunion. Though he's done other projects with members, he'll never agree to a project labeled Led Zepplin. He says it would be a dishonor to Bonham.
  5. Superb Harry!
  6. Date restrictions are safe, popular and we'll return to them again. But this is fresh. Like
  7. The kind of setback that just takes the wind out of your sails. Sometimes old paint is no bargain. However I'm confident you'll come through something amazing, as usual.
  8. I've seen some plastic army tents for toy soldiers that would be perfect for the canvas shapes and would be cast-able.
  9. A friend of a friend got a degree in modeling. Travelled to TX from MN for his internship. He's a cook at a grill now. With 3D printing, there may be more outlets for modeling but unless you're passionate about it to go anywhere and take any job with impossible deadlines for any minimum wage for the first several years, then I wouldn't consider it. I have two higher ed degrees and what I've learned is academia is full of vacant promises from instructors who are teaching rather than doing. Just my jaded take on the career aspect of it. 3D printing is getting too exciting to ignore though.
  10. Tim, the interior looks excellent. Very crisp. That stuff takes patience. Matthew the tailgate worked out good. Interesting.
  11. My GF told me. The most non-car oriented woman I know was a big Car Talk fan. Sad about Tom. Weekend public radio goes back to tree hugging.
  12. A while back I chose to make a taillight out of a semi truck exhaust pipe. I finally got around to cutting it up and airbrushing it tonight. This is what it looks like after paint. It fits pretty good too. Can't wait to get color on the Torino body and see how this looks inset into the bezel.
  13. X2. Having built one, these are exactly my questions.
  14. I test drove a 2nd gen. Probe, interested in buying it but I was literally tripping over my feet clutching & braking. Sales guy said the pedals were so close because women have small feet and Probes were somewhat targeted to them... to which my reply was, "how many women enjoy driving manuals?" That said, how many times do we hear women enjoy the feeling of empowerment? That may be why most of women I know like sitting up high and feeling safe in big, bulky, SUVs.
  15. I'm in awe of people who do excellent work with marker art. Love your ideas, love your technique. I hope we see more in one form or another. Class A stuff. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Even junk is a better starting point than nothing at all. This is kind of a "junky" kit I buiit as a tyke, but the sectioned body is nicer than anything else I've seen and looks so good if built well. I'd like to restore it. Low parts count and a bit toy-like, but if it came out again there could be some serious kit bashing (read as "kit blending").
  17. Jonathan you scurvy dog, those are my Torino colors, only in reverse. Looks pretty good, so I'll have to step mine up. It's been looking like I won't make it to the starting line but I'm not cashing out yet. I got some quality time this week to prime and spot glaze the Torino, an evening of sanding and another evening of painting small parts. Last night I assembled the engine and drudged through my least favorite modeling task of stringing finicky wires. With it done though, it's a nice feeling of accomplishment. Considering the age of the kit, the engine fills out nicely.
  18. Error on this post.
  19. I used brake fluid just once. It made all the parts too brittle and crumbly to work with. A fingernail would scrape a mar into the plastic. Damaged an otherwise nice Johan 60 Adventurer and ruined the small detail parts. Never used brake fluid again.
  20. Silver seems guaranteed to last into the next millennium. I didn't say it would be "good," just not dried up.
  21. So it can be done. I've got just such a glue bomb that had me wondering how involved it would be to drop a V8 into. Thanks for the proof of concept.
  22. She cared for you a lot Dave and I'm sure at the time of her sacrifice she felt it was necessary and right, and therefore not a burdensome hardship. However that's what heros always think. Getting you over the hump and escorting you on to a productive life was her reward. Moms.
  23. To me it comes down to wheels. Pretty much all 1/24 scale motorcycles I've seen look like toys. Almost exclusively because they can't get the (spoked) wheels right with plastic. If they upped the price a buck or more and used photo etched rims, people would marvel at how great they look. I agree, maybe Harley Davidson (et.al.) could keep the licensing and market it themselves with contract molding. If it looks right, I'd love to have a couple.
