  1. Nice job Chuck!
  2. The crowd in the stands seem to be loving it! I like it a lot. It looks like a real aluminum body and I really like the fuel tank, great job all around. Edit: I guess it is a real aluminum body. I had to look at this one twice.
  3. I like the Black Widow '26 Model T pickup also. http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/featuredvehicles/0909rc_1926_ford_roadster_pickup_black_widow/photo_02.html
  4. I agree with this one over and over and over.........
  5. Congrats on a great model and a great career.
  6. When you attach a famous actor's name to it, and call in an original, they might pay any price it takes. The point I was trying to make is that Herbie has been duplicated many times over and so has the Easy Rider Harley. Without the formal documentation, (serial numbers, papers, bill of sale), where is the value? The original Dukes car went for a bucket full of money restored from scrap because, it was documented original. How much of it was original? I don't get that either. Another one, The Batmobile, how many were there? They all get a fair price between the buyer and seller I guess. You could say some people just have way too much money maybe? End of rant. Yeah, I'm a Bug junkie but, with no money. I will stick to building scale models for now. And I would like to finish the 1;1 in my garage some day. Here's a nice Herbie on ebay right now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volkswagen-Beetle-Classic-coupe-One-of-A-Kind-Herbie-The-Love-Bug-/201191064113?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2ed7ec0231&item=201191064113&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
  7. This would almost be like buying Herbie the Love Bug.
  8. I love this thread! I have been giving this subject a lot more thought lately. Other people's cars that influenced me the most, in 1962 when I was 12 years old my friend had three older brothers with neat cars. We hung around the big garage watching the cars get worked on. One brother had a '50 Chevy coupe, metallic blue with tuck and rolled blue and white interior. It had a new at the time, 327 engine and 4-speed. I remember watching him change the rear end to a 4:11 posi. and under the car was painted as nice as the top. We always would try to get a ride in any of their cars, including a '55 Chevy with a genuine panic button and an early '63 Ford with a 390. The '50 won me over with an invitation to the local drag strip to watch it race. My first introduction also to cheater slicks. Another time we watched him make custom headers that came out the sides of the front fenders. This was seriously turning it to be an all out race car! I was hooked!
  9. "This bike would be so easy to replicate," was my first thought. Looks like that is what they did. Just shows how putting a name in the equation changes the value. Did anyone ever think of serial numbers? They are clearly marked on the side of any Harley engine.
  10. Beautiful model and beautiful pictures. By the way, my Hudson is in that magazine along with the others. Yours could have been if you would have built it sooner. Nice job and especially on the foil work. Whoops, mine was in issue 172, I got a little excited when I saw the Hudson on the cover. What I was saying is I think yours is good enough to be in the magazine, very high quality and I love your photos.
  11. Looks nice! Would like to see more pictures. Nice paint and wheels.
  12. I like it a lot but, unfortunately will never buy one on my tight budget. I have always thought of the Miata as a modern day version of a MGB. My wife has a last year production '80 1/2 MGB, I would trade it! There have always been new car styles I hate and they eventually grow on me, sometimes anyway.
  13. Neat idea on the un-chopped top. Fine detail all around. The engine detail is amazing.
  14. WOW nice!!! Every detail! You went way beyond what AMT had to offer. I love it!!!!
  15. '55 Chevy, my first car, learned to drive in it. '67 VW, my first really cheap car to drive, drove it everywhere and never got a speeding ticket. '37 Ford Coupe, my first real collector car, started my passion for flathead engines.
  16. Nice job, I love it!
  17. Looking good!
  18. What they all said. Great build!
  19. The foil work for me is almost as much effort as building the model in the first place. I have used the silver sharpie and a thing called Prismacolor , art marker from Hobby Lobby. Do it over clear and then add clear over for best results. You can always foil over this when your skill level increases. Harry is right about practicing on an old body. After I finished a Revell snap '57 Chevy, a lot of foil, I felt more confident. I still use the Prismacolor pen sometimes. Your GTO looks great, not a big fan of the high rake but, I do remember when!
  20. Nice photos! They look like the real thing, very clever.
  21. Whoops, after examining my '57 T bird I noticed a difference. The distributor is in the rear of the engine on the '57. I'm no expert when it comes to Ford engines. I will say it was a little bit of a tight fit on the firewall of the '32 as you can see. I should have recessed the firewall maybe? The air cleaner is actually touching. Most of the AMT engines are interchangeable with a little tweaking. The one that gets me the most is the small block Chevy on the '32 5-window. For years I had no idea what engine that was suppose to be. I also never knew that was a 427 Ford on the Phaeton. The transmissions are all pretty much just a little box kind of like an early Ford.
  22. If I'm not mistaking, the '34 Ford pickup, originally AMT and later Lindberg, had the same chrome plated Ford engine as the AMT '57 T Bird. Also included was a great flathead engine. Here is the T Bird engine in a '32 Ford Roadster I built.
  23. Nice Ron, I like the two-tone. A little early for Santa though.
  24. Looks good! I built one years ago and had it hanging on the wall vertical from the hole in the bottom. Started the full detail kit turning it into a dry lakes racer with a Hemi in the back. It went to the shelf of doom and later got traded.
