  1. Thank you sflam123. Trying my best. Here is the start of the turbine detail.
  2. Yup. Usually can not afford all of these but the price is good. He has all the 1/20 tamiya f1 kits also. I’m picking those up in two weeks.
  3. The seat was sanded smooth with the help of a little putty. Looks a little better. Aftermarket seat belts will be added. After paint. Slowly comming along.
  4. Really beautiful!!!!
  5. Does this count? I have one of these also
  6. James May had a piece on airfix. James May Toy Stories. You will see the typical look on young faces. Not interested. He was trying to get the kids into modeling. He gave a brief history of airfix and one young girl said “is he mental?” There was one boy who was interested in the hobby. Out of maybe 25. I’m 63 and getting ready to retire. There is a young man at work that wants to restore a camaro. I said great! Then he said a 1986 z28. Well my thoughts were a 67-70. My idea of a restoration project is a 67-70, not a 86. So here the gap continues, what I think is cool and what he thought was cool are different. So what we think is cool, maybe it’s not so cool in younger eyes. Didn’t you think something was cool and your dad had other ideas.? I thought the kids were a little crazy. So i bought a 1985 Honda crx si. Restored the car. 91 hp and 38 mpg. It’s a great car. But I also have a 2005 corvette. Honestly I like driving my Honda. More than my corvette. It’s just more fun with less money. Are the kids crazy? I do not think so. Anyways I do not think the hobby is going to go completely away, it’s going to adapt to sales. This is a great debate !!!! P. S. Jay Leno drag race between him and Tim Allen. Tim had a 1967 GTO, and Jay had a new Nissan Altima. Jay blew off Tim in the GTO, my heart sank and then realized maybe I am getting old.
  7. Starting to add a little color.
  8. Had to remake the upper rear crossmember. This also bothered me. This is what was done to correct it.
  9. Thank you bobthehobbyguy. The engine is comming. A little more convincing . A little paint and detail and it will work. Have to thin the exhaust. Was real thick.
  10. Batteries in the front will work out.
  11. The turbine really bothered me. Have to make it a little more realistic. Going to wing this and talk to my fighter aircraft modeler friend Steve to see how I am going to achieve a better engine.
  12. Thank you Rich. The lower control arms , front and rear were short plastic. Had to add some evergreen to complete the arms. Have to sand the steering linkage to fit. Do not be afraid to modify as needed. This is NOT a tamiya kit. You have to make things fit. Add plastic, take off plastic, fight plastic etc. hope this helps.
  13. Thank you Ralph. A aircraft modeler told me about indycals. He is building the bigger scale 1967 turbine car.
  14. Getting the foot well and front suspension plate to fit is work. Have to sand to get the nose section to fit. Batteries have to fit in the nose section. Going to be fun to fit the steering arms and front differential. A lot goes on there. The seat is a piece of work. Really needs improvement. You really have to work on the fit.
  15. WOW!!!
  16. Man I thought it was a real car! Great job!!!!
  17. Great job! I have this kit and it does not look very friendly to build. You did a fantastic job on a hard kit.
  18. Man that’s a very cool and great build!!!!!
  19. Not done yet but did paint my turbine car. It’s the brightest model in my collection.
  20. Thank you drodg . Yes the kit has the tractor.
  21. Fitting the suspension. Getting the turbine ready for paint and detail. No plug wires here. As you notice I made the front nose section like the real car. I finally figured out how I am going to mount it. Will show later how that works. Batteries hang out front in the nose section. Think about it, if you had a front crash battery acid would be everywhere. Here is what I have so far.
  22. Thank you guys very much! I like this build because it is different. Ok this is what I did for the paint. My first round was a disaster. Model master paint and it cracked real bad. Probably my fault , too much to soon and the temp was 95. I stripped the body. Soo I did a experiment. I used one shot striping enamel. I primed it. Sanded the primer with grey sanding pad. Mixed one shot with enamel reducer. 1 to 1. Let it dry for a week. Then shot the body with hpc15 urethane clear from sherwin Williams. It is very thin. This clear is is becoming very hard to get in small amounts. For some reason they now, only sell in large amounts only. Going to have to change clear as I cannot afford large orders. Use safety equipment!!! I also use a sata minijet spray gun. .8 tip. After clear I put the decals on. Indycal has great decals and resin tires ! Really improves the build. I then recleared the body. The decals stayed down. Hope this helps.
  23. Fitting the turbine . Casting is a little rough, but overall things fit without major problems.
  24. Shoopdog the story was told like this: Andy Granatelli was approached by American gas company to put their stickers on the car. As you know Joe Put the car on the pole. Well Andy recieved $100,000 to run American gas company fuel. No testing or anything. So the fuel was changed overnight. The cars lost 100 hp. The offys had 650 hp and the turbine cars were 100 hp less with the new fuel. Why it was not tested really made Joe mad. Well the offys just walked all over the turbines. Graham Hill crashed his turbine, and with less than 10 laps left Joes car came to a halt. And guess what, Art Pollards car came to a halt right after that. And Bobby Unser won the race. The problem with the turbine car? Both fuel pumps went out because of the new gas. He told that story right before he died.
