  1. Although I did find some pics of a silver '69 GTX with a red interior it was not a vert. I'm guessing that red vinyl would fade horribly in the sun and the most likely reason it was not available.
  2. One thing that bothers the heck out of me with the AMT B bodies is the poorly designed 1/4 panels and wheel openings. Johan got it right. Recently picked up a built, Johan '69 runner. The "builder" must have used an entire tube of glue to install the glass. Roof is junk. I'm going to cut it off and build another convertible. Did Johan ever make any convertible B Bodies? WF
  3. I am not a real fan of convertibles but I had this kit laying around for about 25 years {?} and our club (Jersey Shore MCC) had a convertible theme for our quarterly contest. So.........I did something with it! I was very close to completing the car for the contest with a day to spare when I realized that I had lost (or used) the grille and tail lights! Thanks to the Model King for helping me with those parts! When you build a convertible you really have to make the interior pop. Added floor mats, wood grain dash & console, seat belts, and a photo reduced instrument cluster. The End! Yes, I left the trunk bezel off because it didn't fit well and just looked like...... It was nice to build a car for once that didn't require saws and bondo! WF

Last one that I built, I cut the inner fenders out and rebuilt them with sheet plastic! Tell us about the car in your sig. pic. I think I may have built a model of it.
  5. Brings new meaning to the word "slammed"!
  6. Being the owner of an actual A 12 road runner, I can appreciate the detail work that you put into this one. Nice!
  7. This car just exudes cool!

Terrific looking bird! Color, foil, wheels and tires all look great! I have love / hate feelings towards this kit. Love the body. The dimensions are spot on. I hate the engine compartment. Monogram typically drops the ball on under hood and chassis details. They look great on the shelf though! WF
  9. I think its a great idea, Gonna try it.
  10. Very cool truck! Maybe some detailing or a wash on the wheels! Too clean!
  11. You did a great job putting that 'cuda together! Engine compartment is well done. Looks like you had problems with that lower radiator hose. I did too!
  12. Well done! Super clean! WF
  13. Nothing like a red hot rod with Cragars! Nice job!
  14. I like it! Well assembled and clean! What did you use to wrap the roll bar? WF

    68 vette

You did a terrific job on that one! Very clean.
  16. Great job! It was worth all of the time invested!
  17. I did a play on the " Funny Gremlin" name. Decals were ink jet printed.
  18. Stars and stripes
  19. I'm pretty sure that the grille came from the funny car kit as that kit was in my "pile of parts" that included the Funny Gremlin decals.
  20. One of the Jersey shore model car club members gave me a body and some parts so I don't know where the grill originated
  21. Thank you all! Paint! AMCs have to be red, white, and blue, right?
  22. Top notch! The paint looks perfect for a car like this and the tin work is terrific! WF
  23. Experimented with rivets. Drilled out all the rivet marks on the engine cover and pushed .035 rod through, sanded them down, and painted the engine cover gloss aluminum. Next, I painted the cover with clear red to simulated anodizing. Finally, I carefully removed the paint above the rivet heads. A lot of work! Fuel injection system was plumbed and ignition wires and boots installed. WF
  24. Great car! Great story! Isn't it cool that we can now build replicas of the cars that made such an impression on us? I too was 13 when I made my first trip to the drags. I don't remember much about that summer of '69 but that day at National Speedway is etched in my mind! WF
  25. It took a lot of filing and sanding but I got it to look ok to my eyes. Engine is tight in the chassis! Just for fun, I made my own coil over shocks using red wire.
