  1. Ya' better be careful Dave or the guys at Precision Chassis are going to start accusing you of stealing parts from the shop. Perfection. cheers, tim
  2. That pic of the car on the dollar bill, with change to spare gives this car a real perspective. No way could I build that small. Nice job Brad. cheers
  3. Pete....Pete...........Pete.......(did I say Pete?) finally, you've posted a build / WIP and I must say I'm NOT disappointed, that's fantastic and I love the subject you're tackling. That turned engine finish is something I'll have to PM you for added info so I might try my hand at replicating that. Everything you're doing is stunning. Count me as a fan too and will be waiting for YOUR future updates. btw, doesn't matter how long it takes if you're willing to do what it takes to make something special like that...........you take all the time you need, we'll be here waiting. cheers, tim
  4. Chris, I actually made up the side helmet bars but after an hour of messing with them, I said enough and stopped for the day and posted these pics. getting them level and lined up properly, even with the gadgets I have to assist, well, it just didn't work the way I wanted. I even did the Clay Kemp "hold it with my fingers" method but that didn't work either. I'll get to them tomorrow perhaps, Monday for sure. They DO complete the look of the cage and I can't wait to get them on. Thanks Dave, after 2 1/2 years of soldering brass, I'm finally getting the hang of it, no cold, ugly joints and no releasing of already completed work. took me long enough huh? Bob & Pete, thanks guys.............and Pete, for me the all true saying of "necessity is the mother of invention" springs to mind. Can't believe I'm still learning stuff every time I sit down at the bench, even at my age. Paul, thanks too, I've gotta run as I've got to jump over to your thread and check out the BEAST.............I must see it in primer, I can only imagine how pleased you must be on how it turned out. Cheers!!
  5. Hey guys, thanks for checking it out. Progress has been made and I'm almost done with the big stuff on the chassis with the exception of the front suspension. Just the helmet side bars and 4 or 5 tiny brackets to put on and now I can finally get to the hubs /brakes. We also had some sunshine today, seems like forever around these parts since we last had any so I took some pics of the chassis progress as of this morning. cheers, tim Please remember the chassis is only 4.5" in overall length. It's not quite the project that Randy's Birdcage is, but it has been testing my abilities.
  6. Niko, I promised to check and I came up empty on that Isky decal for you. Just wanted to let you know. cheers
  7. Great build Niko. I'll check my decal stash to see if I might have a pair of those Isky decal. Beautiful paint too. The polishing job you did really makes it shine. I'll let you know soon. cheers, tim
  8. Nice Dave, what color are you going to paint it btw? cheers
  9. Another great choice for a build John. STILL amazed at the speed & quality of your work. btw, that Trike is something else altogether. Congrats on that build too. cheers
  10. That thing is a BEAST Paul. I can't wait to see pics when it's primered so we can see more of the detail but it sure looks fantastic already. cheers
  11. Thanks for sharing the inspection cover methodology. I see what you did there and it's beautiful in its simplicity. Need I add, the cover is the perfect shape. Now about that "gizmo" you have in the last pic, what the heck is that thing and how do you use it specifically? I'll give you a call to learn more about that bugger. Can't wait to see the result after you've completed it. All looks great Dave!!! cheers, tim
  12. Ahhhh, thanks for the explanation John. Now I know I have NO hope of ever painting anything close to that. Where did you learn to paint like that??? You truly are an artist with an airbrush. Cheers
  13. Many many thanks guys and trust me Mike, oh so human. Sometimes its the little things that take what seems forever. Getting the bottle brackets made, aligned properly and on the chassis was as tedious as I thought it would be. On to a few more bars on the chassis and finally rear brakes & hubs. cheers !! Remembered to put the pull pins on them too for this pic.
  14. Been too long since I checked in John on your progress here. Oh...........My.................Goodness!! The entire trike is fantastic but I'm going to admit once and for all that I think your painting talents are otherwordldly.................yes, that's my description and I'm sticking with it. I just love those colors and how you executed it. One question for you, where you showed the painting of the "raindrops" on the car, it looks as though you have an attachment to your airbrush to achieve it, are my eyes deceiving me or is that something you came up with to achieve the effect?? Love it all dude! cheers, tim
  15. Bob, they're from my parts stash. Not sure who's they might be but I didn't turn em' on the lathe. I bought them 3 or 4 years ago. Thanks Dave for the offer. Hadn't thought about that idea AND it would hide the dirt. Fire bottles are done. Several hours a day over the last week and other than paint & soldering the brackets to the chassis, finished. The yellow cap you see in the background is Tamiyas Camel Yellow which I'll paint them whenever the weather breaks a bit. The small bits of wire with brass collars on the end are the nozzles & lines that will run from the bottles. 1 to the front of the engine, the other to the driver. cheers, tim Pencil for scale reference.
  16. Chris, the book of adjectives has now been depleted. I've petitioned Websters Dictionary to come up with some new ones that we can use for your build. Superb! Tim
  17. Good to know JIm. At this point, I would think any person in business would realize the importance of simple communication with your customer. Not just Clearly Scale. I had the same lack of communication issues with Mark Johnson who also had a good reputation for quality. My simple expectation of ANYONE in business for themselves, hobby or otherwise, is to be respectful of the person willing to spend their money on their service or product. With that in mind, maybe they could simply put on their websites a "Timeline" part on there site wherein they state honestly & accurately their deliverable schedule............something as simple as "now filling orders placed by Dec. 22nd" or whatever. That tells the prospective customer what to expect and will forestall a slew of inquiries about open orders. Transparency and clarity is all we ask which is not unreasonable right? After a month, for a domestic order, one would / should expect shipment and if they can't do that, at least set and then meet the new expectation. My biggest gripe is ignoring the request for shipping updates when it comes to an order that is more than 4 weeks old. Let's hope it all works out right? Resin casters, IN MY OPINION, will have their business model threatened by the growing influence of 3D printed parts and the growth in that industry. Better quality, faster turn around times and more selection will eventually become the new norm and that technology / industry will fill the need for the most part. So much going on in 3D here on this forum right now to ignore. Cheers, Tim
  18. okay Chris, 2 days have gone by now...........where's the next update? come on man, I know you can do it. cheers, tim
  19. Model car porn there Dave. I hear Playboy is looking for some photogs. The pics do the car justice and I appreciate your sharing on how you painted the chassis and mimic'd the welds. Cheers Sir!
  20. hi guys, I'm just beginning on the bottles. Paint showed up today for them & I think when you see the finished pair, you'll like em'.........cheers
  21. Codi

    1928 pickup

Very cool build John. I especially like the wheels. What kit / or who machined them if I may ask? We don't see many pick-ups and this is executed nicely. cheers, tim
  22. As an aside, I placed a small order in Dec. and inquired about status recently. 2 inquiries but no reply as of yet. Used Paypal as an fyi too. If I get an update or order, I'll be sure to post the update.
  23. Thank you gentlemen for your encouraging replies. I did want to let Davewilly know that the steering wheel grips aren't wood. That little experiment failed unfortunately. So today I started more brackets for various sub-assemblies. The 1st one was to route the oil lines from the block to the remote oil filter and the 2nd was the start of the fire bottles. I came across a pic of the Chrismann Sidewinder funny car wherein he put dual bottles vertically alongside the driver in a side by side configuration. I'm always looking for ideas that are a little out of the mainstream and this fit the bill. Still a ways to go on them but it's a reasonable start I think. Virtually every bracket is scratch on the car and even though I use tabs & brackets from DirtModeller and Futurattraction, in too many instances I'm having to make them myself which is time consuming. Onward! cheers, tim This shows the piece after I sweat soldered the base to the bottle rings. This bracket will get soldered to the bottom frame rail. I have a bracket to fab to secure the bottles at the top like the Sidewinder. This pic gives a good idea of the location for the bottles.
  24. Yes Paul, they will be a pain but they sure do look nice. All of the parts. The 4 link brackets really stand out, you did an excellent job rendering them. I'm sure I won't be the only one on the forum looking forward to your updates if you can get them made in PE nickel. I'd order a few sets immediately.........bet you can't wait to get the engine now!! cheers, tim
  25. Quick, someone tell the villagers that the dam has broken and Chris is on his way to finishing this car. Sweet update Chris and well done sir. cheers, tim
