  1. I am going west in 2 weeks , from Indy to denver by car. Are there any good Hobby Shops going west? I'll look if I know where to look.
  2. Bullitt, the original Gone in 60 seconds. The nasty remake has way to much CGI. When Halicki wrecked a car, he wrecked a car. Surprised no one mentions Two Lane Blacktop. Also have to have the Seven Ups. A lot of great car movies, but these are my favorites.
  3. Great for old Super Stock models, and with just a little work, also good for old pavement roundy round models. I'd buy a bunch with no hesitation.
  4. What do you have under the hood? 383 or 440 ? I had a couple friends who ran superstock in the 70's. One had a 440 six pack superbee. The other had a 63 Dodge wagon with an aluminium dog house with a 426 max wedge, with 2 carters , I think. Little foggy on the carters. My dad ran a SS/I duster 340. Always looked at the bees and Chargers as flying boxcars. I just like the old Mopars.
  5. What a collection of cars in Sun City. The Goldenrod, the T-Bird and the Road Runner. If those cars could only talk.
  6. Another racing movie, for once MAYBE they'll get one right. If done right, this will be a great movie.
  7. Boston and Philly, the Black and Blue series.
  8. I'll e there, went to the first one a loooong time ago and missed onl one out of all of them. This is the show that started my addiction. It's right behind the CVS drugstore on the corner. If you are coming from the west on I-70 watch out for the yellow Trans-am, that is a state trooper who is writing a lot of tickets lately.
  9. I'm originally from Boston, when Espo, Orr, and Cheevers played hockey. Didn't like the Habs then, and glad to see them beat now. Way to go Bruins, on to the next round.
  10. I go to Big 4 hobbies in Plainfield Indiana. That is the same reason I don't have a subscription to Model Cars, it gives me areason to go to the hobby shop.
  11. I also know that TRD used the mopar motor for their design. They informed me at the last PRI show at Indy when I asked them. Also if you remember,Bill Davis lost his Mopower deal after they found out. Black helicopters no, but saddling teams with changes for reasons of "competition " are too numerous to mention them all. The one I remember the most is all the aero changes forced on different makes to tighten racing. Spoiler heights were different for each manufacturor until Nascar went to the cookie cutters they run now.
  12. In my family it isn't Hot Rods, it's race cars. I have been fortunate enough to be involved in auto racing almost my entire life. As my sons were growing up I dragged them along for the ride,as my father did me.Now they're all in their 20's , and one of the three is still working on them. This is the car my son , brother, and father worked on last year. If things go good, they'll be running a new car later this season. IMG_4067 copy by uncloose1, on Flickr
  13. Congrats and I have to agree, a lowrider 911 is about as original as it gets.
  14. My prayers are with you, that's some nasty stuff. My son dealt with it off an on for almost a year before he beat it. Fight the fight, and win.
  15. What impresses me is that none of the cars in the yard are rusted out.The paint may be burned off, but no rust. Here in Indiana, after 10 years the car would be a pile of rust . Some guys have all the luck.
  16. A true masterpiece. What is most impressive to me is that the motor actually runs. Beautiful work is an understatement.
  17. I read the posts and I will add my input. 1. Nascar OWNS the Daytona Prototype deal, 24 hours of Daytona and the like. They had good reason to push ALMS to the side.As we all know here NASCRAP isn't much for competition.DP is all spec racers, ALMS has a lot of innovation and is truly an international series. 2. NASCRAP is now on the backside of the curve. Their popularity is waning. The crowds in the stands ,and viewership are both down. The next TV deal won't be nearly as fat as the one they have now. 3. The IRL is now going to try to grab the reins , and make a big splash.Smartest move they've done is to award the USAC driving champion an Indy lights deal.Doesn't seem like much, but when you can see a guy run Indy Friday before the 500, and the Hoosier Hundred Friday night, the short track fans eat it up.They're the ones who but butts in the stands. Start getting people they know at Indy, they'll come to watch their boy, or girl run. 4. When NASCRAP went to the common body template, so long fans. They can't recognize the POS thats on the track, they lose interest. If you want proof, what's happened to NASCRAP model sales, or do they even sell any? I used to enjoy stock cars, and even know a lot of the guys that drive them, but anymore it's just boring. Give me this anytime instead. IMG_0318 copy by uncloose1, on Flickr
  18. There's still some bitterness between those two ,huh. Seems that wold have ended in the early 70's, guess not.
  19. When I was a kid growing up my dad ran a SS/I 70 duster 340. So I too am a MOPAR man. I liked the little motor, but if I was going for a muscle car it would be a HEMI 68 or 69 Barracuda. Nothing like the smell of burning rubber to prove your alive.
  20. That's one nice little hot rod. Great workmanship.
  21. Both sides are right on the Wally World issue. Yeah, they're great prices , but at the cost of the ameriacan jobs that used to make the product here. Cannon towels, Fruit of the loom, etc. It's what I'd call a twin edged sword. If you want one , you can't have the other.
  22. Nice model . It's a shame Kenny never quite caught a break. He was incredible to watch in a sprint car or midget at Winchester, but no luck in NASCAR.
  23. I live in Indy. If you go to any sprint car races, you'll see me there.
