Fireball Modelworks!

His decal printing on his Alps is also top notch. Send him a vector based file on his template and you'll be amazed. -
Holy geez Tim. Impressive, very impressive. And to think you're doing this without any aid from a computer.

Computer troubles again!
gasser59 replied to oldcarfan's topic in Forum News and Questions (formerly: How To Use This Board)
I have this problem occasionally and another that is similar to this. I can't seem to add a comment on the bottom of a thread. The reply window is there but I can't get the cursor to show up in the reply area. I'm using a MacBook Pro laptop and iMac desktop using Firefox on both. I can go in with Safari as my browser and that works but not Firefox. -
'41 Willys Pickup Gasser circa late '60s - Finished

Thanks Kerry. The ride height is what drew me to build this, had to be up in the air. Got a bit done over the weekend including the rest of the fuel lines, fuel pump and gas tank. Engine is glued in with telescoping drive shaft in place. I put a piece of aluminum printing plate over the frame where the as tank is and riveted it in. Still need to connect the fuel line to the tank but that's a minor detail. Need to run the return line from the fuel distribution block in front of the injectors. Here's a few pictures including one showing the stance. More this week, stay tuned. -
No other problems noted with the Slingster. As you know, this kits has other buyuild options so I can't speak for those but if they go together anything like the Slingster, should be without problems. Thanks for the comments guys.

Here's a couple pictures of the brakes. They're PE discs and the calipers are metal. I can't remember the brand here at work. I took a bunch of pictures but this camera doesn't do close-ups very well. -

Chris isn't using the kit decals, he's using the ones I did for this build. Not sure why he's having issues. -
Beautimous Tim. Each update makes me drool more than the last.

I was finally able to spend some time on this ancient build. Got the disk brakes on the rear long with the wheel backs and the rest of the paint off of the cab. The truck bed is still sitting in the purple pond. I'll give it a good scrub tonight and post some pics. -

Sorry to hear of your non-building funk. I too have been having the same issue. Must be the heat along with the humidity. Glad to see you're still fabricating. Those jig bases are perfect. -
'34 Ford Early Altered - 1/16th Scale

I keep pulling this out of the box and looking over the parts and then put it right back in the box. I've done this about four times. -

I pulled this build back out of storage several months ago and shot it light blue with a rattle can. It looked terrible so into the purple pond it went. The paint on the resin cab came right off, the truck bed is a different story and its still in the pond and is slowly, very slowly, taking off the paint. This was getting so close to completion, I need to finish this. -
Now that is stunning...well, everything you manufacture is stunning. This is no exception.

One of the other things I changed was I added two frame pieces as indicated in the photo. The frame came up at a weird angle for building a different version of the kit and it just looked too funny ending so abruptly that I had to fix it. I used a stretched rollbar piece from the kit for a different build selection so it DID come in the box.

Thanks Randy. It was a fun and quick build. Kit had a few issues like the steering arm hits the exhaust and the two firewalls were supposed to be glued to the outside of each of the bodies. It took a bit of sanding but I didn't want the seams to show. Thanks ACE. The color is Tamiya Camel Yellow. I really like this color and will use it again on something else. I suppose I could have tried a smaller steering wheel so the driver would have worked but I had to keep it box stock for the Builder's Challenge. Once the driver was assembled, it was tough to get him in between the frame rails, over the differential and around the brake handler and reservoir. By painting him with acrylic paint, it kept scratching off. I finally had had enough.
-
Well, the driver wouldn't fit and still have a steering wheel so he had to go. Have to have a steering wheel. Found some other decals I had and put them on. At this point, I'm calling it done. Thanks for following along.
-
Thanks Trent. The distributor is next on the list to get completed and it was a challenge not to wire the plugs at least.

The Straight Line Modelers are doing an out of box build challenge with the only allowed changes being wheels, tires, paint and decals. I decided to do the Slingster since it has alot of build options and it was nearly the only kit in my stash that hadn't been robbed of enough parts to build something worthwhile. The deadline is next weekend so I need to get the decals made up and off to the printer so they'll be back in time. Still a few minor things to do yet besides the decals. Sorry for the picture quality, my phone doesn't take the best pictures.

I have met both of these guys in person and have the utmost respect for both of them. I know Mark gets overwhelmed with orders, he's a perfectionist and a one man operation. It drives him crazy to not be able to fulfill orders so he doesn't take more orders until he can fill the ones he has. His stuff is the BEST quality out there for 1/16th scale and I will not hesitate to order from him again.

Ditto times 4.

Any new developments on this or do you consider it finished? Just in case you were wondering, I don't consider it finished. I want to see more of your incredible work.
-
Do you have plans for cutting a gasket for under the oil pan and the valley cover? Seems like it would be fairly easy to do with your skills. I think the most challenging part would be finding the right material to use.
-
More drool needed.
-
Dang Tim, that's purdy. So just how long did it take you? Now you'll need to drill the corresponding holes in the bottom of the block or will you just be using the bolt heads?
-
Any more progress on this one Robert??
