Notice the twist in the body and the amount of air under the right front tire! I’ll fix it one day…..maybe
-
I’ll happily display it once I find a replacement chassis. Kit part is warped beyond imagination. In fact, there are a number of large parts that just don’t fit to my satisfaction.
-
Not from the kit. I found them in my 50 year collection of wheels. Sorry, I don’t recall where they came from.

Definitely my most challenging BMF project to date. My eyesight and nerves will never be the same after this one! I didn't realize how badly the chassis was warped until final assembly. If you build one of these, make sure to test fit everything before you try to make it pretty! This truck was going to be a push truck for a fuel dragster. The front push bar never happened. This truck is also proof that I build subjects other than Mopars!

Well done! I'm inspired to build a ramp truck with a cab like that. -
Yes it was a 440. Solid 15 second quarter miles! HOWEVER…..the car was deadly consistent and I won over 20 final rounds in 1976. I literally got banned from NY National Speedway for winning too much ( not kidding).

"Built to fit into the old SS/BA class. I know the Hemi Cudas were '68s. " Easy fix. Put in A/Modified Production! no one will question that! I love the tail light conversion! WF

Looks great! I can only imagine what mine would have looked like as built by a 13 year old me. Probably an accurate collection of glue induced finger prints all over that nice, clear body! ?

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments. This kit was not readily available when I wanted to build a replica of my '74. I paid a great deal of money to buy a kit that I found on line (Of course, the kit was re-released about a month after I paid dearly for one). You can imagine my disappointment upon opening the kit box to find the roof caved in, the single exhaust chassis with catalytic converter, a Dodge Coronet dashboard and no stripes! I was pissed off to say the least. Keith Marks solved the decal problem, an AMT chassis took care of the garbage chassis and engine and by the time I fixed the roof with hot water, the re-released kits were on the shelf and I got the correct dash. I made the instrument cluster. Copied a photo of the cluster and reduced it to size, printed it and cut it out. Covered it with a piece of clear acetate. Very easy to do.

Not much of a story for this one. It was one of the last models that I built before taking a 6 year hiatus from the hobby in 2017. It was for a Jersey Shore MCC theme contest. The theme was ...convertibles. I had some left over AMT road runner and GTX parts in a box, so I put this together. I recently found some unseen photos of the car.

Definitely gives that '50s magazine look! Super cool!

This car represents a time before wheelie bars, it was also a time before guard walls!
-
Some people might argue that!?
-
Thank you! I didn't mention that the decals were not from the kit. Decals were from Keith Marks.

I've built a few replicas of cars that i own or have owned in the past. This one is a tribute to my favorite car of all. Plenty of good memories with this car. I bought it in early 1975 for a very good price as the gas crisis scared the original owner! MPC kit with a AMT chassis. The kit chassis is garbage ?.

Well done replica! Nice job.

I built this for a friend of mine quite a few year ago. Not a lot of detail because it was intended as a shelf model. I hope that he still has it. 440 6bbl with a stick.
-
Really nice paint on that one.
-
The completed car! I'm sure it would have been a real handful to drive! I know that I wouldn't get in it! Still needs some traction bars but I'll get to that. It's pretty much done.

The scoop, blower and the valve covers are all cast metal. They were actually intended to be jewelry! I only wish that i had bought more when I had the chance.
-
The headers that I originally intended to use were ok but a bit small in diameter so I made my own . I think that the "bologna" slice is a nice touch.

Thanks, If I decide to make the deck lid removeable, a panel would be in order.

Sorry for the blurry picture. Front shocks were scratch built from aluminum tubing. I even made rubber bushings.
