  1. Same here. It's sort of strange, but if these books are selling for between $75 - $300 it seems like bad business sense NOT to print another edition. If a $19 book is selling for that high of a price, obviously there is a demand for it. By not printing another edition Kalmbach is loosing out on profits.
  2. I went just the opposite way. I put the Cummins NTC350 from the AMT Peterbilt into the Revell USA Snap Kenworth W900. I fit fine. One thing you'll have to watch out for is the NTC350 isn't as tall as the 3406, so you might have to adjust the front engine mount down. I had to build mine up a little in the Revell USA Kenworth so the NTC350 sat correctly. Not sure about the rear mounting tabs, but if I remember correctly & had to shave the ones on the Cummins down a little to fit.
  3. Here's the response I received from Kalmbach when I asked them about this book: "Hello James, Thank you for your recent inquiry about How to Build Creative Dioramas for Your Scale Auto Models. As of now, there are no plans for a new edition of the book. However, it is possible that the book will appear in a digital format in the future, as we are converting some of our older titles to this format. You can check our website, www.kalmbachstore.com, for these titles. Also, www.bookfinder.com, checks various sites besides Amazon for out-of-print books. Unfortunately, there is nothing less than $76 for this book. -- Best regards, Randy Rehberg Associate Editor Kalmbach Books 21027 Crossroads Circle Waukesha, WI 53187-1612 " Not very encouraging. I don't want an e-book, I want a book! You know, paper pages. What am I supposed to do? Read it on my wife's Kindle?
  4. Looks like Zaku is trying to kick a field goal!
  5. That's good to know. Thanks.
  6. Thanks for the advice, guys. I appreciate it. I'll keep looking. Maybe a letter writing campaign to Kalambach will get them to reprint another addition? Couldn't hurt.
  7. Tan or gray-shades are always nice. Here's mine in tan:
  8. I have been looking to find a book on biulding diorama sceens for model cars & trucks, and there only seems to be one "How to Build Creative Dioramas for Your Scale Auto Models" by Ken Hamilton. I have "How to Build Dioramas" by Shepard Paine, but that book generally deals with 1/35 military models (don't get my wrong, it's a good book!) I saw Ken Hamilton's book on Amizon for $284, but most were around $70 (the highest I saw was a rental for $300). Is this book worth $70? I was just wondering because as soon as I pay $70 for the book, Kalambach will reprint it & sell it for $20. Just looking for thought on the book. Thanks.
  9. Nice looking Volvo. It's a good fleet truck.
  10. Just to make it more confusing!
  11. I've seen some hood conversions for a 9300, and you're offering a 9400. What's the difference, and what years were these offered? The 9300 conversion I saw used the 4300 cab, so I'm guessing that's 1980s, and your 9400 is 1990s.
  12. Unfortunately, Gary doesn't have a Website. You'll need to email him at gwtrucks@yahoo.com for info. He'll send you a print catalog. He's a little "old school", but a great guy.
  13. I like it. Now the 9400 isn't offered anymore correct? Only the 9900, right?
  14. Correct. Rick is remastering the 57P for Dave.
  15. I guess the good news is Rick is currently making/correcting some masters for Dave, and he's teaching Dave the "black art of casting" (his words).
  16. Who made the C-Series decals?
  17. Making decals for Caterpiller anything is like playing with fire. There is a resin 3406E out there, but it doesn't come with any decals.
  18. Isn't there a similar setup in the GMC Astro/95 & Chevrolet Titan/90 except that the engine is a 8V71N not a 8V71T?
  19. 1mm on the model is about 1" in the real truck. The 3/16"(4.7625mm) aluminum tube is about the same as a 5" stack on the real truck. 5/16" (7.9375mm) is about an 8" stack, while 3/8" (9.525mm) is 9-1/2"
  20. Kind of looking to the future here, but since Moebius has a licensing agreement with Navistar I wonder if the PayStar, WorkStar, or 9900-series would be in the cards. Yes, a new Kenworth or Peterbilt would be nice (I'm a Kenworth fan, myself), but just thinking licensing here. If they already have one with Navistar, wouldn't it be easier to make more Internationals then negotiate a new contract with PACCAR, Volvo, or Freightliner?
  21. Absolutely an amazing job!
  22. What's a good Testors or Tamiya color for the cream?
  23. Looks really nice. Now you just need a 1/25 container.
  24. When can we expect to see the P/E set?
