  1. Wonderful update Eric. It's gotten to the point now wherein I look at what you're doing currently, go ga-ga over it and immediately wonder..........what's next on your bench. Can't wait to see this one finished and what else you have up your sleeve. btw, that thread you offered of the tech data has the potential to be a real problem for me as I love engines and when I went through and saw the development over the years and the uniqueness and variety of the engines themselves, well I suddenly was picturing how to machine one............I quickly closed the link as I have too much on my plate as is and I dare not even think about it. Thanks for sharing the thread, I've book-marked that one for sure. Good luck as you near the finish line on this one. cheers, tim
  2. Today got the other half of the calipers done and the spacer between them. Now if I could just remember which glue is best for assembling Renshape (DAVE, any suggestion on what you use? If it's CA glue, would it be Loctite OR something like Zap-A-Gap or even a 2 part epoxy?? ) Once I get that figured out I'll assembly and detail them, then paint and a few bolts to finish them. Starting to see a pattern wherein everything I'm doing currently is taking me about 15 to 20 hours to complete. I've just gotta get faster at this. As a reference for size, the longest part of each caliper at the top is 6.0mm........... cheers, tim
  3. Somebody has gotten bit by the machine bug...............bad................. Can't wait to see what's next Paul. cheers, tim
  4. Man are you getting good at that Brad. All the work on your shop diorama (and experience gained) really paid off on the Willy's. Nice job. cheers, tim
  5. Davewilly, thanks man. I gotta get to the other halves tomorrow so I can see how they look. I really want to move onto the front suspension now. Jeff, thanks and also for following along. Randy, appreciated............I keep peeking at the WIP everyday as I just know we're going to get an update from you soon. Always a treat. Dave, thanks sir. You can tell, they're small. Anxious to see some of your rail progress soon as well, your 37' is really coming together btw! Chris, as always appreciated. Did you schedule a time to check out that mill btw? Let me know how you make out. Cheers everyone!
  6. Thank you gentlemen......I moved onto the calipers. These are the first "halves" for the hub side. I machined them from Renshape as I'm going to paint them a custom mix of a magnesium color I came with. Once I get em' painted and assembled I'm pretty certain they'll look pretty cool with hubs and rotors. cheers, tim
  7. Alright Dave, fair is fair. Where are the pics you promised? cheers, tim
  8. Just nasty looking Tyrone in the most complimentary way. cheers, tim
  9. Hi Chris, that last pic really shows the beautiful job you've done, I especially like the drape you got on the looms & wires and the blue color of the wires accentuates the rest of it sublimely. (there's an adjective not used every day) Just superb sir. cheers, tim
  10. Ah Pete, that clutch pedal is from Futurattraction.......I can't & won't take credit for that. It is pretty cool looking. The hubs are done, onto the calipers. cheers, tim
  11. Mike, I ordered a week ago from the new source. The .5mm threaded nuts and bolts in particular. Quite a few I would add. They were shipped and received in less than a week. From that experience, I would say you're good to go. Cheers, Tim
  12. Brad & Dave...thanks guys. Joe, WAY too funny sir. I still laughed when I read it again. thanks ! Paul (mr68gts) this post is a quick THANK YOU for the effort you put forth on the Lenco trans we discussed. As a brief background in 1/25th scale there are resin & kit lenco transmissions available to us. There is a TDR Lenco that is a modern C3 copy. It's nice but I'm building a car from the mid-70's and that trans didn't exist at that time. This is where Paul comes in. He had rendered a really nice 1/16th / 1/12th scale Lenco CS-1, which was the first trans that Lenco introduced specifically for drag racing (my understanding btw) and it's a big larger, heavier and stronger than the C3. Paul can correct me on that if I'm wrong. Anyways, I asked Paul if he'd re-size his CS1 to 1/25th scale for me. He responded and now has it available thru TDR / Shapeways. They arrived last night and I quickly mocked up one. For my particular build I ordered it as a 2 speed with reverse. The material is the Ultra frosted detail and with a little more clean up and drilling out some bolt holes, I have a really nice trans to add to my build. The smaller, primered trans next to the CS1 is the C3 trans as a comparison. Oh, price was $8.25 per trans. Thanks again Paul!!
  13. Man I love that car Bill. I don't know if and how you might get the decals for it, but you might ask John Teresi if he'd paint it for you. Now that would be a challenge even for John I think. Hope to see you move forward with this project. Good luck! tim
  14. Nice mock-up Paul. Your efforts are really starting to show in the progress you're sharing. cheers, tim
  15. Hey guys, I'm sneaking up on it. No studs today as the tedious nature of putting the ribs in has given me pause and to call it a day. More soon. cheers, tim
  16. That would be Chief Joseph right? I've read about his quality on other threads but that is just stunning. In any scale. Nice job detailing it too. cheers, tim
  17. Pete & Paul, yeah because we're nuts. I know I am anyways but I have an idea or 2 on how to shape the back end of the scoop. This little bugger, if I can get it right, will probably be 20 + hours when all is said and done. we'll see. Ray, Dave, Chris, Dave S. & John, thanks for the comments and interest. Today I made some headway on the hubs to go with the rotors. There is a 5 degree taper to the hubs front to back and I cut 12 grooves into the hubs so I can add .4mm nickel silver rod to replicate the raised ribs on the hub. I did a test fit to the wheel centers with only a little tweeking they fitted up properly. I hope to get the ribs and the axle studs installed tomorrow so I can get onto the calipers and their support brackets. Pic one shows the hub on the mill while I'm putting the rib slots in it. When these are done I'll move right onto the front suspension so I can get her on all 4 wheels finally. Cheers, Tim
  18. I can understand why you ditched the stock front clip. Your scratch built clip is looking sharp John. Go find those missing photos now. cheers, tim
  19. Nicely done Mitch. I love the stance on this build. cheers, tim
  20. Thanks so much fellas. I got the remaining tabs on the chassis that I wanted to get on before moving onto the next part. I've gotten a decent start on the hubs, the rotors are done and then I'll get onto the calipers and caliper bracketry. Not ready to post those pics just yet but I took a detour today and fiddled around with making a more accurate Crower blower scoop for the 8 port injection. In the 2 pics you'll see some plastic / resin pieces that I had in the parts box but I wasn't satisfied with their level of accuracy. The brass one I made was my 3rd attempt and I might attempt one more. Mine still needs the back portion formed and soldered on, the 5 ribs on the top of the scoop added and the bottom portion that meets up with the injectors themselves. My plan is make that plate separately after I complete the Crower 8 port injectors. I'll cut out the bottom of the scoop and solder on the matching plate to wrap it up. It's closer I think to the real one and I never realized some of the little styling cues that the real one had until I studied a bunch of photos. The brass one I made by the way was made of special oblong brass stock, then cut at various angles and soldered the 4 different seams together. This kind of stuff is a lot of fun to make and offers a nice break from machining from time to time. cheers, tim
  21. Like those streamliner builds you posted John. I see where you interest in motorcycles comes from now. This build was another Teresi Classic. I'll certainly count this one as one of my favorites. No doubt it will win some awards in the near future. Cheers
  22. Is it fair to ask John, of the models you've built, that you have a favorite or 2? Surely this one would be high on the list. Still loving that paint and the shot of all 4 tires from the back is a giggle all itself. cheers
  23. Whoa Paul, have you looked at R.B. for 1/12th scale bolts in particular? I know you have purchased from him and use his product per your earlier posts? You might also check out www.model-motorcars.com for possible scale hardware solutions. If I can think of anyone else that might be useful, I'll drop you a PM. Looking good too btw!!! cheers, tim
  24. MIchael, I bought a particular body from TDR recently in each of the 2 materials. The Frosted Ultra Detail is the only way to go. Today I primered the body and I can see there is a fair amount of work ahead of me to make it right. The quality has vastly improved with the new material and technology. I'm hopeful that when I sand it down I can get it correct in 2 or 3 primer applications. To do the body mods that this particular body has would take more time I believe than trying to make the TDR body work. I won't know till I get after it which might be a few weeks. If I have anything to share I'll be sure to post my experiences. Hope this helps. Cheers, Tim
