Thanks to everyone for the nice comments. This kit was not readily available when I wanted to build a replica of my '74. I paid a great deal of money to buy a kit that I found on line (Of course, the kit was re-released about a month after I paid dearly for one). You can imagine my disappointment upon opening the kit box to find the roof caved in, the single exhaust chassis with catalytic converter, a Dodge Coronet dashboard and no stripes! I was pissed off to say the least. Keith Marks solved the decal problem, an AMT chassis took care of the garbage chassis and engine and by the time I fixed the roof with hot water, the re-released kits were on the shelf and I got the correct dash. I made the instrument cluster. Copied a photo of the cluster and reduced it to size, printed it and cut it out. Covered it with a piece of clear acetate. Very easy to do.

Not much of a story for this one. It was one of the last models that I built before taking a 6 year hiatus from the hobby in 2017. It was for a Jersey Shore MCC theme contest. The theme was ...convertibles. I had some left over AMT road runner and GTX parts in a box, so I put this together. I recently found some unseen photos of the car.

Definitely gives that '50s magazine look! Super cool!

This car represents a time before wheelie bars, it was also a time before guard walls!
-
Some people might argue that!?

Thank you! I didn't mention that the decals were not from the kit. Decals were from Keith Marks.

I've built a few replicas of cars that i own or have owned in the past. This one is a tribute to my favorite car of all. Plenty of good memories with this car. I bought it in early 1975 for a very good price as the gas crisis scared the original owner! MPC kit with a AMT chassis. The kit chassis is garbage ?.

Well done replica! Nice job.

I built this for a friend of mine quite a few year ago. Not a lot of detail because it was intended as a shelf model. I hope that he still has it. 440 6bbl with a stick.

Really nice paint on that one.

The completed car! I'm sure it would have been a real handful to drive! I know that I wouldn't get in it! Still needs some traction bars but I'll get to that. It's pretty much done.

The scoop, blower and the valve covers are all cast metal. They were actually intended to be jewelry! I only wish that i had bought more when I had the chance.
-
The headers that I originally intended to use were ok but a bit small in diameter so I made my own . I think that the "bologna" slice is a nice touch.

Thanks, If I decide to make the deck lid removeable, a panel would be in order.

Sorry for the blurry picture. Front shocks were scratch built from aluminum tubing. I even made rubber bushings.

I didn't go too crazy wit the interior because I don't think it will be able to be seen with the body on the car. WF
-
I picked that body up so long ago at NNL East. Sorry, but I have no recollection of who made it. It is very nicely cast. You would swear that it is styrene. WF

Such a cool car! I have no idea how many of those kits that I've scavenged parts from. Strangely, I have never built the intended version.

Amazing replica! This truly needs to be put in a museum!

Everything looks very well done. I did notice that the exhaust manifolds that you are using are for a 440 or 383. The exhaust ports on a HEMI are not paired on the middle cylinders.

I meant to say that notifications show comments from other members

Yes, but my notifications show that there have been numerous, replies that don’t show up in the thread. WF

That is a good lookin' car! If realism is what we are after ... you nailed it.
