  1. Contact Ed Fluck of drag city casting. I think he is krassandbernie on here. top quality casting work.
  2. That is most likely a retired funeral flower car. They were loaded up with the flower arrangements for transport to the gravestie during a funeral. Fairly scarce rig. Not many funeral homes had a hearse and a flower car both. Usually built on the same heavy duty chassis as a hearse.
  3. If you have 2 V8 engines and 4 blowers and you are only making 1300 hp, you are not doing something right. Lots of V8 cars around that make 1000+ hp with a single engine and a turbo. There are a couple of 'Vettes that come into our shop that are just over 1000 at the wheels. We also have a Buick Grand National that is a bit over 600 at the wheels and a WRX that is right around the 550 mark. The T pictured has lots of visual impact but from a horsepower point of view, 750 hp (1300hp รท 2 engines) just isnt all that big a number as it used to be. Still a cool car though.
  4. I got some of his wheels and tires for a late 50's build I am working on. Nice stuff. No flash on the wheels and wheel backs with the parts I got. The parts look as good as styrene to me. The tires are also extremely nice with very small mold marks where the resin was injected into the mold. Decals are included for the tire markings. Nice crisp detail on everything. I dont know if he sells anything pre painted or not, I didnt ask. Having seen the examples of his stuff first hand, you will not be disappointed with the quality.
  5. I had called but had not gotten a response back yet when I posted my question. I figured Norm was very possibly busy getting ready for the show. He has since called me back to let me know that he will not be in attendance this year.
  6. Will Norm from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland have a booth at NNL East? I would like to get several things from him but I am the kind of guy that likes to have something in my hands to look at and touch before I buy.
  7. The tailstock is unique for each of the S10/S15 trucks, the Camaro/Firebird, and the Mustangs. The shifter for the S trucks comes out of the tailstock at the very front, just behind the main gear case. The F body shifter comes out of the tailstock at the very rear just above where the driveshaft yoke slips in. The Fox body cars have the shifter come out several inches forward of the Camaro location. I have rebuilt several of each and while similar, they are each unique to the application. I have not had the opportunity to play with a T5 from a T bird so I have no first hand knowledge of the shifter location. Also, the shifter location is different again for each of the Safari/Astro vans and the Isuzu Rodeo T5's. Internally the transmissions are very different depending on application and the engine in front of them. A T5 from an S truck is only good for about 200 ft/lbs of torque and the best of the world class T5's from the Camaros and mustangs (right before GM switched to the T56) was only good for 330 ft/lbs. Even then guys kept breaking them. The T5's were also prone to missed shifts. The factory shifters were about as accurate as stirring a bowl of soup. T5's are notorious for breaking second and third gears when guys beat on them. As I stated above the best of the factory T5's was only good for 330 ft/lbs of torque and a halfway healthy SBC or SBF will easily top that. Even a beefed up T5 with aftermarket internals will get dicey when you get at or above 600 ft/lbs. I have broken the T5 in my Malibu several times through "spirited" driving. That is a big part of the reason that guys started bringing me their broken ones to rebuild - I had gotten good at fixing my own. For a performance T5 the first upgrades should be a good aftermarket shifter, a set of straight cut gears for second and third and a set of billet shift forks. The straight cut gears will howl a bit but are a heck of a lot stronger than the factory gears. The straight cut gears are a big part of the strength and appeal of the legendary M22 "rockcrusher" muncie. When you start pushing the performance levels of a street car it is easier (and cheaper in the long run) to step up to a Tremec or similar if you want a five speed. Or jump to a T56 and get a 6 speed with the double overdrive.
  8. If it has shift rods it cannot be a T5 unless it is an incredibly poor rendition of one. The T5 is an internal rail transmission and has no external shift linkage at all.
  9. kind of funny. The box is marked classic coupes. 32 Ford coupe street rod. last I checked the orange crate is a tudor. good example of the ad copy guy not knowing what the heck he was talking about.
  10. There is a 76 in the shop at my dads. What do you need to know?
  11. Looks great! This was always one of my favorite models when I was a kid. You have done it justice for sure. One small correction. This kit was originally first issued in 63 or 64. It was one of the original Monogram 3 in 1 kits. The tooling has survived very well, considering the number of times it has been reissued over the years. It is kind of a bummer knowing how many or the cool original custom parts and options have disappeared over the years though. Mint unbuilt original kits are worth big money if you can find one. The good news is that this kit has just recently been reissued again. it is blue on the box art but otherwise looks the same as the last (red truck on the box) issue. Plus the newest issue has a new tonnau (?sp) cover included that has not been in the last couple of issues and is different than the cover issued with the original kit.
  12. One of the well stocked hobby shops in Hamilton Ontario had a case. they disappeared within 2 days of them being put on the shelf. Does not seem to me to be an issue getting them in Canada.
  13. If you need or want stock wheels and tires I have a couple of sets extra I would trade for something. nice kit overall. lots of good parts for kitbashing.
  14. If youthink there is a lot of flash on this one, try picking up the hot rod magazine issue of this kit. Some of the sprues look like a thin sheet of yellow plastic with parts embedded in it. the chrome tree was similar, it was like the mold wasnt clamped tightly together. the pics that Jeff posted show a pretty well molded kit for the age and use of the mold. looking forward to getting a couple. like a lot of guys, my first one did not end up built out of the box. mine from when i was a kid has the blown 409 withe the 4 side draft carbs from the amt 57 chevy. Really happy to see this one, the boot hill express, and the mickey thompson challenger reissued. now if they would dig out the molds for the lil coffin and reissue those too.......
  15. Another kudos for Ed and his stuff. The interior that he did for the new olds fits like kit parts. His stuff is great.
  16. Jus completed trades with brodie_83, IMSANUT and Sam I am. Everything was smooth and easy on my end. Hopefully they felt the same. I would trade with any of them again no question.
  17. That is really cool. would it be difficult to print one of these in 1/8 scale? I have visions of one in a big deuce.
  18. What is your website address? I would like to check out what else you have too.
  19. Holy smokes! Just came across this build tonight. Excellent scratchbuilding skills. Awesome subject matter. Much better than a run of the mill muscle car or street rod. Great pics too.
  20. That looks great! did you scratch build the tonneau cover or is it included in one of the older issues of this kit?
  21. I ended up having to work so I could not go this time. When is the next meeting, I hope to be able to go to that one.
  22. I will try to make it to the april meeting as well. I have known Randy for a long time, he is a great guy and a talented modeler as well.
  23. This was the last one, T's and A's. it ended last may first. You missed that one by a few days. However, the custom build off is happening right now. you might be a little bit behind the curve but it ends on may 31st. they extended the deadline due to pretty much everybody having issues. Check the link out. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=15135
  24. Kit bashed a traditional hot rod for the last HAMB build off, thought you guys might like to see it. Pretty much the only monogram parts are the body and floorpan. the chassis and engine are from the revell rat rod kit and the wheels and tires are from the 1950 ford truck kit. Had to scratch in the rear fender wells, the monogram kit did not have any. Also added the body lines to the rear wells. included is a shot of the rear wells on my 1:1 project A coupe. Here is the pics.
