What is a "girls " car ?
Lunajammer replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I test drove a 2nd gen. Probe, interested in buying it but I was literally tripping over my feet clutching & braking. Sales guy said the pedals were so close because women have small feet and Probes were somewhat targeted to them... to which my reply was, "how many women enjoy driving manuals?" That said, how many times do we hear women enjoy the feeling of empowerment? That may be why most of women I know like sitting up high and feeling safe in big, bulky, SUVs. -
I'm in awe of people who do excellent work with marker art. Love your ideas, love your technique. I hope we see more in one form or another. Class A stuff. Thanks for sharing.

How to run a model company
Lunajammer replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Even junk is a better starting point than nothing at all. This is kind of a "junky" kit I buiit as a tyke, but the sectioned body is nicer than anything else I've seen and looks so good if built well. I'd like to restore it. Low parts count and a bit toy-like, but if it came out again there could be some serious kit bashing (read as "kit blending"). -
Jonathan you scurvy dog, those are my Torino colors, only in reverse. Looks pretty good, so I'll have to step mine up. It's been looking like I won't make it to the starting line but I'm not cashing out yet. I got some quality time this week to prime and spot glaze the Torino, an evening of sanding and another evening of painting small parts. Last night I assembled the engine and drudged through my least favorite modeling task of stringing finicky wires. With it done though, it's a nice feeling of accomplishment. Considering the age of the kit, the engine fills out nicely.

anybody else have this problem (brake fluid)
Lunajammer replied to mnwildpunk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I used brake fluid just once. It made all the parts too brittle and crumbly to work with. A fingernail would scrape a mar into the plastic. Damaged an otherwise nice Johan 60 Adventurer and ruined the small detail parts. Never used brake fluid again. -
Silver seems guaranteed to last into the next millennium. I didn't say it would be "good," just not dried up.

So it can be done. I've got just such a glue bomb that had me wondering how involved it would be to drop a V8 into. Thanks for the proof of concept.

She cared for you a lot Dave and I'm sure at the time of her sacrifice she felt it was necessary and right, and therefore not a burdensome hardship. However that's what heros always think. Getting you over the hump and escorting you on to a productive life was her reward. Moms.

To me it comes down to wheels. Pretty much all 1/24 scale motorcycles I've seen look like toys. Almost exclusively because they can't get the (spoked) wheels right with plastic. If they upped the price a buck or more and used photo etched rims, people would marvel at how great they look. I agree, maybe Harley Davidson (et.al.) could keep the licensing and market it themselves with contract molding. If it looks right, I'd love to have a couple.

Hey, look who showed up for the dance! I like it already Zen. I've always hated those wheels but I think you found right project to put them on, they're perfect. Looking for more.

Scratch built flat bed wrecker
Lunajammer replied to Rudy2013's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That bed looks like it came with the kit. Very nice all around. -
That's hilarious. I laughed out loud. Showed it to my girlfriend and she thought it was disgusting. Sooooo, well done my friend.

Aside from it looking hot, I too am surprised you could do that level of detail in a day. Excellent.

Gettin' flashy all of a sudden, eh Chuck? Well it almost shines. Great choices on your selections from the coupe kit. I really like it.

Aurora reborn? ...Not! (I think)
Lunajammer replied to mr moto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, sounds like there was another game at play here that had nothing to do with reviving old kits. -
One I've kicked around for a couple years... Cannonball Place to Place - Any car named after a physical location, be it planet earth or otherwise. When you think about it the list is almost endless. Plymouth, Pontiac, Mercury, Riviera, Torino, Galaxie (sp), Saratoga, Talladega, Daytona, Bonneville, Lincoln, Bel Air, Corolla (NC), Fairlane (TN), Mustang (TX), Eldorado, Fleetwood (Lancashire and GA), Vega, bays, deserts, isles, mountains, planets, (streets?) etc, etc. If you have a model you want to build but are unsure if there is a locale with that name, type it into a mapping or weather site and see if the name comes up. The down side is it would almost be as broad as the "anything goes" theme we're just coming off of.

Nice work Dominik. I like this pic. Cool looking engine with the rest of it.

It's such an unusual subject that you may be better off that it's a curbside, since its dramatic look might overpower any engine or chassis detail you'd add. It's been suggested putting the Ferrari 308 chassis under it could give it detail and should fit, but I'm not sure it's worth it. Such a strange subject but that's what this thread is about and you're off to a rock solid start. Nice work Tim. Looking forward to more.

That's a very clever idea and I like it. Problem plagued though and I'm skeptical it would play out as envisioned but it would be fun to follow.

No takers? "The Immortal" starring Christopher George. He was a test car driver with blood that made him immune to all known human diseases and was pursued by bad guys who wanted his blood for immortality. Ran two seasons I think.

I always make that mistake. Decent show, tried to get involved for a while but it moved too slow for me. Loved the real life vet care they showed.

Green '73 Pinto Squire Wagon. It's what we got to use in high school and while we lived at home. Say what you want about the engine, I've said it myself, but it was a beautiful car that handled quite nicely and a great hauler. Just couldn't get up hills. Sentimental value. (Disregard the grossly out of scale dude loading that giant car.)

"The Prisoner?"
