  1. At 56 years old, I remeber when kits were $1.25 - $2.00 each. Of course my job at that time paid a whopping $1.50 per hour and gas was going through the ceiling at .50 cents per gallon. Those days are gone. I'm like everyone else, I work hard for my money and don't like paying the hobby shop prices, but they only sell at the suggested selling price of the manufactures. I have a couple Hobbytown USA stores in my area with convient hours and a pretty good stock on hand. I try to buy as much from them as I can to help support the hobby. If we lose the hobby shops, what do you do on Saturday afternoon when you spill your bottle of liquid cement and are a few minutes from finishing your project? If ther are no hobby shops, you go on line order a bottle pay shipping cost and wait a week. All I'm trying to say is I've seen to many of our local hobby shops close in the last 10-15 years beacause modelers, in hope of saving a couple bucks go online and order thier kits. In defense of the model companies, with the hobby slowing down, they're producing fewer kits so to keep up with the rising cost of doing business and trying to save the hobby we all love so much and the rising cost of fuel, they have to charge higher prices. Long story short, nobody likes the high cost of kits today, but it happens. Also remember the detail and quality of the NEW releases as well as the OLD reissues, the cost isn't all that bad. I don't buy as many kits as I did years ago, but I enjoy them as much as i ever did. Take the time to enjoy what you build and the model companies for trying to save this hobby!!! Happy modeiling to all. Vernon
  2. Got mine in the mail yesterday, FANTASTIC!!! I'll be ordering more. Vernon
  3. Check ebay rdsxfan2 offers them from time to time. Everytime I bid on one I get beat. Oh well, one day I'll get one. By the rdsxfan2 offers some great products and excellent casting. Good luck, Vernon
  4. Hey Brett...Nice job!!!! These kits are fun to build and look very nice. Keep up the great work! Vernon
  5. 1971....I had a 1971 Charger R/T 440 sixpack, slapstick, air grabber hood and front & rear spoilers..Red with black interior. I bought the car in 1974 and kept it till 1983 when I decided to try stock car racing. The racing thing was very short lived and regreted selling the Charger ever since. In my heart the 1971 will always be my favorite, but love all from 1966 - 1974. Vernon
  6. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.....Love everyone one of them, especialy the white 1971 Charger R/T. I bought one of these back in 1973. Mine was a 440 sixpack with the air grabber hood, front & rear spoilers and the slap stick shifter. I can never see too many of these old Mopars, Thanks for sharing your pictures. Vernon
  7. Great looking build John. I love seeing any open wheel cars in this forum, especially Indy. I've built a few of the Revell Reynards and enjoyed building each of them. It would be nice to see Revell reissue these great kits . At the price I've seen them go for ebay I think theres still some interest in them. Keep up the great work, it sure looks good.
  8. My best purchase was an original Monogran, Hotwheels Snake and Mongoose funny cars (open but MINT). I paid twenty each. The second best, is not a purchase, but joining this forum. I can't begin to count how many times the forum members have helped me out, with modeling information as well as how to get in touch with vendors. Hats off to this site and all the members Vernon
  9. Hey Chuck, Keep us posted on this build. I'm anxious to see the finished product. It looks right on the money so far! Vern
  10. Very Nice. Nice clean work, Beautiful paint jobs. With a little work these kits look pretty good and are fun to build. I have a few of them started which will include a couple Charger. Toyota & Fusion conversions. Love those powerslide decals. Keep up the great work. Vernon
  11. sweet, this was one of my all-time favorite pro stocks. nice job.
  12. The last of the natural born drivers, truley a legend. I had the chance to meet him and get his autograph. He was a very humble, down to earth person, and will be missed. My prayers go out to his family. GOD SPEED DICK TRICKLE.
  13. Thanks for the info Casey. I picked up one of the (original) Sand Crab kits at a yard sale about two years ago but haven't started it yet. The only bad part in the kit is the deacls show thier age and a slight mark on the clear green roof cover. The box is in pretty good shape given it's age. I do plan on starting on this kit in the near future. Vernon
  14. Hello Richard....I'll be priming the body this weekend and hopefully painting the inside of the body, chassis and interior tub. It's still a little way from being finished but she's getting there. I just recieved the Donohue decals from Pattos Place and they look fantastic. Many thanks to the members that helped me get in touch with Patto. What a fantastic website. I'll try to post pictures when its complete. Happy modeling, Vernon
  15. Thank you Revell. This is a fantastic line-up and will take care of my spare change for a while. Maybe one day we can convince Revell to reissue the 1969 Sand Crab dune buggy kit. I always thought it was just cool. Thanks again to Revell and Round 2 for all they do for us modelers. Keep up the great work. Vernon
  16. Keep the forum alive.....Everyone I've met on here have all been very helpful when I've had questions or in search of model parts or information. Sure, like eveything in life there's always a few bad apples, but I feel for the most part this forum is FANTASTIC !!!!!! i also love seeing in finished builds and in progress kits. Thanks to the great people at Model Car Magazine, all of it's loyal and helpful readers and all the model companies for keeping this rare hobby alive. Vernon
  17. Fantastic...What a great release. Ronud 2 is really taking care of my spare lunch money. Oh well, I need to lose some weight anyhow. Bring on the Pro-Stocks.
  18. Great looking project Bill, Please keep us informed of your progress. Vernon
  19. Many thanks to all that responded, all this info will be a big help. Because this kit is so rare I plan to build it mostly box stock with the exception of opening the wheel openings a little and updated minilite wheels as well as tires from the Greenwood Corvette. I'll try and post some picture after it's finished. By the way, I'm still looking for some Donohue decals as the kit decals show thier age. Thanks again for all your help, Vernon
  20. Hello Jim....Thats what I thought, just needed to know for sure......Thank you, you're a life saver. Vernon
  21. Would anyone out there have any pictures or know what color the engine was in Mark Donohue's 1971 AMC Javelin. I've found a lot pictures of the car on google, but not a lot of the engine. I'm thinking the engine was either grey or maybe silver. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Vernon
  22. Hello Daniel...Sharp build....I am definetly going to have to search for one of these kits.
  23. SWEET...Looks very sharp.
  24. Hello Daniel....Many thanks. I've been building models for about 40 years now and don't believe I ever saw this kit before. Thanks again, Vernon
