  1. They were ovens on wheels. Those little rockers held in the heat. The open top one would be great.
  2. The one in the truck is a different type of radial.
  3. Keep the narrow tires. That makes it more about the driver. Big gumballs are easy to run on. Narrow ones are a lot harder to run on.
  4. I went to the one on Indy's south side yesterday, nothing.
  5. Here's one at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the first SVRA vintage weekend. This is also a great place to get photos for detail work. IMG 1111 copy par Chris Pedersen, on ipernity
  6. Thanks for the link, and the Bentley really is awesome,Styrene-Surfer is right.
  7. I need one of those manual chainsaws.
  8. Beautiful work and one question. The wheel spats or pants for the front tires, did you make them? I'm doing an old front engine car, and was wondering about them.
  9. Looks an awful lot like an Indy car to me.
  10. Poor guy in the Hellcat a really bad case of Cranium Rectumitis.
  11. Wicked little Nash, great job.
  12. Also remember that those cars were pushing the v8-60 flathead to 200. That motor started out at 156 cubic inches. Talk about horsepower per cubic inch ratio.
  13. Numerous Lance Sellers 1/25 resin Indy car kits at $110 a piece. Most for plastic , $100 for a sealed Hot Shot monogram midget a year ago. Most for large scale ,$50 for a Toro Rosso F1 car, 1/8 Scale off Craigslist. I really want to build the 1/8 car, just need to find space and time.
  14. Me , I'm the opposite of some of the guys here. Danny , with multiple engines is going by sheer brute force. Me, I'm a Speed Demon type of guy, small car , single engine. The different combinations that run the Salt sure make things interesting.
  15. I bought mine after waiting a long time. It's a Chris Etzel Speed Classics Stutz Blackhawk. Simple curbside resin kit, but I've always been fascinated by Frank Lockhart's jewel. When it got re-issued, it's the first thing I bought.
  16. I guess that sailed a long time ago wasn't the SS Lindberg.
  17. What I'd really like to see is that made in America decal placed on EVERY kit round 2 produces.
  18. I bought the dirt tires and wheels, and a Stutz Blackhawk today. The Offy is with the white metal like Chris had. These are beautiful kits, and money well spent. I missed them the first time, I won't this time. What's really neat is that they're packaged like the originals. These guys have big plans , and I hope they work out. If you're an open wheel modeler, this is a great time to be building.
  19. Sorry no photos. I picked up a Stutz Blackhawk Etzel kit (my holy grail) , some Etzel Halibrand dirt wheels and tires, and some old Speed Age magazines. This was at the IPMS show in Indy. American Racing miniatures is doing a great job on the Etzel stuff. I know where I'll be spending more cash.
  20. Fellow Etzel fans, these kits will be available at the IPMS show, in Indianapolis, at Raymond Park Middle School March 15. I can finally get my Holy Grail, Stutz Blackhawk.
  21. If you want an overall driver as best, Foyt or Andretti, sorry European fans. Dirt , Indy, Daytona , 24 hours of Daytona , 24 Hours of Lemans, , all real world conditions. This was AJ. Dirt car Champion, 3 years later Formula 1 champion, Indy, Daytona 500, 12 hours of Sebring,Pikes Peak,, real world conditions. Mario. Of course this is all subjective. The interesting part of Rally Racing is the use of spectators as guardrails. I guess they don't tear up a car as much as real guardrails.
  22. Auto Unions and the Scarab.
  23. Haas is going to find out real quick how much money he REALLY has. If he doesn't have at least $50 million to start with, he won't have enough.
