  1. Jason, your Daytona is looking great, keep us posted. Can you tell me where you go the conversion kit from? Thanks, Vernon
  2. Tommy, I gotta ask the obvious question. What flavor Ice Cream is that??? Just kidding, great looking build. Tim was truley one of the greats that never had chance to really prove himself, what a loss. Great looking build, keep up the great work. Vernon
  3. What a save, from junk to show car. Fantastic save. Most people would have thrown away. Nice job!!!! Vernon
  4. Hello Rich....you can use a sheet of clear plastic (available at most hobby shops), start by laying masking tape over the window openings, then use a pen or sharpie to trace your outline, then lay the tape on the clear plastic and cut to shape. I always cut the outline a little larger to allow for mistakes. There also several of these kits available on e-bay starting as low as $3.00. Good luck, Vernon
  5. I bought seven of these kits and only had one with a warpped frame. As I've done in the past I went to Round2's website and printed the replacement form and sent all the information they need. I should have my replacement frame in a few weeks. Round 2 has been very helpfull in suppling replacement parts in the past. Give this a try, the other option Round 2 will suggest is to return to the seller for a replacement. Personall I find it easier to go through Round2. Good luck, and Happy Modeling Vernon
  6. Sounds familier Chris. I have a few of those projects going right now. I took a break from a couple of those to build a 2012 Danica Patrick "Go Daddy.Com" Impala (box stock). I say box stock, but I added a few of the missing roll bars and an updated nose clip. I should have the body painted this weekend, and will try to post some pics later on. Hope we see some pictures of your build. Happy Modeling, Vernon
  7. Hello Bob....Picked up a can of Krylon# 3106 green this weekend and agree, this is a near perfect match. Thanks for the tip. Vernom
  8. Great idea, nice build!!!!!
  9. I saw this car run once, I think at the (old) Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Va. back around 1982. I'll take a look at home (over the weekend) and see if I have any photos of the car. Being a Petty fan, I'm sure I do. I think Kyle drove it that day. If I do I'll be glad to post a copy.
  10. Stefan, What a cool website, brings back some good memories. I'm still researching the hose question. If I find anything I'll let you know, if you find anything let me know. Have a great day & Happy Modeling. Vernon
  11. Sjoberg...You've got me wondering now. I'm 99 percent sure the used rubber through the late 1970's. I'll do some research on this, as I too am getting ready to start work on a 1973 Petty Charger (1/16th scale). By the way, I love the website you attached to your post. Vernon
  12. Hello Chris....The pictures Tommy posted are absolutly correct. You can use the seat out of a Monogram Lumina kit. Other than the seat the interior of these kits are very accurate. I think by 1985 Dale Earnhardt and maybe Richard Petty were only ones using the seat that comes with the T-Bird kits. Good luck with your build, Post some pictures when you get it finished. Vernon
  13. Beautiful job, my parents had one of these Mrec's when I was a kid. I always loved the body style. Thanks for the flash back, again beatiful job. Vernon
  14. Hello Sjoberg...Try the guys at detailmaster.com. They might be able to help you. Found one more source. Look in the resin & aftermarket section of this forum, there is a post from yesterday listed as best radiator hose. The company name is Protech and has some good reviews. Good luck, Vernon
  15. Hello Bob...I agree this appears to be a perfect match. I will have to swing by Walmart on the home tonight and pick up a can. By the way, I love your sppon test. I'm glad to see someone else does this. Thanks again, I'll let you know what happens. Vernon
  16. My first response is to Bill Burmeister, If you have any extra cans of the Clearview 2000, could I get one from you. I bought some back when Scale Auto first ran the add but over the years it seamed to disappear. I'm glad someone else remembers the greatest April Fools Day joke of the modeling world. I'll never forget all the people calling the local hobby shops trying to find this stuff. Second, The Petty kit is well worth the money. I'm not a big 1/16th scale fan, but as a Petty and MOPAR fan, it's a must have. It's a shame MPC never appled this technology to the 1/25th scale kits. I built these kits as a kid and was impressed at how well they went together. Now as an adult (and hopefully better modeler) I can hardly wait to get started on the reissue. The first of my pre-orders just came and looks fantastic. The big difference I see is the front wheel openings are the same shape as the Buddy Baker K&K Insurance version. Other that it is missing the screen for the grille, no big deal. Take my word on it, this is one nice kit. Hope everyone enjoys these kits and we see a lot of finished pictures in this forum. Vernon
  17. Hello David....I'm glad you too remember the Buddy Baker kit, it was molded with a red body and the front wheel openings were reshaped from the the Petty kit. I had both of these kits when I was many years younger. For thier time these kits were fantastic and from what I remember go together very well. It shows the model companies had the capability of building detailed kits back then. At any rate I've got three of these kits coming, and will defintely build them this time around. Hope we see some aftermarket decals and lots pictures in this forum. One last thing, back around 1975, we had a local department store go out of business and as part of thier markdowns, they were selling both the Petty & Baker kits for about $3.00 each. Yes, I said $3.00 each. As a kid of about 15. I never thought to cut a few more yards for the extra money to buy everyone they had. Happy modeling, and I hope everyone enjoys this GREAT reissue as much as I will. Vernon
  18. Personally it doesn't matter to me, as I plan on painting mine so the opaque is fine. I still have an original from when I was a kid, but had attempted to paint the clear body back around 1975, thats as far as it ever went. Still unbuilt !! I would like to thank the folks at Round 2 Models for this re-release as well as all the kits they've brought us modelers over the last couple years. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for these old kits and have enyoyed them very much. By the way I three of the Petty Chargers on order, so hopefully we'll see some decals come out in the near future. Happy modeling, Vernon
  19. Thanks Jonathan....I just picked up some Tamiya TS22 light green, and I agree with you. It is close enough. Also thank you Jim, The car is definetly neon green. I just bought an update resin air dam off ebay that is a perfect fit and looks just like the 2011 & 2012 cars and got the car in primer last night. I hope to have it painted this weekend, if so I'll post some pictures. Thanks alot guys, you were both a lot of help. Vernon By the way Jonathan, your #7 car turned out great, how did you update the nose?
  20. THANKS GUYS, THIS GIVES ME SOME IDEAS.
  21. THANK YOU, I'LL CHECK IT OUT.
  22. Any ideas of a close match for the green, used on Danica Patricks 2012 Go Daddy.com Cup car? Thinking of using Testors Mopar "sub-lime green". I know its a little lighter, but the nearest thing I found in hobby paints. Thanks, Vernon
  23. OH MY GOSH!!!!!!....GREAT JOB
  24. IT'S A TOSS-UP FOR ME, I LOVE THE '67 FURY & THE GRAND NATIONAL EL CAMINO & THE DODGE MONACO. OH WHAT THE HECK, I LOVE THEM ALL. GREAT JOB!!!
  25. Looks great, Now if we can get someone to make the Garlits decals, among others. This was a fantastic rerelease with many possibilties. Thanks for sharing your photos, keep us posted on your progress. Happy Modeling, Vernon
